- Today, in this first part of a three-part series, I'll show you how to carve some dramatic beads in a very simple way. All you need is:
- clay in two or three complementary colors
- a way to roll your clay out pretty thin (#4 on my Atlas),
- an exacto knife.
Yes, that's all you need!
Stay tuned for parts two and three for more carving of clay in different ways for more bead fun! Thanks for visiting my channel!

Genius tips! Thank you! 😊
Love this! thank you
I think you read my mind. I was watching someone carve into a vase made from ceramic clay and wondered if it could be done with polymer clay. He had dipped the vase in to different colors and then carved in to the top plain clay color. Now I’ve definitely got to try it. Thanks for sharing.
You are very welcome! Thank you for your kind comment and good luck!

How fun. I actually like the beads that use the cuttings, especially on another color. Thanks for sharing. I did learn something new that I will do for sure.
I really like your polymer clay videos. Will look forward to more.
Wow, thank you for the compliment! I'm so glad you are learning something new, and liking it! Thanks again!

Thank you so much, sweet lady!
Love the beads and technique Priscilla. I can see me using up left over clay to make these, loved the lentil bead, great effect. Thank you for sharing xx
Thanks Tracey! ❤
Brilliant as usual🥰
Thank you!
Question: you stated no more than a 6. Does that mean no thicker? Or thinner? Some have machines where a 1 is thickest and others a 1 is thinnest. So, not real thick so you don’t have to scoop in deeply? More like a shave? Great video!
Great question! My machine goes from 1 to 7. Four is ideal so it's thin enough to cut but not too thin to see. I guess it will be trial and error to see what you like best. Thank you!
Sorry, I flubbed again. Mine goes from 1 to 7, with 1 being the thickest setting.
Did you bake the bead before you added the other colors?
No, they were not baked before cutting into them.
