Handwriting Tips for Your Planner

- Hello all! First, I apologize that this video is not "planned out" and I was just "winging it." I had many requests for a handwriting video as it relates to how I write in my planners. Please let me know what other types of writing you would like me to show you or in what types of planner pages you would like to see me plan in, with lettering only.
I wrote with a Pilot Precise V5 pen on Moleskine lined paper. The small red 3-ring binder the pages were in is actually an address book I found at Office Depot a long time ago. I have extra paper inside for quick notes, brainstorming, and brain dumping! Hope you enjoyed! TFW!!!

Oh my gosh! Lol - I couldn't figure out why I wasn't happy with my planning or my planner pages... I'm not big on decoration as I want my planner to be 100% function 1st and foremost but... the cute lettering has done it! I am sooo happy! It's visually appealing/interesting as well as functional!

TOTAL GAME CHANGER!! It seems like such a simple thing, however, I did not think of it!! I'm not great at all that planner decorating jazz but with the lettering it is enough for me!! Thank you for sharing, I will be practicing for sure. Keep the videos coming. Thanks.

Just beautiful. For some reason, I seem to be losing my ability to keep my lettering consistent as I get older. It is so frustrating! This was fun to watch.
handwriting seems like such a simple, self-explanatory thing, but when I starting watching this i was so mesmerized!!! I've never been happy with my handwriting.. this is really inspiring! can't wait to get home and try some of these tips😍😍
Thanks for this informative video. You made it simple that I find myself practicing my penmanship while watching this. I have subscribed and bookmarked this for future reference. I love your videos! I really enjoy your organization and color coding in your planners. If you plan with stamps I would love to see that. I am new to planning and your videos were my firsts to inspire me. It also was nice to see that you were from Louisiana since I am too. I saw BR and was so excited.
+Trang Nguyen Thank you Trang! I do plan with stamps, but right now it's limited to the small stickers I made with Avery labels. (see my Part 1 Fall 2015 Planning video I just posted). If I had more time, I would definitely use them more. Maybe I'll make a video just on stamping....hmmm. Let me know if you would want something like that in a future video. :)

Wow, you really hold your pen higher than I do. I'm going to try that (have the same pen) and see if that helps. I like that you "wung" it!
i am so fascinated by this video.. :-) So in my school we were taught to write in cursive right from the start so I used to think everyone was as well..

Just seeing this & I love it. I hate my hand writing, I'm always in a hurry & it gets very hard to read...even for me I use both cursive and printing when writing which is hard to read.Growing up I too used to practice, I'd write a differnt way in journalling. I would love to get a hard copy of your aphabets and maybe days of the week , months etc. to take with me so I can practice anytime I have a minute. I think this kind of writing is so pretty. I REALLY need to be able to write quickly as my brain has so many things to write down, especially when I'm teaching! I would love to have a certain style and your's is great! Would love to see a video on how you keep your planner ( unless you have and I missed it! I see this has been up awhile) ;-} Thanks

you write cursive lettering really fast but you pause between your letters, which mesmerizes me for some reason LOL. I have always been obsessed with my handwriting. I write my name a million times....on everything....especially if I'm on hold or if I'm waiting on an appointment or something. Thanks for sharing! :)

This was super helpful! My handwriting is so awful, I wasn't allowed to use a pen in elementary school...I was relegated to a pencil by my teachers (the use of a pen had to be "earned"). I think I will take your tips and keep practicing.

I was lucky. I went to a parochial grade school where cursive is still taught. I've always been told I write like a nun....which is a HUGE compliment, since all the Sisters at school had BEAUTIFUL penmanship. Also, I was an art major in college and learned calligraphy while in high school. I use calligraphy as headers and on labels in my planners. Yes, it took pratice and now it is like second nature to me.

+T H E | S W A T C H | L I F E My biggest advice is to slow down the speed of your writing and, as you said, practice a lot. When I slow down and make deliberate strokes, it seems to help. TFW!!!

would be helpful if you actually went through one of your days with how you set it up and how the different handwriting applies... you mentioned doing it, I was disappointed you didn't add that in there!

+Rachel Dunaway hi I am wondering something. You say emphasise on the down stroke of a letter but what about the a letter you go down on both sides? can I do both down strokes or do I need to do only 1 side always. and if yes is there a rule that says wich side you need to emphasise on ?

Thought I would tell you that your "b" and "f" look the same.
I noticed that too
when they are written in a word or phrase, distinguishing them would be much easier because the f would have a tail going lower while the b would have its arm going higher :)
