there are no words in the dictionary to really, to convey how good he is .he is a won in a trillion talent & we are so blessed just to hear him play, play on guthrie govan you are pure joy
Este señor no toca, sino que habla, se expresa, crea frases, poesías con la guitarra, ha llegado a un nivel donde simplemente la guitarra es otro miembro de su cuerpo.
This guy is a monster! I am tired of hearing people competing on how many notes people can be played in a second. First of all, because Guthrie would win this speed competition as well. And secondly, because phrasing is everything. So, listening to Nick Johnston, Guthrie and Steve Morse, for example, seem to make a lot more sense to me. And FAS, GREAT JOB! Fantastic tone!
I really started to learn this. reeeealy slow and now I can play it maybe at 60% speed and still sloppy at best at fast passages but what struck me really hard is the fact that HE PICKS ALMOST EVERY NOTE at the fast passage at 1:12. For me undoubtedly the best guitar player on this planet. Maybe others, too. I will forever not be not amazed by everything he can do and does when he improvises.
Fun fact: he used his fretting pinky less than 20 times (I counted 15 but I probably missed some). He tends to keep it at the ready but out of the way, and use it as needed. Mine is always sicking straight out like I'm drinking a cup of tea with my left hand. Got to work on that!
foryant23 Actually that's a Django esque inspired chromatic run to navigate the neck and change positions while keeping the same fingering... very useful 😄
Well, yes and no, when people get to a certain level it becomes a matter of taste and personal preference, but i think we can all see that Guthrie is a BETTER guitarist than say....Billy Joe Armstrong
He can hold back if he wanted to, but sometimes he feels a certain way about music and thats what comes out. It would be like having a friend who is really excited about a topic he is an expert in and wants to really talk about it and you telling him to calm down... would be a bit of a shame; you might not like what hes saying but he is defo saying a lot to those who want to listen
Where are these elevators you hanging out in? He's playing over a jazz-fusion light track with both chops and feel. Listen again to _Erotic Cakes_ , nothing on it is elevator music.
It’s a bit annoying that has to crank the tone or use distortion over every chord progression. Doesn’t fit the mood of this chord progression. His playing is all about playing thousand of notes. He never lets the chord progression breath. Give it time to build up a momentum. I can respect him for his technique but there are players out there who live in a way more interesting co existence with the chords and the mood. But that’s a general problem with these technique shredders. Less is more IMO.
You might just not have heard enough of his playing. On the same series of videos, he plays sublime stuff, but it would i think be boring and dishonest of him to play any other way. Thats part of who he is, it might not be for you, but thats his identity as an artist. Less is more can be good at times, but it is also not for everyone, some people love the adventurous nature of players like guthrie who want to explore what else can be done, rather than the opposite
Funny, this is an example of GG _not_ playing thousands of notes. It's relaxed and soulful for him but still full of ideas, which makes it more interesting bar-by-bar then a spread-out solo. You're right about momentum and breathing, everything happens fast even when he's not shredding. He's the master of the three-bar blues 😉.
cindy nobrot I can't bet on vibrato thing but one thing I can count on is with musically not much to remember .. sometimes he need to be like Joe and slash where everything is not about thousand notes per measure but something perfect melody and catchy heart touching solos where every mediocre or general person can get to it... playing music is not always about shred or show how much skills per measure, being musician or artist sometimes need to capture general people.

The most soulful tune ever dedicated to an aquatic animal. Guthrie is the man!

No note is wasted. Fingers perfectly placed on the fretboard and strings. Such amazing feel and dexterity.
you'd probably drain his balls
Guthrie has all the feeling in the world

Guthrie is an organic radio conduit transmitting cosmic waves of delicious aural ecstacy. What a talent.

Le fluyen las notas...y jamás aburre 1 solo segundo, o se vuelve monótono...impresionante.
No pudiste hablar con más exactitud. Es un total maestro
im a guitarist and one day i will be as good as guthrie govan, the big problem is it will take about a million years,
No it will take forever...

Sweet tone, I like it !!!
little thing he does 0:56 to 1:00 is great.
The little things... They way he plays the notes at 0:29 , sliding his fingers in perfect timing up the fretboard..
incredible. cool
I can't stop repeating 0:29
Flying guitar master
A master level player for sure.
I saw 6 amazing runs...tricks and licks ive never seen or even imagined, in this 1.39 of the wizard that is Guthrie Govan :)
Another one for the long long list of GG Amazingness
That guitar inspires him. He should have one of his own.
Love to hear Guthrie doing this on a Yamaha SG 20000. Santana settings.

.............Guthrie is the new Larry Carlton & he's just getting started!!!
Wow. Amazing feel and tone. Would like to know about the guitar too. 335? Year?
It should be illegal to shred this hard off the top of his head 🤯
Fun fact: he used his fretting pinky less than 20 times (I counted 15 but I probably missed some). He tends to keep it at the ready but out of the way, and use it as needed. Mine is always sicking straight out like I'm drinking a cup of tea with my left hand. Got to work on that!
Unbelievable
I know nothing about Guitars, amps, Picks, etc. Just that G.G. is a badass and there is nothing that he plays that does not sound fantastic.
0:13 0:23 0:33 0:43
Guthrie and Matteo are my 2 fav.
what effect pedal can imitate this tone?
Awsome feeling and no need to do a performance only with technic...even if Guthrie is a fabulous technician !...Fabulous.
Off the dials good 🎛
no way!
:45 and on. The phrasing
wht pedals is he use?
He is the best guitarist in the world
Best living electric guitarist. I think Jeff Beck and Allan Holdsworth (RIP😢) were in some aspects GG's equals.
Bad Ass
i don't know what to feel.....
This guy is ridiculous, my god
0:29 sounds a little like Robben Ford
335 ..........WOW ...........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FRACTAL!!!!!!
Extended release 1:42

Debes de chekar este guitarrista destacado Flais 👌

Did someone found the chords?
Eva Eva
Dm--Gm-Am (x4)
Eb9-Dm (x3)
Gm--Am--Dm
who knows the model of this guitar ?
Looks like a Gibson ES 340
Is that a 339 or 335?
Yes.
nagyon meglepném díszes társaságomat,ha egyszerre így tudnék gitározni.. Nem lenne több munkám,csak több ellenségem.. :-)
0.29 wtf
+foryant23 just a chromatic run(played beastly.) learn them it will please you and others who listen.
foryant23 Actually that's a Django esque inspired chromatic run to navigate the neck and change positions while keeping the same fingering... very useful 😄
yeah wtf...
He "spread runned up" the blues pentatonic in a way that gave her even a darker tone...
2000.......sorry!
00:26-00:39 what are you doing man??
uçtum
OMG 0:29
one finger style
Scales just slow him down
My guitar don't do that.
John Petrucci, eat your heart out.
there is No Best guitarist
only Most Favourites...
b8
Well, yes and no, when people get to a certain level it becomes a matter of taste and personal preference, but i think we can all see that Guthrie is a BETTER guitarist than say....Billy Joe Armstrong
trust me jp is nowhere near of 5% of gg level...and look at my username......
What about Billie Joe Spears?
One day with a bit of luck, he'll discover how powerful rest notes are...
Cool. Then he can try to sound like everyone else as a pose to having his own musical ideas and sounds. Thx.
Do you hear how much “rest” is in each one of his notes?! 😭
He can hold back if he wanted to, but sometimes he feels a certain way about music and thats what comes out. Total recall guitar freak...
0:46 how to play the wrong notes correctly. I mean... just fuck yeah man
I don't know why this guy always wants to make his music sound like you're in an elevator when he has so much crazy ability?
Where are these elevators you hanging out in? He's playing over a jazz-fusion light track with both chops and feel. Listen again to _Erotic Cakes_ , nothing on it is elevator music.
I don't like this tone for this song. I like his Suhr and Charvel tone though, especially his new flame maple Charvel.

you can not improve on this how long ago was he playing this as his hair is white now in 2022 Guthrie is God not clapton .
Not as tasty as Carlton, Baxter or Randall, but definitely in the same room...
Maybe, but more and different ideas and more technique. This reminds me of Jay Graydon's solo on Manhattan Transfer's "Twilight Zone / Twilight Tone."
All technique ...not really memorable musically ...and his vibrato isn't very good ...
hahahhaha very funny, good troll
