Filmed & edited by Jason McNamara: www.jasonmcnamara.net is my website with more of my work. This is by far the clearest upload to UA-cam as it is from my master files. I am the one who made this video for The Aristocrats, not Lotfi Boualit who posted it as well. So, if you enjoy my work please know I am available as a freelancer.
The Aristocrats, Furtive Jack filmed at Club Citta in Kawasaki, Tokyo. I used 20 GoPros for this shoot. Here is a behind the scenes video of my camera set up: • The Aristocrats - "Cul...
The band is Guthrie Govan (Guitar), Bryan Beller (Bass) & Marc Minnemann (Drums).
DVD or Digital copy can be purchased here: thearistocrats.spinshop.com/
You watch Guthrie for just a few minutes and you slowly but ultimately realize that this is what it sounds like when a musician has completely & utterly transcended any/all of his early influences. It's simply impossible to extrapolate backwards to what had been any earlier inspiration in the realm of guitar playing that Guthrie might have been moved by on the road to his current brilliance.
I remember buying Guitar Techniques Magazine every month, solely for his lessons (that came with a CD and backing track and his solo over the track), way back in 1996. I still have every month from 1996 to 2003. He was playing at this level even back then, almost 30 years ago. Guthrie is about two years older than I am, so he was playing at this level at least in his early 20's, and obviously before then since I didn't know about him until 1996. I agree with you, he just had an exponential growth at an early age, which is rarely seen. He directly spawned so much of what we see today on the internet, which I knew was going to happen once you could find all off the materials easily on the internet in about 2005.
@@TheOriginalArchiehe wrote Waves when he was only 19!
IMO , the only other guitar player to have done that is none other that the mighty holdsworth , and he's a huge inspiration to guthrie .
@@ayoubramdoune Fully agree! And the point I touched upon in my original comment (the mystery of the influences) is even more valid in Holdsworth's case when you remember him admitting in one of his interviews that as a young lad he never really wanted to be a guitar player - he wanted to play a horn! And so, when you develop your melodic sense and phrasing on guitar by listening to e.g. Charlie Parker and Lee Konitz, the "influence trail" gets pretty murky if someone tried to chart it through the great guitar players of previous eras. With Holdsworth it was even more poignant when you listen (they're hard to find) to a few examples of what he'd do on the SynthAxe with the breath controller: he did sound like a horn player from the fourth dimension!!
@@derekbascombe7731 absolutly agree , you could hear a few blues guitar nuggets here and there especially his early work with soft machine , but once he got his own band , it kinda disappeared , he became more like the influence to other greats after him ( EVH , steve vai , guthrie , gambale , Mclaughlin to name a few .. ) .the only influence i cankinda hear in his playing is coltrane or at least his approach to improvisation ( maybe due to the fact that they studied the same book : Thesaurus of scales and melodic pattterns )
I'm a guitarist, but Marco's drumming so often leaves me speechless. I can hardly believe the combination of feel and precision. Wow....
And he is very close as good on guitar as he play drums!
Marco's guitar playing leaves me speechless. HIs drumming is phenomenal, but when I heard him play guitar he blew me away.
Same here, I love him. Loved his work with Steven Wilson as well (and Guthrie)
Beyond the fantastic ability in the instrument comes also his phenomenal sound . Absolute master of dynamics could perform easily from jazz to death metal
Minnemann is an absolute genius.
This is not a music show. This is a magic show..
There just isn't words to describe Guthrie Govan's guitar playing ability. Probably the best player alive. His versatility isn't human
You are correct.
Versatility and ability wise Steve Morse is on par, but even being a huge Morse fan I think Guthrie plays with more feel. Ridiculously gifted
@@88omair Many top players (e.g. John Patrucci) can play various styles with some control and taste, but Guthrie can shred (and play musically!) myriad styles. He can even play jazz pretty well, though that is likely is weak spot as mastering jazz takes a lot of work--still he's likely better at it than many. Sure, his shredding is top notch, but it's his feel and taste that often get overlooked and put him at the top. If he wanted to just play tasty stuff and not all of the cerebral shred stuff, as cool as it is, he could be playing with or for anyone. He could be lead guitar in any top act and contribute.
@@sivadyert Blah blah blah blah blah blah

Marco Minneman is absolutely unbelievable here, those fills are insane.
I feel grateful to have witnessed these three live
This is the best thing I've ever seen.
Guthrie Govan is like a Wikipedia or grand library of guitar, SOOO MANY information from his playing, so rich of content.
Mind boggling how these three geniuses made the song sound 100x better than the album version. Just flawless. Also props to the director, this is the very best recording and editing of any performance I have ever seen.
Hi Exodus 820. I am the one who filmed & edited this video so your comment has come directly to the person it was intended for. Thank you very much. If you would like to see more of my work, my other UA-cam Channel is the one I use the most. Just look for: JasonVideoMusicTokyo
Cheers!
That's awesome. Watching it feels more wholesome, colorful and dynamic than going to live shows myself. Guthrie said in one of his interviews that the Aristocrats is more about the interaction between the three musicians instead of technical displays of three individuals. I think your editing highlights that exact kind of interaction very well.
It’s like watching a bunch of geniuses working together, but simultaneously trying to out do one another. Brilliant!
I love this. I don’t know if I’m listening to a quirky Tom & Jerry tune, jazz fusion, or progressive metal.
you see Marco's drumming and you smile .... just like that
When are you doing a collab with Guthrie Govan @CharlesBerthoud? That would literally be the ultimate. 😮
This band is way to stacked, all three members are flawless.
Love it!
Saw the Aristocrats in London. Will never forget it.
OMG, so awesome to see and hear this in such high res!
Nice video editing, thanks.

No words, i am very very pleased, guthrie is one of the best
Masters!!
From my home town of Chelmsford comes Guthrie Govan or so I believe 🙄 what a player and the other two are pretty amazing too.
Sooooo sick
Incredibile. Awesome
Monstrueux musiciens. ..de la fusion parfaite! Du bonheur 😉
If there was any Musical language that I would want to learn.,,, This would be the one !!!!! This is over the Top and Awesome !!!!!!! ~ Cheers ~
Makes me smile when I listen too Marco and the boys, how humble they all are, and contrast that with that bag of wind Ginger Baker, and what he thinks of himself.
Take the best guitarist, drummer, and bass player in the world and put them together and you have The Aristocrats.
They have definitely surpassed Rush in that sense
Can’t believe an 8 minutes track seemed so short!
first time i hear them.. pretty good..
That communication. 🔥🔥🔥
From the other planet band. Amazing ❗
Dat framerate. Fantastic editing by the way

nice that we all finally agree on the GOAT
Your favorite guitar players favorite guitar player
Wow🎼👌
I would love to hear these guys with Dirty Loops....
Govan shreds as as well as the best ever yet has an organic feel to his playing I have not heard from other shredders.
It's like he's playing with a sense of humor. Like he's not taking it seriously. He plays with joy. Idk how to put it lol
@@billsny9243 i got to see him with the aristocrats in raleigh summer '22. awesome show. small venue with perfect acoustics.
Guthrie Govan takes Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jeff Beck in a vat of homogeneous glory. Yet, Guthrie is in a class of his own.
If I heard this in an elevator I’d probably just end up riding up and down the entire song just mind blown
Jaw dropping precision and imagination..so many changes and odd little grooves..FZ would have enjoyed this,Guthrie, next level ability.
demasiado bueno
Any players on stage with Guthrie gotta be great that's talent plus
My personal opinion, if we ever make alien contact, I think sending them this video to explain what music is should be a prequisite. Just saying
Man, amazing is the less I can say about this one, just one question, where can I get the full concert? I clicked the link in the description but it's actually broken, do you have any solution for that?
Keep up the good work on the film and edits my dude
No
Wooow!!!
Marco is the best lazy drummer I've ever heard
Suonano divinamente zzio porko ❤️❤️❤️
@ 感谢欣赏!
Just Smokin' Music..>!!!!!!!
The other two are good, but GG is just on another level.
It'd be really interesting to see the split of what Aristocrat fans pay attention to the most - Guitar/Bass/Drums.
As a guitarist, I have to answer ALL THREE!
I saw them live recently, as a guitarist first, and couldn't stop watching Marco.
There's nothing about this that isn't absolute excellence.
Aww man
His hair is giving him more power. Its transmitting electrical signals from the cosmos to his brain.
What absolute twaddle.....
@@maxcuthbert100 don't get uptight with me, man. Because if you do, I'll have to give you a dose of medicine. 💊👌

Always add the date (or just year will do) of recording into the title or description. Thank you.
I love how they just mess around for the first 2 minutes before launching into the actual tune. You can tell everyone is having lots of fun.
The dynamic and articulation Guthrie puts into his playing is GOD level.
!56,987 ONLY! Where is Justice! At least from now on 156,988. I wish I could do more! I will try- of course- my friends! There you go! OUTSTANDING!!! I salute you guys! Regards, Thomas ( Poland then- Chicago now). Hans Zimmer is very proud of Mr. Guthrie! I would!
What stunning talent. And those ringing chords around the 6:30 mark reminded me ever so slightly of the beginning of Luminol. It's probably just me though. Anyway, I think Frank Zappa would love this music, and I do too.
A bunch of beasts! A lesson in virtuosity everyone on youtube should witness.
A GoPro in his fucking guitar! Loving it. Never had this when I was young. :-(
And that was the first song of the gig. Oh. My. Lawd....
Never seen a band be announced before show
the only band that performs better on live than studio
Them and Phish
Calling them a band would be an insult. They are a phenomenon. None of it's kind! PERIOD
03/04/22 I discovered this.
