If you don't care about your children weight that is horrible parenting as well. Health is very important and it is good to teach them the value of it in early age.
I think it had less to do with her daughters weight. It had more to do with the fact that Deb was always concerned with how she looked to other people. If her daughters pediatrician intervened on his own daughters weight, and she's two sizes smaller than Bernice, that makes Deb look like a bad mother. Like she doesn't care what happens to her kids or how they look or if they're healthy. Can't have that. Gotta be perfect.

She said i had beautiful legs😮 When puberty hit i did get taller and with no extra weight gained my body changed and i was finally comfortable 😊
That's true, some people even out when they grow taller. However, some don't. It's bad when parents starve their kids of nutrients they need to grow, but it's also bad to indulge your kids and give them heart disease / diabetes before they hit middle age. You must keep a reasonable weight all the time and not just rely on genetics to solve the issue. Your neighbor was kind, as we all should be to children, but psychological boosts are not a good hand to play against possibly clogged arteries.
I would take it one step further and say that you are just as beautiful if your weight doesn't even out and your body doesn't need to change, other people need to change the way they see you

And again… if shaming worked we would all be skinny and perfect 😒
Emotional eating should certainly be discouraged, but with care and compassion. Not by doing toxic shit that makes said person feel like they are worth less, that just makes the problem worse. (As many obesity specialists have stated, just look it up)
Your heart is probably in the right place but damn… with your mentality on the subject you’d risk giving the poor kid an eating disorder on the other side of the spectrum…
You might wanna consider looking these things up, or at the very least have some experience on the topic before you pull opinions out of your ass ✌🏻

Have you ever listened to an obesity specialist? Do you have any experience with being overweight at all?
The weight gain epidemic is a reaction to our changed diet and lesser movement. Not the body positivity movement. That’s just nonsense.
Literally watch any documentary on the subject. None of them blames the movement, and nobody overweight would honestly use that as their cause of weight gain, that’s just silly.
Besides it’s not like shaming has actually disappeared from society, it is still running rampant as it always has. It’s the whole reason the movement even became a thing. And guess what? It’s still just as ineffective now as it always has been.
Shaming comes in all shapes and sizes. One doesn’t need to say “you look gross" to shame someone. Buying them purposely smaller clothes works just as effectively.
Children and teens are more likely to develop anxiety, depression and off themselves. But who cares as long as they are skinny and fit right? 😒
After all it’s not like mental health can affect physical health right? 😒
Emotional eating, unhealthy habits and so forth should certainly be discouraged, but with compassion and caring. Not with passive aggressive methods, or by trying to force them into doing things your way.
The mother could have simply introduced healthier foods into the house, perhaps initiated family hiking trips, going swimming, whatever fun activities that the kid would enjoy. Not making them feel like trash by buying them smaller clothes.
There is a reason the scene is set up as it is, to showcase how toxic the mom is to the family at that point. And you’re over here agreeing with it….
Nothing fits me because I’m to small a 2 is too big and a 0 is to a little to small help me!!!
Find a beautiful Spanish maid who moonlights as a tailor.

She's not even that fa
You know it's messed up regardless, but I just find it extra wild that Bernice isn't even fat and her mom has the audacity! I can't 😡😡😡
She's a bit chubby, but in Southern California yuppie salad world, chubby is morbidly obese.
