THIS IS WHY I ENJOY GREAT MUSIC🚶♂️💙🎶
I just remembered the song title from having the CD ages ago, and searched for it as I though it nicely fits to some countries' reaction to the ongoing COVID-19-epidemic. Little did I know what kind of a show I would be getting here...
Good governance is possible. Let's hope those who enter positions of public power and responsibility do it for the right reason. ie to create a fair and equal society, culturally and artistically diverse for all to enjoy. Love this artist. John Butler....one of Australia's great musos.....
A true display of MUSIC.. glory to john butler's sheer talent..
I don't know why is this song watched so less as compared to his other song videos..
This show would have been so unreal to see with all the backups and everything, woow..One of the few times I regret being Canadian lol
comment les 5 personne peuve ne pas aimer????? c'est fou sa!!! super musicien!!!!
I love this track for the fullness of the music. Rock and Jazz. Very diverse in its delivery and origin. Very New Orleans at the end of the track. Wow how many government situations have you seen anguish and the government do nothing. Wow very powerful.
this is probably the most eclectic combination of musical skill and style i've ever seen
good to see some people understand what the song is about ^^ thank you man
This is a brillaint song, with a brilliant message.
This guy is an awesome musician..big up from a bob marley fan!
Tears in ma eyes, cause its that beautiful!
these guys are true musicians! saw them in Chicago at Lollapalooza.... please come to Canada soon!

@OutWanderin The drummer's name is Michael Barker. The bass player is Shannon Birchhall ;)
i miss the 'old' trio
yeah, that's kinda how it feels, he/they're so good it's almost out of this world
me too. and she doesn't use any words, amazing, isn't it :)
@Drennan3 Actually, this is a song about the U.S. government, in relation to helping the victims of cyclone Katrina (2005) in the Southern United States, who were mostly African-Americans. An absolutely amazing song, too. Love the jams! :D
4:36 :O Impressive! I've seen this video countless time and never noticed Shannon drumming with one hand while playing bass with his other! These three band members truly are talented.
genialidad absoluta, gracias.
sweet as!!
@ETGuitarist yeah man with something to toke thats pure pleasure and reflection...
onelove....

j adore le style
Pure fucking awesome
@Bindlossclun lap slide guitar
its hundreds of years old, but its only recently its started popping up again :)
theirs a chap called "eric mongrain" who does a song called "air tap" that uses a simular technique
God Bless the people who had to deal with the wrath of Katrina. Goooood tune!
top demais...
@Drennan3 Although John has spoken on such things before, he is specifically referring to Hurricane Katrina in the US.
agreed legandary
awesome: they really clap their hands on 2 and 4 :D
This song is about a lot of events and things. Katrina, the war in the Middle East, some Australian refugee incident I believe. Simply about how the goverement rarely cares about its people.
Amoooooooo
No worries buddy.
Yeah it is one of my favourites
@Ub4ntish One Bob Marley extra crispy coming up. haha. One Love.
she killed it lol
ŚWIETNE!
and also the very swing/calypso beat reminiscent of New Orleans jazz horn ensembles
that las screaming..... primo
Come to New England
she does sing! 0o
@youfelixzim i was wondering what that was! thanks for the clarification
Wow :)
@DontRunBand it was Lousiana jam version of Dark Side of the Moon xD
Always reminds me of "Great Gig in the Sky" by Pink Floyd. Check that out if you haven't heard that.
Awesome. Feel sorry for the clarinettist. Plays his heart out from 7:40 onwards and all we get to see are all of the other musicians backing him up.
killer :)
@Drennan3 Actually the song topic is about 'gov did nothin'' for hurricane Katrina victims, nothing to do with Australia. Listen to the lyrics. Listen to the drums and feel of the song, its based around the New Orleans 2nd line rhythm, listen to the brass solo.
the new orleans jazz style band makes me believe that this is 100 percent about katrina haha...plus some other lines give it away if you listen closley
EPIC SONG!!
well the entire song is in a new orleans style shuffle so that really adds to the effect
Damn! What a piece of music! Nothing less than fantastic!
Just a little question: is the man with the hat and the trumpet from Denmark ? :)
- He is wearing a "Bevar Christiania" shirt!
@DontRunBand I believe it's about more than just Katrina. Katrina is just one part of the song. What about "G be Indiana Jones'n diggin up the east stealin dinosaur bones'n/He don't dream of stoppin/Chasin his tail trying to find Bin Laden"
That to me sounds like anti war lyrics.
Jaw dropper
The camera people probably didn't know where the hell that inane solo was coming from :D
@jellygoeswobble No no no, hes so epic that the devil needs to do deals with him. case in point; "Devil running".
Whats up when your comment doesn't post. From one Katrina/Rita survivor.
nope must have been something else oh well Thank you You Tube
@Ub4ntish Have you seen his covers of Get Up Stand Up. Some sweet vids on the UA-cam brother!
Songsticks:
Im sure you will get offended by this even though it isnt near my purpose, JBT's purpose for his music is very similar to Bob Marley's in that he wants to bring people together not tear them down, so whether you like or dislike bush or obama, why do you want to tear them down? they are human and mess up just like everyone else, but tearing them down helps no one...as americans we have our right to say and believe what we want, but we shouldnt abuse that freedom with hate.
@Drennan3 i thought it was about bush doing fuck all when hurricane katrina hit new orleans
they're talking about how the Australian gov basically has done nothing to help the indigenous people ..the true owners of the land kinda like Canada and the native population here
@OutWanderin hehe ;) happens for everyone ;)
@Drennan3 please tell me your kidding and that your really know that its the American Gov and Hurricane Katrina
hahaha john made them stop jammin
It's called the Happy Little Vegemite song
This song is about every Government that furthered their own agenda's at the expense of minority groups and ethnicities within their own nation. He does use Katrina, Bin Laden, the war on terror and the "children overboard" incidents as points to bolster the message within his lyrics.
@Mojoman1911 katrina who?
Was it " what has your government did for you" Speaking to people of USA
bydrvd Since this comment has anything got any better? I would say not.
Hello.. Nope, not offended at all.
But hey, it's not just americans who have the right to say and believe what you want !! Now listen to this track again at 1.50 onwards and tell me that the lyrics aren't implying the bush government to be racist. Also, notice that at the end of the track they bring in a new orleans style jazz band.. so to me that means what the tracks about is the floods in new orleans and "tearing down" the government for doing nothing to help them
bad mistakes I can forgive
thumbs up if you miss the dreads
some one else has rainbowpagan so i went with gun
Hey it's true. Gov did nothing and they RARELY do. The fuck is up with that?
not sure about that, look at Somalia
captain obvious strikes again
Yeah. Those three days sucked. But then our government did everything about it.
i love jbt and know they're political views, but it's not up to the gov't to help people. it's up to people to help themselves.
