Hi Rodger, I noticed you adjust the dimensions to get a perfect circle. I usually hold down shift when drawing circles, squares etc., to get them perfect sided.
Thank you for sharing, just received my laser. Looking forward to learning to use . Everyone stay safe, warm, happy and healthy. From Henrico County Virginia
hold shift while dragging your circle onto the work surface and it will create a perfect circle. then instead of unlocking and locking dimensions you can just change 1 while locked to make it any size you want.
Thanks Roger for all you do for us newbies! I've learned a lot from watching your channel. One question about the spoil board. I created one for mine and I dont have one of those metal beds, just some cookie cooling grids. How do you keep from spoiling your spoil board?
Love your videos can you make one on best way to line jobs up I’m using frame but still off wish lightburn would just let you burn the grid for your machine so when you pull something to the lines it’s perfect I have the b1 if you have recommendations
This may help: ua-cam.com/video/Yay76jLQuIs/v-deo.html Also, setup your projects to use absolute coordinates and start from center. In Lightburn, once you have your layout, center it using the center icon. it will start from the same spot, everytime.
If you hold shift when making your shape (circle or square) it will make it uniform, therefore when resizing you do not need to unlock and resize both measurements as it would be within aspect of the same.
May I get product information on the eye protection goggles you have? I have prescription glasses as well and would like to be able to see properly when I have the safety goggles on. Thanks in advance.
Great tutorial. I'm new to the laser engraving world. My first project was engraving cork coasters. Other than time, how can I get rid of the char/burn smell quickly?
Hey man, great tutorial. I just got the Longer Ray5 10W and was wondering if you can fill me in on how you did the laser when framing please? I can't seem to get it to work. Thanks and thanks for the videos
Assuming you are using Lightburn and "Current Position", position the laser head where you need it (I always work from center), load your project, them click frame button.
Great video!!! Have a question. Does the cork have to be thick, or can it be the thinner ones that go on the back of coasters? Or how thin can they be engraved on. Thanks!!! Love all your videos!!!!
You are showing doing one position at a time. Can three or four be programed at one time? If I wanted to do four coasters of the same can they be done setting up machine just once?
Yes, and I do it all the time, but it is a little more advanced than what I was showing for someone just starting out. One way is to make 4 tool paths, place them adjacent to each other, insert graphic, set layers, set to absolute coordinates, set to page center. You can also engrave the four outline positions in your spoil board for fast loading. I have one of my lasers setup just to engrave our logo on candy board backs and do six at a time.
I have watched you use several different lasers. Is there one you would rather use? I guess I am leaning Comgrow but I am just not sure. Now I am not going to make this a business just fun with a sale maybe every now and then. Thanks for Your Time
I don't really have any "favorite". Some, I have setup just for specific projects so I don't need to change anything when I'm going to do a "run" of items. I do keep two lasers just for miscellaneous projects and not set up for anything specific, the Atomstack P9 M50 and the Longer RAY 5, which I just upgraded to a 20 watt laser head and added limit switches(video coming soon)
Roger I am brand new at user laser engraving. I own the longer Ray 5 5W wanted to ask if you have a download of the grid that you use. I am really learning and enjoying your channel.
Hi am trying to use it on cardboard to engrave logo but am not getting a good results it's not same black on all letters and it's kind of flue. Anyone can give me an advice?
Good video! I'm thinking of doing some cork and of course came here. I have one question. After the engraving and getting rid of the soot do you put any type of sealer or clearcoat or do you just leave it as is?
Thanks for the video. I'm going to give these a try
Hi Rodger, I noticed you adjust the dimensions to get a perfect circle. I usually hold down shift when drawing circles, squares etc., to get them perfect sided.
Yes, that works as well, but was keeping it KISS. Keep It Super Simple. For beginners.
Excellent video, thanks Rodger. I appreciate the Lightburn how to also

Yes, that is another way. I was showing how to resize when needed, hence did not use the shortcut.
@@rogersshop oh ok. no worries!! just thought you didnt know that trick. Love your videos, you have taught me so much already.

Sheet metal. A flat cookie sheet also works

Sir you are amazing thank you so much for the video
Good tutorial. I just started engraving cork. I Will try turning off the air assist as it was actually moving the cork coasters around a bit. 👍
Can't wait to get my Lazer next month.
Where does one go to find art graphs like this wine picture.
Thank you so much for such a great video.
There are many sources out there, but I usually use DesignBundles.net.

@@rogersshop Sorry, I was meaning how to fire the laser at 1% when framing?

Hi to wine corks, how to print with laser
Same settings, but you will need a rotary attachment setup.
@@rogersshop And I think I need to coordinate Thank you for your reply, I wish you continued success

What is the type of board under the working area of engraving machine? Roger Sir Please❤
1/2" MDF. I engraved the layout grid.
Is there a setting in Lightburn to turn the laser on when framing?
I have an Atomstack A5 Pro
What are you using to hold the piece's down?
Nothing other than gravity. Only when I get into very thin, small materials do I need to make a hold down method to keep it from blowing around.
Roger I am brand new at user laser engraving. I own the longer Ray 5 5W wanted to ask if you have a download of the grid that you use. I am really learning and enjoying your channel.

What watt laser are you using
Longer Ray 5 in this video
He mentions towards the end of the video that he has the 10watt Longer 5.
Hi Roger - where do you buy your cork coasters in bulk? If possible, please provide a link. Thanks!
Amazon. Links are in the video description.
IKEA

Most of the time, leave as is. I have an order for 81 coasters to run this week and I will not be coating them with anything.
