Thanks a bunch. I'm a senior lady and your video gave me the confidence to take my poor Roomba apart for cleaning. So easy. All those felt washers that came out weren't washers after all. Good grief. No wonder the poor thing was acting anemic.
Bought my roomba 650 for 60usd....with one virtual wall and docking station, we love it! I am for sure getting another one lol. Also aside from the cutter their should be a special tool in the package, it looks like a ring with teeth. It's to clean the rotating brush. Just place the brush in the ring, one firm pull and all the hair will be off it.
Thanks for your great video! We have a central vacuum, however the iRobot does the job under the beds, etc. Since we went to all ceramic and hardwood floors, we don’t use the central vacuum almost not at all. The iRobot does everything. When I change the furnace filter I find that even after 10 weeks there’s almost nothing there (ranch home built in 2003). Thanks for your effort and time!
Bro blow it all out with the leaf blower . Take it apart and hit it all with the blower. That what I do I have the same one for 7 years. Love that thing.
Roomba 614. Took it apart a bit further than you did. The cleaning box. Separated the black and the gray, there is a little screw that holds the contact plug in place. The cleaning box has a motor and 2 brushes. There is a 1/8 inch red sticker on the black plastic. Under this sticker there is a flexible plastic "wire" or "needle" with a small ball-anchor. The ball remains in the socket under the red sticker, and the plastic "needle" follows a channel in the pulley of the motor. The motor appears to be freely swinging in its socket along its rotor-axle. As the motor turns left-right, the pulley moves. There is a small hole at the end of the pulley channel, where the plastic "needle" appears to enter. This element does not appear to be sold separately. I think I need a replacement of this "needle". Do you know how long is this "needle" and what is the purpose? I think I can use weed-eater string or fishing line, they come at different diameters. Any idea?
A very useful video, plus I was able to tell what issues had my roomba 650 to charge, was due to the external brush. It was too large and was passing by the charging sensor, therefore I just cut a little to ensure was not covering it, however the best would be bending the brushes a little to avoid them touching the sensor -I figured out with that after cutting the edges of the brushes-
Thank you!!!! Muchas gracias, mi roomba tiene 5 años y nunca le hice esta limpieza, estaba por tirarla a la basura! My roomba is 5 YOand I thought that it was ready for the trash, 😱 but not, you helped me so much :)))
You keep comparing this to an upright vaccuum. I don't get why people prefer them. They are not best for hard surface floors. They are not best for a variety of tasks like under furniture, close to furniture, etc, etc. For those of you that want to wash or rinse the filter-- We got our first Roomba 12 years ago. In those days I washed the filters. In those days they also were not very durable with heavy use so I upgrades several times and got higher effiency filters. I suspect that those could be damage by rinsing or washing.

Excellent video! Was way over due for a cleaning, and this helped tremendously. Thanks!

Mine didn't come with a screwdriver like yours. Can we order one from iRobot?
My Roomba just became 10 years old and still works great, I just had to replace battery once.

Thank you very much. I didn't realize that that little top wheel just popped right off.
You're welcome!
I took apart the front small wheel and now it is very loose and won't stay in the holder it will fall off is I hold it up right any help
You can wash the filter with dish soap
Mine says specifically not to rinse the filter. I have a 690. The urge to wash the filter is killing me.

Roomba 614 is not charging. Cleaned the contact, same. Green light lits for a min then goes out. I believe the battery is gone. Battery shows 0 V.
do you have to replace the filter? How often?
I just clean mine.
Has anyone ever washed the pullout dust tray?? Like submerged it in soap & water??
I wouldn’t.
@@jettlash1000 I took mine apart into 6 pieces and scrubbed everything using a soapy spray bottle and a toothbrush. Came out very clean.
@@daltonschannel8405 There are screws in the dust tray, so i wouldn't clean it with water and soap. But it not a bad idea to clean with wet wipes.
Thank you. Nice and usable video.
Thanks!

Sadly, much of the video seems to be off-frame to the top.
I'll be shooting another (better) video shortly on the 650. It's a beast, the Hummer of the robotic vacuums.
thank u!!!
