    Basic science should be taught in high school like this instead of through boring text books. You take a child's interest sense of wonder and investigate the principles of the science behind these tricks and the kids will be far more engaged and learn so much more.

      @@andyshinskate you don't know just how happy that makes me. I had to retire just as I completed my ba hons primary education as I developed stage 4 non hodgkins lymphoma, I lost my left lung and lymph glands but it saved my life but at a heavy cost. Since then I have beaten it 3 times but sadly on my 5th which I will never be free of. Though I felt cheated from a career I was so excited to begin I've since made my peace with it but maybe one day I can take those skills and volunteer to teach art which has become an obsession for me in my local community centre. I hope that I can do some good with all that studying I did but time will tell I guess.

    I needed several minutes contemplating the transfer of forces why it worked @13:00. Really cool. Perhaps another alternative... unroll a single paper clip, bend a hook at the end to attach a string with weight. Show putting that on desk edge won't support weight. Put a 90degree bend in paperclip then put it back on the desk edge. Does it support weight?

    I'm loving this! I just wish a couple more stuff was explained. Like is that water at 4:45? How/why does it do that? I'm marathoning these kinds of videos trying to write about the science of it so knowing why and how this stuff is happening would be much loved! Some explain themselves but like that one I just assume its water and want to know how its gelling/crystalizing instead of evaporating.

    • @jacoblack6498
      @jacoblack6498 2 роки тому +2

      Yes it was water, and when water is on a hot enough surface the rapid evaporation causes a layer of steam with enough pressure between the water and hot metal surface to cause the water to hover kind of like an air hockey puck.
      The water looks to be in beads because of the surface tension when it's hovering keeps it together

      And could well be an excellent alternative to the way we teach science in schools. When I took my ba hons in primary education we spoke at length of the challenges teachers often face when trying to get the children interested in science and this could be the answer. Let's bring back that sense of wonder and imagination into the classroom, you show a class of kids any trick like this and allow them to research and reveal the science behind the tricks they will walk away from the lesson with a more positive attitude towards science. It just makes sense.

    3:17 the answer to your question is that when you hit the bottle it creates a small vacuum so when the water comes back down the air has nowhere to go so the bottle breaks. With the sparkling water, when the vacuum is created at the bottom of the bottle, the carbonation fills it and pushes the air back out the top. Your welcome.

    3:00 the gas in the water resits the force the water would apply on the bottom kinda like a spring or a sponge. Shock waves would travel down the bottle or the actual glass as you hit it but not break the bottle. I imagine the wave traveling through the water to look like a upside down cone since you have the small tip form on the surface as you hit the bottle and it the probably expands downwards until it hits the bottom of the bottle which the breaks at the closest weakest point which would be right above the bottom. Thats just speculation. But for sure the gas in the water disrupts the flow of the shock wave trough the water in a similar way that sound canceling panels breaks up sound. In both cases the "vibration" becomes divided and chaotic so the particles cannot work together to form one single wave\force that would flow in one direction and have much more energy combined.

      The bottles break with water due to the vacuum created when you smack the bottle on the top the bottle goes down but the water doesnt go down nearly a fast and thus a small vacuum is created between the water and the bottom of the bottle, which in turn sucks the water back smashing through the bottom. Why it doesnt work woth soda idk though
