- During the year of 2020, I thought it would be a good idea to make weekly New Leaf update videos. Sadly, I didnt last making weekly videos. Theres only so much you can do in Animal Crossing before I being repeating myself. Regardless, I tried to get as much as the important stuff as I could! So heres a super cut of all my New Leaf videos! Enjoy!

honestly i prefer new leaf over new horizons ... it's the vibe, music, and content. i miss the terraforming but other than that new leaf >>>>>>>>>>>>

I'll admit I love the graphic design of new horizons but new leaf felt more alive. The music was better, the villagers idk something about them seemed more alive. New horizons feels like robotic almost and the music kinda sucks ngl.
I think its because the villager personalities are too similar to eachother in new horizons. There is also a lack of dialogue so the same phrases are always repeated.
When acnh released villagers had like 2 or 3 lines of dialogue I had tangy and she would always repeat the same two things everyday all day
i feel like as the series progressed the villagers stopped having flaws (like disagreeing with you. in NL you can gift villagers things and they will straight up dislike it if you dont know their preferences. they also had coffee preferences and etc). in the last games they would straight up insult you for being a newbie. but yeah also the casual dialogue they asked for your opinions on things and it would be a slider instead of a fake choice sort of situation that feels disjointed on horizons

Man.. i miss the mini games. Staying up late at night and playing with a ton of strangers and silently yelling at them when they were acting dumb, but loving to make new friends and find glitches in the game with them. Once i was with those friends and glitched into the railroad, it was the most amazing feeling and my strongest memory from childhood. I want to go back...
Yeah, tbh I loved how we were able to meet random people at the island. I guess it's not a feature anymore because of safety reasons but I still miss it:(

New Leaf is great and I love it, but it’s embarrassing how the latest animal crossing literally has less things to do. Id almost argue that pocket camp is better than New Horizons at this point in time.

I still think new leaf looks great. new horizons looks way better of course it is on a Console and is in HD but nl has that early 3ds game charm.

oh of course, it always has and always will have that charm to it. the music and characters and dialogue was always my favorite part of it all.

Imagine a kid starting New Leaf for the first time on New Year’s just to find they can’t progress for 2 days making them think they’re soft locked so they quit
Main Street was truly the best part of this game. Just seeing it build up as you progress and becoming a bustling shopping district was something I'll never forget.

@@beetjegek6569 i think many people forget how different new horizons is to new leaf, most of the new features were added day 1 so people could experience the new things, like terraforming, placing furniture outside, building up their island, etc. they then added all the old features back slowly to keep people playing and to keep the game fresh and new. All in all, people bought new horizons for the new features, not to do the same things you did in new leaf. I’d say with everything finished in new horizons, I’d say it’s better than new leaf because it has everything and more.
I miss these, the original series is why I subscribed

Even with the latest (and best) update to New Horizons, there’s still a charm that the older entries in the series have that New Horizons doesn’t. Maybe it’s the villagers feeling more real, maybe it’s the music changing to music box versions in the rain, maybe it’s just the nostalgia.
We need New Leaf remastered on the switch with some of the nice New Horizons features added in. It would be perfect.

As a person who has only ever played new horizons and pocket camp this feels really weird
If you have a 3DS I’d totally recommend it! They have some on eBay for cheap if you don’t. The villagers are definitely written better in this game.

As someone who played NL for the first time ever in 2024…I appreciate you, bro. It’s hard to find any sort of NL walkthrough and this set the bar pretty dang high. I’d be down for NH content if you ever wanted to pick it up again.

I love new leaf because when a villager leaves that you love, it really hurts. Like about 5 months ago I had this recurring nightmare where my town was rotting and my favorite villager left. It scared me so bad I stopped playing it completely, I still haven't played since then 😶

I’m planning on getting the animal crossing edition switch and NH for my birthday this year (years late ofc but I’m still excited), and I’m sorta disappointed to know that the villagers become…more lifeless, but I’m still excited to try NH out. I absolutely love New leaf, it was the first ever animal crossing game I played, and the only one so far really. I was in the hospital with leukemia when my dad bought me a 3DS and NL in around 2018. I have become very attached to the game, and it’s one of the things I use to help myself feel better a lot of the time.
I cant wait for you to try NH! Im not sure but I think the villagers have gotten a lot better dialogue wise, as far as I know. Either way, youre not late. Id say youre playing at a great time, since nothing was really available in the beginning. I hope you enjoy the game! :)
