@@benjohnsoncreative me too! I’m staying with family and had no room for my larger, godox sl60 setup, so this light is saving me. If you’re looking for something to make a video about, I would love your thoughts on setting up a makeshift studio when you’re away from home!
After watching 3 videos you definitely sold me. Thank you for the content 💯

Wow, I’m very impressed with your channels quality, you’ve outdone yourself sir. 👊🔥
I appreciate that!
Thanks so much Ben, I am a handicap senior that needs something like this for my videos.
thanks ben. I have somewhat similar. stand and soft box and everything. Just a standard on and off switch. Maybe I will try to find just the bulb which is controllable. Good stuff again and always inspiring. My lighting game has improve from your video. God bless and love always from Malaysia
Awesome glad the videos are helping! And yes you should look, upgrading to a color temp bulb with remote would be a nice step up!
hi ben. happy to report and share here also to your viewers. i manage to get the same bulb with remote here in Malaysia. it cost usd 12. so happy that i learn a lot from your many videos such as these. being able to control it now gives me such flexibility on a budget coz im just starting out. 3 of your videos have gave me profound understanding shooting on smartphone (again just starting out), your lighting setup and this video that i am commenting on. your free setup guide is also great. thank you so much. i have like and shared all your videos. the least that i can do. ben, i have also invested on final cut. if you can do a tutorial on final cut on color grading and audio voice. it will mean a lot. happy to set aside my lunch money to buy your preset if you are selling. do make it affordable if you can. 🙏🏻 cheers and god bless.
I got so much respect for dudes opinions that I paused the video after 2 minutes and ordered it- no further explanation needed💯
Haha that’s awesome Jeo! 🙏🏻

Your content is amazing! very informative and high quality :D.
Thanks Tamir!!
@@benjohnsoncreative hey Ben, forgot to ask but do you recommend this for a corner office setup?
@@tamirahmed7540 yes I use it in my corner :)
I'm convinced to buy this light. Lighting changes everything, but for someone like me who has a low budget and not experienced with the bigger brands, this looks like the perfect fit!
You’ll love it!
I love your videos thank you for this content
Thanks for watching Kirin! Glad you’re enjoying the content! 🙏🏻
Very useful video , I learned lot from it, looking forward more videos like this keep it up good work, R.manohar , india, chennai

Thanks!
I just bought this light a week ago and I look forward to getting a second one
It is the jam!
Thanks B... purchased!!!
Awesome hope it works well for you!
Excellent review Ben! Feel free to let me know if you've done any comparisons with this Mountdog softbox vs the Neewer softbox, or if you have any info or opinions between those options!
I did compare it to this godox light: ua-cam.com/video/ngFHWWkkUx8/v-deo.html
Thank you Ben !
Glad you enjoyed it!
Another great video!
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing this. Remote control is super helpful for 1 person crew.
For sure! Thanks for watching!
This was actually really good!
Thanks Andrew!
I just picked up this exact light about 3 weeks ago. I love it.
Awesome Jack! It is pretty dope!
@@benjohnsoncreative yeah. It's perfect for me. I'm just starting out from my "bedroom studio". I was using a flood light on top of a tripod with a t shirt to diffuse it. Lol. So this was quite an upgrade. Keep pumping out these bangers man. I love them. 👍
Ah yes I remember those days. Something fun about the innovation of the diy gear, but, something SO nice about having better equipment and the right tool for the job!
What type of videos would you like to see this year?
@@benjohnsoncreative hmmm. Since you cover all types of gear, maybe some where you compare like an expensive mic or camera, a budget one, and a decent cheap one all side by side. But dont reveal which one is which till the end. Another idea, since you're starting to get quite the following on here. Have subscribers send it pictures or short clips of their home studios, maybe pick some of the more unique ones, and sort of tell us how you would not necessarily redo it, but tweak it a little or change angles to make it better. Idk, just some ideas I have. But i dont have and audience built yet to do those.
Thank you ❤ very helpful 😊
Glad it was helpful!
Always giving us value
Thanks Audu! Trying haha! Appreciate your feedback and encouragement! 🙏🏻
@@benjohnsoncreative checked it out and I can actually buy two for less than 70
I'm based in the UK and I've just ordered mine - Super excited for it to arrive!
I also love the pink lighting in this video... Is it coming solely from the LED light bulb listed in your description in the "Smart Lights" link? I really want to experiment with coloured lighting in my videos 💡
Whoops, never mind! I just found your "One Backdrop, Unlimited Colours" video 🙌🏾
Awesome I was about to send that to you! Thanks for watching! 🤘🏻
Hey Ben, I always appreciate your content-I usually learn something meaningful. I’m curious about the hair light and stand you’re using in this video….I could use a setup like that, especially if it’s not overly expensive. It looks like a flat version of a tube light. Thanks…keep the content coming. Peace.
In this video I used the Yongnuo YN360 but I now use and love Godox TL30 (amzn.to/3ZWRgNU). Just saw it's on sale today!
@@benjohnsoncreative Thanks Ben.
Thanks ben
Thanks for watching Ranj!
Purchased using your link!
Amazing! Thanks for the support!
Another great video
Thanks Ron!
Great video, thanks, Ben! Would you recommend soft box over a LED panel light? I ask because the LED panel takes up a bit less space. I have an 11' x 10' room, but I'm thinking I could make these soft box lights work if they don't crowd. Thanks again!
Thank you ! Very usefull !
Thanks for watching!
Great video! I have one coming for drum covers in my attic room. Any tips on where to place it? Keep up the work
I have lots of tutorials on the channel for dinner lighting styles. Positioning changes depending on the style you want!
I do have a lighting course if you want to learn even more : www.learnvideolighting.com
Thank you for the video. Two questions:
1. Do they have fans? Have you noticed any kind or noise related to that?
2. On your camera, with these lights, have you noticed any flickering? Especially when you dim these lights?
Nope neither!
Ben Johnson appreciate the feedback, keep up the good work!
Excellent
Thank you so much 😀
Great content. New sub!
Welcome to the creative crew Izzy! Thanks for watching!
Hello Ben, thank you very much for your videos.
I'm thinking of buying 2 of them (one for the key light and one for the fill light), will they be enough for mukbangs videos to lighten up my body and table where the food is placed at the same time?
I also have a closet in the background, and I've learned from your previous videos that I should add background lights, I'm thinking of placing a led that changes color inside the closet, do you think it's the right choice?
Thank you for your time
I was gonna get a Godox 100w, but I think I’ll get this and then upgrade to the aperture 120 after a while
It’s a great light for sure!
Thankyou dude👍👍👍👍
Thanks for watching Anil!
In Malaysia, it costs around 19$ only! Nice work Ben.
Amazing!
Thank you
Thanks for watching!
Super helpful video. Would you still recommend an additional fill and rem light with this set up? What have you been using as addional light in this video?
And could one of the viltrox lights be used as a rem light in this set up?
And also want to add that I‘ve been watching your videos for the last few hours and have already learned so much from them. Keep up your good work :)
Thanks for watching Lena yes I would recommend at Least a rim light and one of the viltrox could work for it, I typically have been using one of the yn360 lights as seen in this video here: ua-cam.com/video/wibnuzuwzi8/v-deo.html
If angled properly you can get away with just the key light, but the fill can be nice to have as an option
Amazing
Thanks Barfi!
Hey Ben great video content! Quick question, what is the name or brand of the long thin light on the opposite side of the one you are presenting? Is it an RGB light wand stick?
Here you go: amzn.to/3HCp5K4
Thanks for watching!
Seeing this literally a day after ordering the Viltrox setup used in your other video..... 🙄🙃 Love your videos btw
The viltrox set up is still great :)
If you are ready to pay $50. You cancel the Viltrox and buy this one
@@FeelFreetoEdit yeah I’d buy this one
Perfect thanks
Thanks for watching!
Hey Ben - appreciate the video! I’m looking to upgrade from a ring light, and I notice that you use those round LED lights in a lot your videos. For a key light, do you recommend those round lights, or is a soft box the way to go?
Softbox will prob be the way to go, as it’s a little more flattering and cheaper
The round lights are dope, and they are nice, better than a ring light in my opinion.
I still use my round lights on client shoots because they are strong, portable, and versatile to set up and position
But the softbox Is cheaper and is a little simpler to get a flattering look
@@benjohnsoncreative thanks so much for your reply! I see it as an investment (and I’ve used my ring light for the past 3 years), so I’m not as concerned about the price. What’s the main difference in the results you get from the soft box vs. the round light?
Great video
Thank you!
@@benjohnsoncreative you’re most welcome and I just ordered 2 for my garage studio
Hey Ben, loving the channel. What would be your suggestion or preference between this and the Viltrox key like option you mention in you under $100 budget video?
I’d recommend this :)
@@benjohnsoncreative what are you using as your overhead fill light? Maybe I missed that in another video. I’m also looking what would be a decent way to setup lighting for an overhead shot of board games. For playthroughs and how to videos.
Thanks, this was exactly my question too!
Hey great tutorial been! Quick question for you what is your focal length on your lens when you do these type of shots also how far back are you standing from the camera
A lot of time I use a very wide lens, and am close to camera: ua-cam.com/video/TBcMoR0laxk/v-deo.html
I just received mine yesterday. I bought a 2x set on Amazon for 56 euro (around 60$). The only thing that I'm worried about is the screws that tighten the stand. They look very cheap and not built to last. The good thing is that it looks like it could be repaired.
I left the bulbs in the boxes and put them in a bag. I'll need something better to protect it. For the price (30$ a piece) is fantastic. Other than my fatastic Neewer on camera RGB light and a cheap 10 inch RGB selfie ring, these are my first real video lights. Let's hope for the best.
The screws could definitely be better quality but for the price, I can't complain much!
Keep going Beny

@@benjohnsoncreative i would love to be a good UA-camr like you, you work so clean
Great review and a great price for what you showed us. #StayCreative
Thank you!! And ayyyee! You got the motto! #staycreative
Good content
Thanks!
Hey Ben!
I'm new to your channel but I've already been well educated by your content! I just want to know if I could use the MountDog on paintings?
You could use it to light a painting for a video
Sold!
Awesome! Should work well for you!
This video is so helpful! You posted this awhile back, do you still recommend them?
Yes! I still use this light for some videos - works great!
It is tremendously beneficial to have a dedicated remote.
Indeed!
Hello Ben
I have a question, where can I find that light that's between you and the backdrop?.. can you recommend me one not too expensive 😏... I'm just starting with a small studio and you know.. just trynna work with what I got, Thank you!!
Is there a way to diffuse the light more with this? Make the light softer for an older person?
This is awesome. How does this compare to the GVM lantern soft box?
The lantern will be better for lighting up a room, this is better for lighting up just you
Hey Ben, do you have a link for your hair light? I really love the setup!
In this video I used the YONGNUO YN360 but I now use and recommend godox tube lights. The TL 60 is a great size for hair lights: amzn.to/3l5KgPm
I’m so confused on what to buy now lol. I want a full lighting setup for UA-cam videos at home. I saw your older videos and now I see this. I’ll buy this light and what else should I get? I saw you say key light/fill light, and rim light. I’m going to get a color led lamp that I can control with my phone too.
Appreciate the help and your videos are awesome!
I would recommend this light as your key light! I think that your plan sounds solid!
@@benjohnsoncreative Awesome Ben, thank you! So, this light, one viltrox light, and one raleno light + the led lamp. Does that sound decent?
@@DavidTully775 Yes that sounds like a good option!
@@benjohnsoncreative I appreciate your help! Thank you :).
Question since this light is leds it wont die correct? Like normal bulbs for cheap lighting kits
Great channel yo support this channel
Thanks Rab!!
Great video, do you think 2 of these (key & fill) along with g2 pocket rgb (to get different color backdrops) would be a good budget set up for a small indoor space?
You could probably even get away with one of these if positioned well, but yes, I think that set up would work great
@@benjohnsoncreative thanks for the fast reply...I actually went with two of The Raleno LED Lights but if they don’t do me justice I’ll return and grab these
Nice bro.......
Thanks Dannen!
You've saved me. 😁
glad to help!
Hi Ben, you da man! Great teacher, and your theme tune is stuck in my head. Subscribed! Can you tell us the distance between you and the background gray paper here, and the distance between you and the key light? Been trying this and that, for a while.... Having issues in a 12 x 12 ft room, with key light washing out the background RGB light.
I've got a few videos that may help with that
Lighting in small rooms: ua-cam.com/video/Lm7dhM7kmh4/v-deo.html
Lighting colored background: ua-cam.com/video/XjexTWJ_D24/v-deo.html
Lighting Positioning: ua-cam.com/video/roe4w5DYok8/v-deo.html
Thank you!
What do you think about the Elgato key or air light with a rim light for gaming setups to get that look
I haven't used either but I'm sure they would work if you use the right technique
Most aesthetic videos. Nice man .. !
Thanks so much! 👍🏻
@@benjohnsoncreative what camera are you using to film this ? Dont tell me its a sony zv1 😂
Great content! Unfortunately that $50 is 3x the price in Canada! But thank you for putting out great stuff.
Still best value option I would guess, as other lights would be more as well, thanks for watching!
Nice video. And it's exactly what I need but I'm in the UK and I looked on amazon and it comes with a US plug and not a UK plug. So I would not be getting this product. Still good video!👍
Hmmm, could be a good accent or fill light even. Crazy you get all of that stuff for so cheap even if it is terrible quality, Im just impressed.
It’s not terrible quality
