  • Hello!
Welcome to the channel. When I began, I had the worlds slowest internet so I uploaded a lot of the first classes in parts. Well, haha, I have better speed so I'm consolidating all those parts into single classes. So much simpler.
In this tutorial, you'll make a hollow, carved bead - maybe you already knew that?
    Enjoy!

Ok, first of all, I also said "ok" a lot when I was teaching, Used at the beginning, it deliniates a new thought or process about to start (so pay attention!) and at the end, it says "did ya get that?... understand it?" and it gives your brain a moment to reset without going "uhmmmmm" ...Ok?? Ok!! LOL! Ok, second, Awesome tute!!! You are so thorough! I actually used to do hand engraving on gold, silver & platinum before my health forced my to retire (jewelry designer) and I became to weak. I had no idea that you could do so much with carving clay & am excited because I have enough strength for that! Am betting all my gravers will work for it too! Also, I was thinking it had a cool folk art or tribal vibe too, thanks Donna!

I watched a tutorial where a lady took all those little carvings scraps and chopped them up and added them to clay for texture. No waist.🙃😄

When I saw the picture I said, “Absolutely Not!! No Way am I making this!! But I cannot resist watching your tutorials.
Your voice is soothing (which I needed today), so I started to watch and I didn’t even realize that I was looking for Pearl clay because I know I have it BUT DARN, I need to buy Blackout 😡. I am placing my order today.
I wanted to find the tutorial on Plumeria flowers and now I can’t wait to make these sgraffiò domes.
You are always amazing with your expertise and immeasurable proficiency of the art of PolymerClay but then you raise the bar with this beautiful carving. Just magnificent. Keep safe and well 🤗♥️

Very nice tutorial. I made Christmas tree balls using glass balls as a base. I then added various decorations to the base on each one. I got this idea from Fiona Able-Smith who has many super tutorials. Your tutorial allows me to add something different to this fun project. Last year at our annual family Christmas gathering all guests were given the opportunity to choose one of the balls to take home with them. I made two sizes of the balls. The larger ones were a bit heavy to hang on the Christmas tree but the smaller ones were perfect for this. Anyway, Thank you for a great tutorial and I now have something new to try.

While watching, I got the idea to use this technique to make tiny, hollow pumpkins for my witch’s dollhouse in which I can insert a seed bulb and actually make them light up. I have steel ball bearings that are maybe 3/4” in diameter. I could use a thicker knitting needle to indent the vertical lines to create the pattern of a pumpkin. Then after baking I could carve faces in them. Maybe this will be my project for the day. 🎃 I’m thinking if I do a darker orange for the base layer, I can carve vertical lines in to reveal the darker clay. Then, I can shade the vertical indents with calk pastels on the raw clay. It will be fun to play with this!

Mrs Donna, ❤️❤️❤️ You are amazing! What a beautiful tutorial. I never tried carving. Usually, I may do some cuts using the x-cacto. You have given me so many ideas watching this tutorial.
    I've got 2 questions.
You used Loctite to glue the two halves. Can we use liquid clay instead, since the bead will need to be cured?
The second question might sound a bit silly. As with most things, if dropped accidentally, they will probably break. Does a hollow bead will easily break, if dropped?
    Thanks a lot 😘☺️

    • @DonnaKatoArt
      @DonnaKatoArt  Рік тому +1

Hi Annita, ok, liquid clay would require curing before wrapping with the two color sheet so CA glue is best.
Once you wrap it and cure it, you needn’t worry about dropping and breaking.
      😊❤️
