well I do, and I know a lot of other people that do, its why I dont watch many modern movies anymore, I feel the whole field of acting and writing has taken a huge hit in performance level the last 10 years mostly. However those that gives a shit are not plentiful enough to bring in the bucks for the movies. Its probably 10-15 procent and the rest doesn't give a shit.

    • @TellusJD
      @TellusJD 12 днів тому

@ For any modern movies I'd recommend several of Tarantinos movies, for acting I like
once upon a time in Hollywood,
The hateful 8(very underrated tarantino movie),
      Django Unchained.
In general any movie John Travolta plays a bad guy - face off, fx. while plot is weird the acting is great, from Nicolas Cage and John Travolta.
Collateral for great acting the one movie Tom Cruise plays seriously well.
Many of Christopher Nolans Movies, while not focused on acting skills alone they have really great concepts and directing.
      Especially:
      Inception
      Interstellar
For great acting there are also classics like
      The Godfather series 1, 2, and 3
Another Instructor that makes actors do greatness although his movies are pretty dark is Lars Von Trier ie.:
      Dancing in the Dark
      Antichrist
Dogville :is weird but seriously great acting from Nicole kidman - probably the best female actor in my opinion.
I generally think a lot of Nicolas cage movies are great too, though he is getting memed for his antiques.
      Leaving las Vegas
      Face off
      and many more.
Brad pitt also is not only famous for his looks.
      Fight Club
      12 monkeys
      Seven
Kevin Spacey seriously good actor too
      American Beauty
      The Usual Suspect
Anyway I could go on forever

It is very nice to hear the regard in which Waltz holds Tarantino, even so much as to deflect praise unto Tarantino as if Waltz was undeserving.

The combination of Tarantinos Characters and someone who really fits are the best thing happened in cinema the last 40 years and you have to give Tarantino most of the credit for being so persistent not to just make a movie with anybody. Also he puts people in characters they are not really known for and reviving or starting careers.

While he is at the top in capability, we should remember that the top is huge. So many people want to be actors, so logically there are far more good actors than roles. Without someone like Tarantino deciding to use them constantly as an asset, they are not likely to be well known. Its a problem in much of everything we do, although in academia they try to make it more result oriented, but ever there who you know will matter.

Fun fact about German adaptations of Tarantino movies: Whenever Christopher Waltz speaks, it usually sticks out like a sore thumb since he - obviously - synchronizes his own characters for the German audience. Other German actors are usually taught to sound as comprehensible as possible, to a degree that they almost sound like robots.

Christoph Waltz is an amazing actor, he can play parts that are pure evil while giving the audience the sense that maybe he is evil or maybe not. To me (other people have their own opinions, perhaps people of significantly more credibility than mine for the acting profession), he has this ability to add dimensions to characters other actors struggle to match. Tarantino has been able to tap into that talent. IMHO. Nice video montage Via Cinema. well done. bravo

There are actors that build a character on their own and improvise lines, adding to the script, and that's a good thing in it's own right.
When an actor wanders off the script, Quinton tells them to do what he wrote. Christophe is the perfect actor to complement what a Tarantino or a Kubrick want in an actor. Someone that can read the script, adhere to it, and bring it to life through their action.
I can appreciate both ways of film making, but I truly feel that most of the most beautiful and iconic film making happens when a Writer/Director has a strict vision and the actors can bring that vision to life for us all to enjoy.

    • @Viacinemaa
