That was one of my favorite scenes in the movie. We see Jennifer Lawrence's "Maddie" both stunned by the depth of feeling in Percy's impromptu piano and vocal performance as she also recognizes that she is no better than the subject of Percy's song. You can really see that she feels genuinely bad about what she's doing. It's followed by a wonderful scene where she becomes insanely jealous of a young lady who starts talking to Percy in the restaurant.
Best part of that definitely of the movie. When the camera was moving slowly closer to Jennifer as he's playing was perfect. It took me a minute to figure out what he was playing.
This one scene is the backbone of the entire movie. She realizes that this "relationship" is much more serious than she anticipated. A simple remark on their first date about him misunderstanding this song was meant as a joke/borderline insult from her but he went home and studied the song to perfection. A simple phrase that meant nothing to her meant the world to him. She now realized that she has become the maneater that is going to destroy this kid. Such a beatiful scene and really a great movie, not at all what I expected.

This was clearly a wonderful addition to the heart warming quality of this movie... I think the reason why it has left such a mark on my heart is that it has a solid combination of sexual comedy and heartfelt emotions... And especially having Jennifer Lawrence as this fiesty and badass guardian/mom girlfriend to a lonely and insecure 19 year old virgin boy is something that really tugs on my heart strings...😢🙂❤

This is exactly what we know of the character so far (needs money, Tow truck guy, running away from any real relationship. A perfect slow pan to JL character. “Oh there she goes, watch out boy she’ll chew you up”. Eyes start to water, long slow blinking, heavy breathing as if she’s hit with a cannon ball to the chest. Then she swallows hard and looks like she is about to break down in tears but forcing herself to not feel vulnerable (as she always has). At this point you know she is internalizing these lyrics and they are hitting her. HARD. JL played this perfect, portraying a wave of emotions without saying a single word. At this point, I think is where she falls for him based on how defensive she got when the girl frim his HS came up to him Very impressed with his playing/ singing, I think she’s also realizing that omg actually I am not good enough for him opposite of what she thought before. I love how tentatively he plays in the beginning and slowly builds to earnest, into full on confidence and pouring his emotions out. This was by far the scene of the movie
