  • Grays railway station is on the London, Tilbury and Southend line serving the town of Grays, Essex. It is 19 miles 70 chains (32.0 km) down the line from London Fenchurch Street via Rainham and is located at the junction where a branch line from Upminster via Ockendon re-joins the route from Rainham. Its three-letter station code is GRY.
It was opened in 1854. The station and all trains serving it are currently operated by c2c. Although outside the London fare zones, the station became part of the Oyster card pay-as-you-go network in 2010.
In 2005 the station environment was refurbished, in particular the subway linking the platforms, and the surrounding highway infrastructure. In January 2006 the footbridge linking Grays High Street at either side of the railway was declared unsafe and closed due to structural problems with the supports and bracing, which had to be temporarily supported with scaffolding underneath the stair flights. A hoarding was subsequently erected on this scaffolding. The footbridge reopened in May 2006. Works to replace the stair flights have been completed. Although located at the end of the platforms, there is no station access at this point.
During 2008 and 2009 the four-carriage bay platform was extended to hold eight-coach trains. From 2011 to 2012 the through platforms were extended to receive 12-coach trains.
    Duration of the video: 12:00 - 14:15
We’ll be seeing services by c2c and possibly some freight as well in the duration of the video.
I hope you enjoyed the video if you did smash that like button and don’t forget to subscribe for more upcoming content that’ll be featured on the channel and feel free to leave any comments or recommendations of stations you want me to do as I’ll try get back to them as soon as possible.
I really enjoyed my time that was spent at Grays especially with the amount of variety I managed to have in the hours that was spent there and plus I managed to catch c2c diverts through here but only because due to engineering works that seem to occur on most weekends the line between Pitsea & Upminster via Basildon tends to divert c2c to run a semi-fast service from Shoeburyness to London Fenchurch Street but after Pitsea it runs fast via Stanford-Le-Hope & Purfleet and goes nonstop until Barking then it’ll be calling at West Ham, Limehouse and London Fenchurch Street after that.
My next station will be Rainham (London) which is located on the London, Tilbury and Southend mainline and part of the HS1 line as well and I haven’t visited that station for a long time now but I’m sure it’ll be a good station to revisit so until thanks for watching and I’ll see you in the next video.
