Mechanical adjustments to make the hot rod FASTER 💨

- We're going flathead racing again at Pinetree Jamboree and the event is 2 weeks away. Jolene's top speed last summer was 57 mph and her goal this summer is to hit 60 mph so Nathan is making some mechanical adjustments to make the hot rod faster. We're going to weld the rear end to make it posi-track so that the back wheels don't spin at the line 💨
Pinetree Jamboree is September 15-17 and is held at the Winterport Dragway in Maine! 🏁

Jolene one can see who the dog belong to it followed you out when you drove the race car out and that is great . It seems like a nice dog . A blue healer a Auzie . lol
Just getting some good oil in the diff , trans and engine should gain Jolene the three miles per hour ! Happy Birthday Chad ! Jolene your work on the camera is Awesome ! I would say with all the fixes you should do at least 63 miles per hour !!! Nathan looks to be a great help to the crew .

Love the Radiator grille on the car. It looks as though it is from a 1953/4 British car The Austin A40 Somerset model. It could be the Austin A70 of the same years as that was identical design but a bigger version
Welding the spider gears together with a Lincoln Welder makes it what I call a Lincoln Locker. Great job on everything and I think you will surpass your 60 mph dream
Just a thought, and someone else may have already said this, but would a third or even four hinges be a good idea for the door? Asking because its going to be a heavy door in itself and then add the weight of people climbing in and out. Just a thought. I love this build. Great Job Chad and Jolene!

Wow, Bad Chad on the camera. Jolene sure isn't afraid of that car. Happy Birthday Chad, wishing many more for you. Wouldn't it be easier for Jolene to speed shift if the shifter was shorter? Tune that engine a little bit more (new points, plugs, condenser etc) maybe throw in a high performance coil and fiddle with the timing advance and dwell angle. Do all or some of this and I'm positive you'll get a lot more than 60, maybe all the way to 62!! Maybe putting in some larger carb jets would help as well.
Seeing Jolene's smile makes it all worthwhile.

Yes, it really needed a good mechanical overhaul ✅
Definitely need a drive shaft hoop and solid firewall.
especially a solid 'fire' wall !
Especially with the fuel right at the front too 😬.
Can just imagine what it could look like in a disaster.
Even if Chad just riveted a thin sheet of aluminium to the fiewall and seam sealed the edges would be better than nothing.
Cheap way to hugely improve safety for Jolene.
Man, that driveshaft loop was the perfect time to use your Gene Winfield metal bending station!

I think another reinforced area at the bottom would be good if you step on your sheet. A hydronic like a trunk with a small motor would allow remote control with an easy soft close. Also then you can use a key control to lock with no projections..nice and clean

Jolene will hit 60+ now that Nate is getting this car geared up better. The Bugatti hauler is looking awesome. It will be awesome to see some paint on it but I know you will take a break from it after all the fab you guys have done on it!!

Happy Birthday Chad, I hope you are having a good birthday!!🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂 Hi Jolene, Nathan, & Fina. Jolene I think your race car will do over 60 mph with the work that Nate is doing to it. Especially if the gas pedal cable is not letting the carb open all the way and he fixes it. Plus the better that Nate gets it running the faster it will be. Maybe next year you guys can put the flathead V-8 in. It was nice to see you smiling Jolene, I smile to when I am going racing or think about it! Great video as always, you always do a perfect job getting the close ups so, we can always see exactly what is being done.

Welding up the differential like that has been called a "Lincoln Locker". The name came about from using a Lincoln welder, hence...Lincoln Locker. With the fluids taken care of I predict more than 60 mph 👍

Years ago I had a 68 chrysler Newport and in a tight curve the damd driveshaft came off in the front. The car did a perfect poll volt over a ditch and a fence. Landed on the wheels. It was towtruck time for that car

Finally ! I get to make a comment about this car! Since this is for the queen, I am positive it needs a small gold circle in the back around the decorations already there with a small and simple same gold crown as part of the the circle tilted just a bit off center so it isn't sitting directly on top. After all, this is the queen we're talking about isn't it? Doesn't a queen need a crown Chad?????
My 1946 Ford Super DeLux coupe came with it's 9" Ford rear gears welded. It is not something I'd done but it is what it is. One thing you need to know......a welded up rear gear acts very different than a real POSI. A welded rear gear does NOT like wet pavement. You really need to beware if you have to drive it in the wet. Good luck.....Jolene can drive that car !!!
I would give anything to have that motorcycle behind Nate at 1:04! I had a Honda dirt bike like that when I was a young pup. It was a Honda 185S, and I could barely touch the ground!
