Holy shit. Thank you so much for this. My parents are in their 70's and still don't fully understand the power of the internet- but, with harnessing the power of your video, I now have a solution for their old, freshly dead drop-in stove. It can be removed by some friends and I and they can get a none-drop in for the time being. This will save quite a lot of money. Thank you!!
Thank you for the video. For several years I have put off removing my 1983 drop-in stove because I thought it was a chore that needed the hiring of someone else to do it. We can do this!!!! plan to put a table in that spot with individual cooking appliances - dual hot plate, air fryer, toaster oven, crock pot. Eventually, I WILL pay someone to remove the vent thingy and the overhead microwave which doesn't work and I hated anyway because I'm 4'11" and it was hard to take stuff out of it. Thanks.
I'm sending this video to my landlord. My 60 year old electric drop in stove needs to be replaced and the landlord has several concerns. This video might lessen his concerns. Thanks!
Thanks for the info. Would be cool to see what you guys did with the rear area to fit a free standing in. Dealing with the tile seems like a pain to keep things looking clean.
Idk about video quality. You showed me what I needed to know and that’s what’s user this pos broken build in thing that was here when we bought our house. Thank you!!!!
Please try this with the camera right side up. Also, what do you do with the cabinets on the side: all new slide in ranges are 30in. wide, the cabinet opening are less.
I'm in the process of converting now and the new "standard" stove doesn't fit into the cabinet space. Frustrating trying to get it to fit. Did you have luck? What did you have to do?
...and that's why I'm in the comments section.... definitely not a hacksaw. For those contemplating doing this job, a multi tool would work well, if you have one.
He was alluding to the digital display. I dont think I saw the first digital displays on cars or appliance until the mid 80s but yes, guessing 2010 was too kind.
This did not complete the job. Drop in ranges are only about 27" wide and slide in ranges need a minimum of 30" so the cabinets needed to be trimmed. He did not show the competed job. The video was very bad because part of it was side ways.
I’m trying to help a friend from two hours away, this was 3:15 well spent. Thanks

You didn't show how to disconnect the stove before removing.
You make it look easy! Thanks for sharing!
Was the drop in stove wired to the house or did it plug in?
This was a very helpful video. I have literally the same stove and cabinets, so this really made it easy to gauge. Great info!
Thank you so much for this video, I have the same range and needed this to help me get mine out.
This video was exactly what I needed. Thanks.

Thanks brother, that was exactly what I needed to know!
The most awesome video I've ever seen. What an amazing feat of engineering prowess. I'm not worthy to watch this.
That was very helpful👍🏾

Appreciate the info, but when is your birthday? I would like to send you a tripod. Just kidding. Thanks!
Very helpful thank you
Thanks for the video. I haven't tried to remove my range but I sure this video will help.
Good luck!
I like the name too. My wife is a Jeep gal 👍🏼
Thanks a lot... i was able to remove the installed drop in but now difficult to install , the wood needs lot of cutting ..
What we will be doing here soon! Lol thanks for the vid!
I need someone to do this job exactly in the Renton, WA area.
Good video thank you much!
Hope it helps!
This video was more than helpful and entertaining to watch lol
Idk about video quality. You showed me what I needed to know and that’s what’s user this pos broken build in thing that was here when we bought our house. Thank you!!!!
If I take my drop-in stove out and the wood underneath, can I put the stove back in until I get new one?
Please try this with the camera right side up. Also, what do you do with the cabinets on the side: all new slide in ranges are 30in. wide, the cabinet opening are less.
Did you figure out how to deal with that? I'm trying to figure it out now.
I wonder if the new stove fit in the hole left by the drop-in stove. Most of the time, its about 1/8 to 1/4" too narrow.
I'm in the process of converting now and the new "standard" stove doesn't fit into the cabinet space. Frustrating trying to get it to fit. Did you have luck? What did you have to do?
I need part two. How to install the free standing range
I also need to know how to install a free standing stove, which I can afford vs a more expensive drop in stove
Thanks.
Hard to watch, indeed, but all the info I needed. That's not a hack saw though.
...and that's why I'm in the comments section.... definitely not a hacksaw. For those contemplating doing this job, a multi tool would work well, if you have one.
Thanks
How did you disconnect it ?
Is PEE WEE Herman running camera?
Do you have to do anything with the wiring to work for freestanding?
+Dana Haulbrook you can direct wire or add a receptacle. A surface mount receptacle is less than $7 at Lowes.
Could we possibly have you rotate the vid..its a good video...rotation is the only thing its missing.
If stove is hardwired, can I just cap off the wires? I intend to put a SS work table in it’s place. Thanks
Woooo!
Did your old stove have a hose ? If so how did u dis connect it
Do you know the year of the stove because I just removed one and I'm trying to find out what year it was
Not sure. I’d guess somewhere around the prehistoric area.
The house was made in 1993 I believe, had to be an original
How did you remove the wire in the back
I need to know how to disconnect the cords but eh
What ? No beer break in the middle of doing all that ? You guys need to join a Union or something .
Your camera went sideways so it was hard on eyes but helpful, lol
Are you sure that's a 2010 stove because it looks a lot older then that. And also the electric stoves now are smooth tops.
+Matt Bruns 20 years old at least.. i just pulled the same stove out of my kitchen..
+Matt Bruns There's this thing called sarcasm....
I have one in a 1970’s built building....it’s definitely an original so we’re talkin 40 some odd years?!??
Hard to watch. Surprised they did not use a chain saw.
That range is from the later 70s or 80s, definitely not a 2010 model.
He was alluding to the digital display. I dont think I saw the first digital displays on cars or appliance until the mid 80s but yes, guessing 2010 was too kind.
the only major problem is the electrical. most stoves use an outlet these days. sadly, drop-ins do not.
That's not a "major problem ". Instal a plugin using the existing wire.
Keep the camera still!
Half assed video that only showed removal. Not conversion of drop in stove.
It may be easier to hire professionals to do it where I live.
Terrible photographer. Too much jumping around to be able to learn anything.
Don't forget the little girly cheerleader yell at the end.
This did not complete the job. Drop in ranges are only about 27" wide and slide in ranges need a minimum of 30" so the cabinets needed to be trimmed. He did not show the competed job. The video was very bad because part of it was side ways.
Nancy Lawson sorry if yours was different Nancy, but yes this did complete my job. Measured before and it was 30". Some may be different
Weeeeellll, Nancy... Make your own video and show us how it's done. Otherwise, shut up!
