Wooow. What a nice and adventurous journey !!! It feels me that there are so many wonders of the world would remain unknown and unseen for me and many before leaving the world.
If Pakistan govt relaxes visa normas for Indians, I certainly would be travelling all through Karakoram highway upto Kashgar. This is just beautiful and adventurous to travel on this highway.
+AL Shara, Yes, everyone was very friendly and willing to share their own stories as well as the history of the region. The Frontier Police are particularly helpful and, with their advice, insure your safety in the region. I hope you get there one day ...... thanks for your comment. Rod
This is what I call real adventure and one day soon I will follow your path and visit the area but will continue to Kashgar where my grands used to live before immigrating to Saudi Arabia centuries ago . Thanks for sharing bro.
Good evening , mr McDonald .. I was in Pakistan in August this year 2016, I stayed for 3 weeks and contemplated so much to travel in the northern regions but was knocked back on time. I so want to visit Gilgit- Skardu areas and Nanga Parbat . I'm from an area in Azad Kashmir where a large dam was built by Europeans mostly from U.K. called Mangla Dam. I travelled upto pindi / ISB and Muree, Peshawar areas .in one day!!. I will want to visit Chitral Swat Valley region soon on my next visit . I believe that there is minority Kalash tribe community long believed to be descendants of Alexander the Greats army and it would be fascinating to see these people & habitat . Thank you for a positive outlook on the land of Pakistan/society and you are most welcome anytime sir.
Great video! I'm hoping to go see this road, but I wont bother with the whole trip. I would love to just drive on the HWY for 3 hours, and then turn around. No point doing the whole 3-day trip to Pak IMO.
Roderick you're more than welcome to come revisit some day, there's a lot of development going on in these areas, you'll find it more comfortable now.. And excellent work with the camera.. From Pakistan
Thank you so much for your kind comments Zaheer. I would love to come back one day. Pakistan (and particularly the area of Hunza) is such a beautiful country ......
+Masayu Abdullah, Thanks so much for your kind comment. I passed it on Fahd, I'm sure he will be thrilled. Good luck on your upcoming trip. Someone who is a real expert in this area is Moin Khan. You can follow his exploits in the region at facebook.com/moinkhanada or ua-cam.com/video/LsvDREuiWWE/v-deo.html

hi Mr.R.Macdonald i watch your video now in 2016 now here many roads have been constructed I never go there but I am very hopeful to go till khunjerab pass in future and thanks for exploring the beautify of Pakistan ..
You are welcome Waqar Khan and thank you for your kind comment. I hope that you get there one day. You are right, it is a beautiful country and an awe inspiring part of this world.
@Roderick Macdonald Nice video detail of your travel. Would you have an idea how much does it costs to rent an SUV with driver from Islamabad to Gilgit ? Many Thanks!
Thanks for your question Shahzad. Everything was arranged for us through the Serena Hotel at Gilgit see: www.serenahotels.com/serenagilgit/default-en.html I would contact them directly for up to date pricing. Good luck and best wishes
When I was in Hunza I did meet a French cyclist who was bicycling from China into Pakistan. I thought this was a somewhat risky venture for many reasons. If you are thinking about bicycling the Karakoram Highway I would make sure you plan it with a local who knows the rules and the security situation and I would not ride at night. Good luck and best wishes
I recommend reading the State Department travel warning at: travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/alertswarnings/pakistan-travel-warning.html Good luck
