- Air Canada Carry On Luggage (Baggage) Restrictions Will yours fit? More people flying out of Toronto are bringing carry on luggage instead of check in due to the increase of lost luggage. I made this video to help those flying out of Toronto that their carry on luggage meets Air Canada restrictions before boarding. You might be stuck with added fees. Before our flight they were asking for volunteers to check in their luggage and they would receive priority boarding.

I'm about to go myself and it's really stressing me out all these new regulations. Your old luggage are not accepted anymore and it's difficult to find new ones within those size requirements. It's a constant struggle to travel these days.

Also they charge $50.00 , what I had a problem with is the rules did NOT apply to everyone! Many people had the same carry on I had and they were allowed to take them on the plane . I wrote AirCanada about this!

I need to file a complaint with Air Canada. My carry on fit into the jig - admittedly with difficulty - but it fit, and for this I was made to pay $100!! (This was in addition to paying overweight for my check-in luggage.) Altogether the woman checking me in was unkind and not helpful.
I had used the "expanded" zipper. Best not to do that I see.
Thank you for sharing your experience! I heard as long as you don't try to squish it in you would be OK. I know if I use my expanded zipper my backpack won't fit.

Air Canada doesn't have a blind eye to turn, they see $$ in both eyes. If possible, it's best to fly another airline, and as a bonus you'll even make your connecting flight.

First time I saw this size restrictions in Penang, Malaysia 14 years ago. But no one used it.😄

If it isn't important, check your luggage. I check mine, after all it is easy to replace shirts, underwear, pants, shaving kit, etc. if your bag goes missing. What I do not check is my motorcycle helmet and riding gear for safety reasons and costs that the airlines would not cover. Same for my tablet and cameras. People are just too impatient and lazy to wait at the luggage carousel for their luggage.

I have had a problem with my luggage with Ryanair. I must to pay for 1 cm extra in Bristol, with the same luggage and the same company I didn't have any problem in another countries !

Are the Luggage sizes getting smaller every year???
The carry on luggage has been the same size for a while now.
Their allowable size for bags is smaller than most of the US carriers.

I have an Air Canada logo carry on bag. The agent still insisted I put it in the tester. Not surprisingly it fit. But the AC agent just needed to be annoying.
