Very common in those days I grew up in the 60s. None of my childhood friends had parents who didn't smoke. They don't quit during pregnancy none that I saw. The only people I knew of who didn't smoke were Mormons.
I always wondered why January Jones real life pregnancy wasn't written into her and Henry having a child rather than that weird weight gain story. Maybe it just wouldn't have fit in.
I wondered about that too. But then I realized oh, the unexpected weight gain when you turn a certain age is very much part of every woman’s narrative, and that’s why.
Lots of people hate Don: yes, he is a serial cheater; he is workaholic; however, during this period of time (Betty is pregnant), Don is very supportive of her: when Betty is so upset about her brother’s greedy towards her father, Don told her brother that he will take in Beth’s father even though they hate each other; that shows Don’s good heart. And when Beth’s father was sick (before this scene), even Don was kicked out of the house, he went straight to Beth and companies with B to see her father. therefore, Betty kicked him out right after they came home from the visit. Beth gave the 3rd boy her father’s name despite Don’s history with him, well Don accepted it. During the S3, he still kept cheating on Beth but he is always supporting her during her pregnancy.
"How can you talk to me in the condition that I'm in"?- pregnant, drinking wine & smoking!-classic!
K M I assume nobody knew it was bad for the baby?
It was known already, but still legal to claim othervise in the advertisements,
That line was very amusing. The irony
Smoking was like chewing gum in those days it wasn't viewed as a problem.
Pregnant, drinking and smoking hahaha
That the 60s

Youre going to stare at an antique chair for so long, the buttons will seem interesting.
