Makes: 330g of Nutella (11.6oz)
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Storage: The spread keeps for 6 days in the fridge
INGREDIENTS (US):
5oz brown sugar, or icing sugar
4oz firm tofu (drained)
1.8oz toasted hazelnut butter (3 tbsp)
0.2oz vanilla extract (1 tsp)
0.8oz cocoa powder
When measuring ingredients, make sure that all the measurements are level. This means discarding the ingredients that rise above the rim of the measuring cup, tsp, tbsp .etc. The back of a knife works perfectly for this.
INGREDIENTS (International):
140g brown sugar, or icing sugar
110g firm tofu (drained)
50g toasted hazelnut butter
5g vanilla extract (1 tsp)
23g cocoa powder
TIPS:
- The spread will thicken as it cools down, and it will become just like Nutella when you place it in the fridge. If you want to obtain an even thicker spread, use the firmest tofu you can find.

Now, on to the less intense but fun part. I went Vegan about 6 weeks ago. There were a few things that I really missed eating but eventually got around to finding substitutes for within a week. But, Nutella was the last piece in that puzzle!

I used slightly less sugar (powdered sugar) and I used a tiny bit less cocoa and it tastes SO GOOD. From what I can remember it tastes like the same thing too! I recommend!!

Thank you so much. I made a double batch of this today and it was DELICIOUS. Used half the sugar and it was more than sweet enough. Bought pre roasted hazelnuts and used silken tofu. It's really not much work at all to make. I've also tried your cookies in the past and they were are also amazing.

Wow! I would've never guessed that tofu was included in this recipe! I eat in my salad, but never have tried it as a spread! I am definitely giving this recipe a go! The color is dark and rich!

I made this nutella and it is by far the best recipe for vegan nutella that I have found! I made even non vegan versions, but they didn't turned out so rich and decadent like this one! And the nutrition facts are also very good^^ (Yeah, it has a lot of sugar, but hey...it's nutella :D)

It's difficult to say, as it is not really a choice. These videos take a lot of time to do, and at the moment we are working too much to have the time to film recipes as well. Hopefully we'll be able to get back to this in the future :)
Just made this, It's sooo good! I used maple syrup instead of sugar because it was very dry, I had to ad some oatmilk too:) Delicous!
I couldn't get it as smooth as in this video though, but that may be because it wasn't as runny as yours:)

Apart from capers, nutella used to be the other thing I would eat straight out of the jar! That was until I found out I was allergic to a lot of nuts (and seeds). No wonder I was always sick as a child. But then I had to sadly stop eating nutella. *sigh* I guess there isn't anything that could replace the hazelnut butter and still call it nutella. Great recipe though. :)

The Vegan Corner ah peanut butter gives me the worst allergy. I can tolerate brazil nuts, pecans and macadamias to a certain extent. I might try with macadamias if I can find some, they are also very creamy.

You can definitely give it a try in a food processor, but you might find it a bit more difficult to obtain a smooth spread. That being said, it won't have any impact on the flavour, so it might be worth trying it. Thanks for your support!

this looks amazing. the sugar in the video looked white but recipe calls for brown. I'm a bit confused.
Kari Eats Plants Thanks Kari, much appreciated as usual! The ingredient list is actually correct; in this part of the world brown sugar ranges from barely brown (almost white) to dark brown. However, for the sake of being thorough, I edited the ingredient list. You can use any dry granulated sugar you want and they will all turn out to be pure white when you grind them :) Thanks for watching!

I'm so, so ridiculously excited to try this recipe! How long do you suppose this might last in the fridge? With the uncooked tofu in it, I'd imagine no more than a week or so, right?

I tried many times to do that! The real problem is one of flavour, as liquid sweeteners are rarely JUST sweetness and they always carry some specific flavour with them. :)
