This created a serious situation in Portland OR which already had an acute shortage of affordable housing and a burgeoning homeless issue . More than 1,100 family housing units were removed from, the local market over a very short time.

Comets are like asteroids but more icy than rocky - they come out of the distant parts of our solar system and can be visible for days. They are notable because of their tails. Meteors are smaller rocks that usually burn up in our atmosphere. If anything reaches the Earth's surface, that remnant is called a meteorite. Larger asteroids may be called meteors, but the understanding is that they cause damage, sometimes very severe. I intend no disrespect. Thanks for reading. P.S. Airbnb sucks. It's gotten ridiculously expensive. I used to use them because they were a better deal than the hotels when they were new. But the property hosts have gotten greedy and the guests are all too willing to pay ridiculous prices. I don't use Airbnb anymore, I'm happy going back to hotels again. Good riddance Airbnb, keep your gentrification out of my city!

AirBNB needs to make a big disclosure about the fact they are not liable for their guests - they are only a 3rd party hooking up to different parties. If you get assaulted and or robbed - you're on your own. So, I'm not really interested in the CEO of AirBNB blather on and on - while he's making billions off of unsafe dwellings.

My last airb&b was horrible. The place marketed two beds in the room. When we got there, it was an abed with a couch. The place was not clean and the bathroom had mold. The cost for the room was barely less than the hotel. This year, I’m staying in a hotel

The problem with airbnb's business plan is that it will only serve a very small segment of the upper 1%. Would you want anybody to know that you spent that kind of money on a self-indulgent fantasy. How embarrassing.
Airbnb is a pariah on our communities & has immeasurably exacerbated the homeless crisis across the country. It's great that homeowners are able to profit from their investments, but the Airbnb scheme makes it impossible for everyone else to afford a home, or just find one to rent. Airbnb should have been regulated, years before the pandemic was set loose on us, but it's not too late. They've made it nearly impossible to live in NYC w/o paying 80% of your income to rent alone.

Airbnb doesn't play fair with the cities that ban short-term rentals - if a city has banned short-term rentals (like what Airbnb offers), Airbnb doesn't block bookings made to properties being run illegally by law-breaking "hosts." It would be a very simple thing for Airbnb to program its software to block these illegal bookings. Instead, Airbnb says it relies on the hosts to abide by their city's laws, which then forces the cities to spend time & taxpayer money going after these illegal hosts. NYC had to take Airbnb to court to gain their cooperation with the city's housing laws. Smaller cities don't have the financial means to sue Airbnb. It's unscrupulous for Airbnb not to cooperate with cities that have banned short-term rentals.
AirBnB is a scourge that damned entire generations to never becoming homeowners. There’s 500 AirBnB properties in my small town of 4000 people.

Trash cans overflow bc these visitors don't give a crap (it's not THEIR neighborhood, after all), and the irresponsible, absentee "hosts" don't give a crap either. They park vehicles in the driveways in such a manner that they block the sidewalk so that people with disabilities are forced to step off the curb into the street and go around the offending vehicle -- something that local, full-time residents & renters don't do, and more behavior that screws up a neighborhood vibe. Motels & hotels provide housing for short-term visits and they are appropriately located in areas that are zoned as commercial, not residential.
My congradulations and respect to the graduates of this college for protesting with such dignity and restraint. This shows wisdom, respect and dignity beyond their years. The other colleges in this country should immulate their actions.

My AIRBNB rental experience totally contradicted the nothing but good reviews that the property had. The place was horrible. I left an honest review on it, stating what went wrong, and the property owner was able to get my review removed. I will NEVER trust an AIRBNB property again.

I don't know much about Architecture but at this point with so many nature disasters, house structures should be build with metal. It will cost more to keep re building homes over and over again.
Google claims steel frames const only 5% more than wood. The good thing is it last longer because it is stornger and much more durable than wood under high winds, and water and is helpful agains termites and fungus, and other damaging and corrosive nature materials.
