Topic of great debate and it also depends on the manufacturer of the laser head. The heat generated is the most critical, so the cooler you can keep the head, the longer it will last.
The only thing I have found to reduce the warping on this stainless is apply a dry-moly lubricant coating first, then increase speed and make multiple passes. Results are still mixed, though. I don't have this problem on thicker material. But, the Dollar Tree scrapers are good to experiment with since they are so cheap.
Hey Roger, just getting started with my laser. Wondering where you got your blue cable hanger/guide on your Ray5? Wanted to know about how to get some of your leg extensions for the same unit?
is there any danger to the laser when the steel is reflective? i mean from bouncing back into the laser itself or can you just experiment without any danger?
Very, very great video and wonderfully explained XD One question please....what did you coat the stainless steel with to get such a result and with what parameters exactly? I have the Atomstack x7 Pro and NEVER get these results ;( I ask for your help :( Kind regards Frank
No coating, but this may depend on the alloy of the stainless. Setting I use for a 10 Watt is 400 mm/min @100% power. I have also used a spray coating of dry moly lube on a different project on stainless where the nickel content of the alloy was higher to get a darker etch.
Yes, but first consider the intended use. The Atomstack P series is light and portable, but also has a small work area. If looking for a larger work area, and wanting to stay in the Atomstack brand, look to the "A" series. (I have one of those too)
Im fairly new to all this. I have a question and I apologize in advance if you already answered it……when I start a job in lightburn, can I work on another project in lightburn?
I got a Comgrow Z1 10W laser (using it with lightburn) to print on painted aluminum metal tags, unfortunately I’m not able to get the engraving to really show, maybe I have the setting wrong…. Has anyone been successful to print in Painted aluminum with this laser? If yes can you please share your Lightburn settings?
@@logoidea4u The M50 module (10 watt) was supplied to me by Atomstack before it was released to the public, so had the red shield. I also did a video on the complete P9 M50 when it was released: ua-cam.com/video/Up7K0kf2lJ8/v-deo.html After release, it has blue shield. No lie. No mistake. Just fact.
Eculyptus oil takes stickers off real easy I use to use it to take stickers off fridges when I was repairing them
acetone does a great job too.
Yes it does but I had found customers hated the smell in the kitchen@@dionisienatea3137
good info thanks roger!
Im course how many times you can run your lazer at a hundred percent before it starts loosing power.

@@rogersshop I never looked at it that way it's food for thought.
Thank you.
So does a CO2 do it ? Or is it too high of wave freq ? or is it the color of the laser light ?
While I do have a CO2 laser, I only use it for clear acrylic. Will need to do some tests on it for stainless.
I was going to ask the same question do you use the co2 for anything are there any videos thanks
Can you etch metal with a CO2 laser? Do you pre-coat the metals?
Do you not coat the steel before burning? I see people using aerosol sprays designed to be uses for engraving steel .
No. Not on stainless. I do coat regular steel first.
@@rogersshop what do you coat reg steel with?
any tips to prevent or reduce warping?

No donger to the laser, but wear proper eye protection

Since the material is reflective, doesn't that mean it could reflect back at the laser causing damage?
would this laser be a good beginner laser

While you "can" have two instances of Lightburn open at the same time on the same computer, it might be risky.
Thank you
This is not true, I do it all the time. I've also seen people who control two different machines at the same time.
When you say "refract" do you really mean "reflect?"
Both
Other than blowing on the cork, do you recommend any thing else to remove the soot?

Hey Roger what was your time to complete one ?
Did not time it. However, you can see a preview of time in Lightburn before starting the project.
The P9 M40 is a 5.5w laser, not at 10w, I hav the same exact laser.
I put a 10 watt head on this as an upgrade, almost making it a M50.
