As a Taiwanese, it’s a great surprise and honor to see KUO’s name on the board. Totally did not expect that single marvelous season being mentioned. Ryan is truly the best player in draft videos.
Ryan’s modern knowledge with Lucas’ computer brain is such a lethal combination. Those 2 need their own podcast of them just talking about random player’s seasons and just seeing what kinds of rabbit holes they go down😂
Love the Hong-Chih Kuo pick. In 2007 he had one of the most satisfying bat flips I've ever seen after hitting the third of back-to-back-to-back homers in LA with Vin Scully on the call. It's worth a UA-cam search for the clip--that's my lasting memory of Kuo, and he was indeed a very good pitcher.
They should have D'Aversa do his own blind draft before they film these, so we can see how well he would have done compared to the 'Best Possible Roster'
When Ryan said “it’s not who you think” for his Padres reliever I was really thinking Aki Otsuka?? 😆 I would’ve got the year wrong though. He had 77.1 IP with a 1.75 in 04
Yeah, Gagne CY and Kershaw MVP seemed like the most obvious to me, and while I knew 2025 Greinke I forgot just how ridiculous the ERA was. So many Dodgers pitchers to choose from.
As a baseball fan who has lived in Taiwan the past 22 years, the Kuo pick was nice to see. I was thinking about him. He was so good from 2008-2010, but persistent elbow injuries basically ended his career in 2011. Unfortunate end for a guy with a ton of potential.
Played against Brandon Webb in high school and the hype surrounding him was surreal. Only pitched for 2 innings and I didn’t face him because he came in at end of game in a blowout and face last half of the order. However, the hype was deserved and threw straight GAS even in high . Met him couple years later on and he was a kind and modest guy. Signed autographs for EVERYONE before he left and showed absolute patience while doing so.
You guys should do teams single season win total in specific years. Each guy picks 10 teams. Ex. 2018 Red Sox, 09 yanks, 01 mariners. Most wins in total wins.
would love to see them do this series with more unsung/1 year wonder guys. idk if you can throw a WAR or number of all star appearances limit on the picks, but id love to see their random pulls
Something that might be more quantifiable than Lucas's "metric" would be using total earned runs and forcing the players with the least innings pitched to make up the innings difference with the league average ERA. Rough calculations on league average ERA from 2000-2024 is 4.56. Jolly's lineup pitched 1285 innings with 370 total earned runs. Ryan's lineup pitched 1262.1 innings with 357 total earned runs. He would have to make up the missing 22.2 innings with the league average ERA of 4.56, which would be an additional 11.5 runs. Making his total 368.5 total runs. He still wins by the narrowest of margins (1.5 runs), but it's at least clearer where the difference comes from. (Dalton still finishes dead last, needing to make up an additional 50.1 innings to match Jolly's team's innings pitched. This would mean he would add 25.5 runs to his line-up's 374 earned runs for a total of 399.5)
My formula gave it to Jolly. I think we are doing something similar. Not sure where I went wrong. Total Innings Pitched -> % of innings for each pitcher -> Calculated Weighted Avg ERA -> Divide Wtd Avg ERA by Total Innings. I multiplied my result by 1000 so there wouldn't be a ton of decimals. I got Jolly at 2.0168 and Ryan at 2.0175. Trying at home - remember that the decimal in innings pitched is misleading (.1 IP = 1/3 Inning, .2 IP = 2/3 Inning)
Haven’t finished the video but innings “qualification” in my opinion should be at least 1000 IP - 810 IP for starters (162 IP x 5 guys) to allow for some crazy low ERA seasons (i.e 2021 DeGrom) and then they have to make up those innings elsewhere. Bullpen should be ~200 IP (67 IP x 3)
So what exactly is the metric being used for these? Shouldn't it just be runs / inning pitched for the cumulative ERA? Doesn't matter all that much, I will always click on a draft video regardless. Ryan's the GOAT
What is the ERA to Innings equation? It should just be as simple as low ERA plus lots of innings. There has to be bonus tiers for getting 200, 220, 235, 250 innings.
Lucas cam? Oh dear, this is going down in history.
I’ve been wanting that view since the homer drafts!!
The Lucas Look cam is great! His facial expressions always gets called out by the guys. So I'm glad we get to take part. Keep it going!
We need Lucas cam every episode
The Lucas cam is electric, give me more!
Ryan has skyrocketed up my “favorite JM personalities” rankings
I get that. Always liked him and Shelfy a lot
Ryan’s the man!
cool, calm, collected and knows ball
LOVE the addition of the D'Aversa Cam. Need more of his reactions!
If JM media sees this get Lucas at the right angle, above and to the left of his face pointing down and father back
Hung-Chih Kuo is probably the best pick in the history of the series.
As a Taiwanese, it’s a great surprise and honor to see KUO’s name on the board. Totally did not expect that single marvelous season being mentioned. Ryan is truly the best player in draft videos.
Ryan Cohen masterclass incoming
“Kuo 10” might be the greatest pull ever
@@Po17ardAdams is up there also
The Lucas Cam is AMAZING
You know what would be better than a Lucas cam? Letting him play.
@@jmg999wouldn't be a competition anymore.
Love the Lucas cam!
He looks like he got locked in a closet or something.....
Every NL West draft leads to Ryan going nuts on the Rockies. And I love it. Go Rocks!
I love how Ryan is stressing out about which Marquez year to pick and little did he know they were both awful lol. Just Rockies things.
2021 he was an all-star and had a 109 ERA+. Coors is just ass for ERA lol. 2018 was the one he should've gone with if he was set on Marquez
@@verde7595I wondered why he was waffling between '21 and '22. 2018 popped into my head immediately as the good Marquez year
@@dfp_01 he had a 3.77 era. Which is good enough for top 10 Rockies seasons.
Good on Ryan for picking 郭泓志! Nice to see a player from Taiwan represented! And it helped Ryan get the win! Excellent!
Lucas cam/Host cam needs to be a main stay with all future drafts!
Yea, really brings the whole thing together!
Lucas Cam, AND that tension at the end!? Best one so far
Ryan is the GOAT. Dude knows ball and has such a likeable personality
Ryan’s modern knowledge with Lucas’ computer brain is such a lethal combination. Those 2 need their own podcast of them just talking about random player’s seasons and just seeing what kinds of rabbit holes they go down😂
Takashi Saito, 2006-2007 - extremely underrated Dodgers closer.
Love Saito so much, had his jersey shirt...wish I still had it
Jolly clearly does not understand that a lot of innings with a worse ERA is a bad thing. Lmao
16:49 losing my mind at Dalton emphatically saying "they won 98 games!"
Lucas cam is a revelation. Who knew how much we needed it? Audio Jack feature and Jake feature? What a draft.
This entire episode is going in my Best of Ryan Cohen highlight reel. Absolute sicko with these stat pulls.
Tremendous video. Humor, tension, jokes, Lucas cam.... just completely rewatchable and fun.
They should have D'Aversa do his own blind draft before they film these, so we can see how well he would have done compared to the 'Best Possible Roster'
I just want to say Ryan spoke on behalf of all other NL west team fans with that Rockies rant
When Ryan said “it’s not who you think” for his Padres reliever I was really thinking Aki Otsuka?? 😆 I would’ve got the year wrong though. He had 77.1 IP with a 1.75 in 04
“Why can’t the padres beat the Rockies!😭” I feel you bro, it’s fucking terrible that we can’t beat one of the worst teams in baseball 😂😭
Honestly it's lose lose because when we win monfort feels validated for when he said we're just as good as the Padres.
Lucas cam is brilliant
Evan Phillips in 2022 had 1.14 ERA in 63 IP. Graterol last year was also pretty good 1.20 ERA in 67.1 IP
Was screaming Eric Gagne for so long
Yeah, Gagne CY and Kershaw MVP seemed like the most obvious to me, and while I knew 2025 Greinke I forgot just how ridiculous the ERA was.
So many Dodgers pitchers to choose from.
Márquez's best non-covid Rockies season was 2018 (3.77 ERA over 196 innings). 2021 was a 4.40 ERA over 180 innings.
As a baseball fan who has lived in Taiwan the past 22 years, the Kuo pick was nice to see. I was thinking about him. He was so good from 2008-2010, but persistent elbow injuries basically ended his career in 2011. Unfortunate end for a guy with a ton of potential.
'03 Guillermo Mota set up gagne with 1.97 ERA over 105 innings. Dodgers pen back then was a beast
Lucas being genuinely happy when they get good answers makes me happy
He ONLY dominates the NL West… c’mon now. He’s dominated every appearance 😂😂
The moment Ryan said Marquez I knew he was cooked there. Had him in a dynasty league and he was a disaster in 2021-23.
But he did well enough to still win - dude knows his baseball
zeeks appearance in the draft comments hell yeah

This is one of, if not, the best episodes
Rockies fan here, lol watching Cohen get mad about them makes me laugh! I like the Padres too! Great vid!
Lucas cam!
The Lucas cam is a GAMECHANGER
Lucas cam needs to stay for sure! Also what a close finish! Love these vids
It’s a good day when there’s a new draft video.
Nice, I love the Lucas cam! The man deserves the shine!
The Lucas cam is absolutely phenomenal. Please keep it.
Ryan...I feel you, man. We just can't get past those DAMNED Rockies! It's total BS lol
Gagne being the 3rd Dodger reliever taking is wild. I was just screaming his name as the relievers were being picked
You guys should do teams single season win total in specific years. Each guy picks 10 teams. Ex. 2018 Red Sox, 09 yanks, 01 mariners. Most wins in total wins.
loving the Lucas Cam!!
Lucas had me on the edge of my seat with that one 🫨😮💨

Jolly looking like a vegas club promoter
Best series ever
Half expected to hear a Luke Gregerson pull from Ryan, but the Mike Adams pull was very nice.
Every NL West draft brings me so much joy because I get both Dalton and Ryan on my screen for a full video
Love these drafts! Have you guys done 1 player per decade drafts?
Wow that Mike Adams pull was legendary. I was so pumped when the Phillies signed him
Finally a Lucas cam! Yay!
Loving the Lucas cam
A) Tim Lincecum absolutely deserved the 2008 Cy Young, Dalton. You're just wrong 😂
B) Jolly picking a risky Padre starter haunts me to this day 🙃
All hail #LucasCam!
Good job on the Lucas Cam.
I was yelling Robb Nen the whole time. Glad he atleast showed up in the ‘best possible rotation’ at the end.
I need someone to find the random insignificant Rockies game where Marquez was left in for an extra inning or two. The butterfly effect is unbeaten
5:51 need the Lucas cam in every video
That Kuo pull is mind blowing
We need a permanent Lucas cam & I speak for everyone in the comments.
A good metric for who wins the ERA drafts would be: total ERA divided by total innings times 100. Lowest score wins.
That one Ryan pull is utterly disgusting, jolly with a super impressive performance
Appreciate the Lucas cam.

Need Lucas’s formula for deciding the winner NOW

“Cla Meredith wasn’t dominant”
Graphic with best possible includes Cla Meredith!!! Jolly, come on man!
Jolly, please conduct all future ad reads in a room that could hold 300,000 people. 10:00.
2013 Rex Brothers was nuts too
Haven’t finished the video but innings “qualification” in my opinion should be at least 1000 IP - 810 IP for starters (162 IP x 5 guys) to allow for some crazy low ERA seasons (i.e 2021 DeGrom) and then they have to make up those innings elsewhere. Bullpen should be ~200 IP (67 IP x 3)
got my money on ryan🎉
Jolly still doesnt understand that you dont want a 3+ era over 200+ innings.
The “metrics” gave it to Ryan so he wouldn’t get angry and break something.
Mixed up Cla Meredith and Mike Adams' ERA but you cant go wrong with either
Kuo in 10... get outta here Ryan!
Love it!
While watching this I kept thinking that Matt Caine was pitching a lot with not that many runs in 2012
WHAT AN ENDING
Me when I see JM Baseball post:

😡 "BUD BLACK!!" hahahah 😂
I really would love to know what Lucas’ metric/formula for scoring these is
YAY LUCAS CAM
If JM media sees this get Lucas at the right angle, above and to the left of his face pointing down and father back
Gold glove draft someday?
I hope Dalton was joking that Webb should have won in 08 because Lincecum and Santana had so much better seasons it’s not even funny.
100% kidding haha!
@@daltonfeely good to hear! He wins by a long shot if wins count for anything
Jeff Francis was the guy I thought after Freeland and Ubaldo. But German was the right move. It was just much earlier.
Byun Hyun Kim and Ryu sighting yes! 🇰🇷🇰🇷🇰🇷
So what exactly is the metric being used for these? Shouldn't it just be runs / inning pitched for the cumulative ERA? Doesn't matter all that much, I will always click on a draft video regardless. Ryan's the GOAT
