Aldritch tried damn hard to carry the team, especially in round 1. He might've succeed if he used the life stealing scythe a few more times, but then again he used it more times in round 2 than in round 1, but he got destroyed harder in round 2 anyways, so who knows. If he really wants to carry the team then he should probably ask Yhorm for advice on how to do that, from one Lord of Cinder to another.

You should watch the "bosses vs respawning hollows" video because if he didn't have limited castings of lifehunt and was more inclined to use it, he could destroy armies

If both sides get more life-like AI, then all of Irithyll would be smart enough to simply step out of the way of the arrow rain as soon as he starts it, turning it from Aldrich's greatest strength to greatest weakness and making Anor Londo do even worse.

What a splendid finale to Round 1. Also, Aldrich's Lifehunt Scythe was terrifying here, look at how much HP he can get back per swing when he has an army to cleave through. This was quite the war.
I always saw Aldritch as a mad unthinking beast and Sulyvahn the master manipulator behind the scenes. Then again I've been playing this game for 4 years and can't explain the plot.
@@joevines3428 I think while Sulyvahn was the manipulator who drove the game's backstory, his goal was complete once he essentially got top power over the domain. After that, Aldrich was the one who looked further into the future after the Age of Fire: while he didn't really plan anything outside of eating Gwyndolin, he still inspired fervor in so many followers with his dreams of the Deep that they organized all the rest.

And now, he tries to stop anyone to take their souls to kindle the flame. Globally. There is a bit more to it. Since the fire change with time... But to understand the entire DS3 story, you must understand the 1 and 2 as well. Because the moral is quite interesting
I feel overall it seems like Anor Londo army was weaker so there were more mobs around for Aldrich to kill though. There were tons of Pontiff Knights, where were all the Silver Knights?
Thank God Aldrich isn't immune to fire damage like Yhorm was. The Flame Witches really got to show just how strong they are throughout the match. Sulyvahn himself did an outstanding job. It really helps when he has time and room to summon in his clone for extra DPS.

I just noticed something about the op arrow attack that Aldrich has. It keeps moving past enemies so it doesn’t do 30,000 damage but that really only works for smaller enemies. At one point I saw it do only 200 damage to a small enemy and then 2,000 damage to pontiff. But that’s exactly why midir took so much damage from that attack, he’s so big that he just continues to take damage
Indeed. On top of that, b4 his stage 2 (i'm assuming this is the one you're talking about), his arrows completely miss behind him. So an army can flank him early. Then on stage 2 just let one person be the target and the rest can swarm 'em. Imo his strongest attack here was the scythe.
Aldrich's arrow storm actually does percentage-based hp damage on whatever it hits, the full arrow storm doing a bit over 100% of the target's hp if most of the duration hits. This was presumably done to give low-mid hp builds a chance to not get insta-rekt by it, but in NPC battles one full volley can kill Midir from full hp due to the nature of how it works.
As expected, the matchups largely fell to both area's respective bosses and minibosses. Without the arrow spam, Aldritch didn't have much to counter Sulyvahn once he closed the distance, and the Deep Accursed couldn't match up against Sulyvahn's Beasts. This could also be seen as an interesting "what-if" scenario, where Sulyvahn arranged a schism to stage a coup against Aldritch. It would certainly fit with the scrapped original script where Sulyvahn was supposed to be the final boss.

This is an amazing concept. And the execution is spectacular. Would love to see more battles likes this between other different factions. Maybe Ringed City vs the Painted World? Or the Cathedral vs Lothric Castle.
Wow, talk about a totally unexpected result. I was super sure Aldrich's side had this in the bag. They had silver nights, the deacons, and Aldrich. All units with very heavy ranged attacks that can rip through an army in their own right. Was not expecting Sullyvan to be such a force of reckoning on the ground. He really cut through a majority of that army by himself. Also, was Aldrich arrow spam nerfed? Could have sworn that should have melted the entire army by itself but instead the little units were tanking it like nothing. :/ Maybe it is just more effective against large bosses like Yhorm and Midir?
I'd say this is a great example of the Strength > Agility > Spells > Strength dynamic. For all Aldrich ranged prowess, Sulyvhan's and his forces' ability to quickly close the distance forced the God Eater to continually retreat which allowed damage to pile on. Sulyvhan's doppelganger only worsened Aldrich's situation by drawing aggro. Of course, Bonfire also buffs the stats so both sides are relatively equal, which also put Aldrich at a disadvantage since most of the spells are meant to stagger and cover a wide area rather than damage. Perhaps things would have been different if that Call From Beyond-esque spell didn't all home in on one target, and if Sulyvhan's units were more in favor of quantity over quality.
@Sterlington Parker but by that logic in ds3 (game in question) there is multiple giants an the giants coal in anor londo. So yes giants should be on Aldrichs team as its based on locational encounter
@Sterlington Parker there are also silver Knights before the name "anor londo" comes up on screen but I wouldn't say they should be on Pontiff's side. I'd consider the giants to be an Anor Londo/cathedral of the deep mob.

I love how Aldrich spams all his OP moves vs players but vs AI it’s so rare to see him actually use it, the scythe for instance, only used it once, vs a player you’ll see it 5 times spammed in one battle
Ringed City would stomp every army in the game. the only one that can win is Lothric because of their numbers, consisting of the lothric knights, winged knights, and hollow soldiers. they also have the two bosses on the battlefield, being Dragonslayer Armour and Twin Princes (i personally don't count Oceiros cuz of his status in Lothric) who are already powerful bosses individually and their design is fitting for large scale battles. Ringed city has quality>quantity tho. filled with Herald Legion knights and Ringed knights, along with 4 Judicator giants, Alva, halflight, and.... bug people. Midir could be included as well, but Midir alone could solo all armies so...
So Irithyll vs Archdragon Peak feels like it would be utter chaos, so that is my request. Good ole Nameless King and his army vs Pontiff Sulyvahn and his monstrosities.
Aldrich lost cause he didnt fought alongside his army, as the Pontiff did. He just rushed for the enemy all alone. That shows that the same thing that made of him a dreadful being, his hunger, was also the reason for his demise.

Awesome, as always. Is there any possibility you could do a video with the Deacons of the Deep/Cathedral Knights included as well? I feel like that might make it fairer for Aldrich and his followers (maybe unfairly in their favour, so adding the outrider knights to Irithyll could even it out too).
I remember when P088 would upload videos of the bosses 1v1ing each other. Back in those fights the Pontiff would almost always lose, but when it comes this series of Large Scale Epic Wars where one Army faces off against Another, Pontiff Sulyvahn seems to dominate and nothing else. Say what you want about Sulyvahn himself, but credit where credit's due, the man knows how to build a damn army

All units with very heavy ranged attacks that can rip through an army in their own right. Was not expecting Sullyvan to be such a force of reckoning on the ground. He really cut through a majority of that army by himself.
Also, was Aldrich arrow spam nerfed? Could have sworn that should have melted the entire army by itself but instead the little units were tanking it like nothing. :/ Maybe it is just more effective against large bosses like Yhorm and Midir?
I'd say this is a great example of the Strength > Agility > Spells > Strength dynamic. For all Aldrich ranged prowess, Sulyvhan's and his forces' ability to quickly close the distance forced the God Eater to continually retreat which allowed damage to pile on. Sulyvhan's doppelganger only worsened Aldrich's situation by drawing aggro.
Of course, Bonfire also buffs the stats so both sides are relatively equal, which also put Aldrich at a disadvantage since most of the spells are meant to stagger and cover a wide area rather than damage. Perhaps things would have been different if that Call From Beyond-esque spell didn't all home in on one target, and if Sulyvhan's units were more in favor of quantity over quality.
The Sullyvahn's beasts did half the job though.
@Sterlington Parker but by that logic in ds3 (game in question) there is multiple giants an the giants coal in anor londo. So yes giants should be on Aldrichs team as its based on locational encounter
Sulyvahn is understimated, but in my opinion, he is one of the strongest bosses of DS3.
@Sterlington Parker there are also silver Knights before the name "anor londo" comes up on screen but I wouldn't say they should be on Pontiff's side. I'd consider the giants to be an Anor Londo/cathedral of the deep mob.

I love how Aldrich spams all his OP moves vs players but vs AI it’s so rare to see him actually use it, the scythe for instance, only used it once, vs a player you’ll see it 5 times spammed in one battle

Ringed City would stomp every army in the game. the only one that can win is Lothric because of their numbers, consisting of the lothric knights, winged knights, and hollow soldiers. they also have the two bosses on the battlefield, being Dragonslayer Armour and Twin Princes (i personally don't count Oceiros cuz of his status in Lothric) who are already powerful bosses individually and their design is fitting for large scale battles.
Ringed city has quality>quantity tho. filled with Herald Legion knights and Ringed knights, along with 4 Judicator giants, Alva, halflight, and.... bug people. Midir could be included as well, but Midir alone could solo all armies so...

So Irithyll vs Archdragon Peak feels like it would be utter chaos, so that is my request. Good ole Nameless King and his army vs Pontiff Sulyvahn and his monstrosities.
Aldrich lost cause he didnt fought alongside his army, as the Pontiff did. He just rushed for the enemy all alone. That shows that the same thing that made of him a dreadful being, his hunger, was also the reason for his demise.
Irythryll would destroy the cathedral. don't forget Sulyvan didnt have his outrider knights or vordt and dancer
No, him being a boss was his demise. Though I probably would have killed the asshole anyways, I _definitely_ was gonna kill him since he was a boss, and a required one at that.
That was so good. Honestly the invisible slaves were the real MVPs by soaking up damage and bombarding everything with sorceries.

I remember when P088 would upload videos of the bosses 1v1ing each other. Back in those fights the Pontiff would almost always lose, but when it comes this series of Large Scale Epic Wars where one Army faces off against Another, Pontiff Sulyvahn seems to dominate and nothing else.
Say what you want about Sulyvahn himself, but credit where credit's due, the man knows how to build a damn army
