Instead, the actual blatant edit happens at 0:18 when the vocals come in - switching from the july 29th gig to the 27th. And also obviously the drum intro was cut because there is no Heartbreaker in the old album. Less obvious, but a "Hangman!" was also cut just before the Boogie part. When the edits are done cleanly and respecting the bars, I don't mind. Now, the 2007 remix and subsequent remaster really piss me off though...
You Just feel there was a girl Avenue already I went to you in 1979. This song came on my body made some kind of mixed cassette and after about five minutes she looked over my God. I can feel this she says this song is giving me a Boner. Pardon my French we laugh, super hard and leaned back and listen to the rest of the song.
I love this album But, This album is heavily edited in the original 1976 version, and a combination of 3 nights (Dazed and Confused even being two nights combined into one). If you want an album that is one night and is just as (if not even more) energetic than this album. The Who Live At Leeds or Isle Of Wight is the way to go.

Absolutely-I searched through a lot of these. Some with movie footage, some not. They all had problems-film was blurry, sound was muffled, they omitted the middle section, (film does that too.) This one is clearest and best.
AMEN!!! Page's 2007 Remaster ruined one of my favorite all time live albums ever, the 1976 Song Remains the Same album. The biggest screw up on his part was taking out the two best minutes of No Quarter.

The intensity the drive the focus the tightness the perfection. Listen to Jones and Bonzo such a groove behind Jimmy's guitar work. The bass is sublime Plant and Page call back with that fucking theremin. This is so avant-garde and astonishing for 1973 then they bring it back to rock a billy of the 50s Elvis Eddie Cochran and the blues. What four men on this earth was able to accomplish this feat. Only the Led Zeppelin.....
I've been looking for this version for some time--they have edited out the best parts in the remaster. Had this album back in the 1970's and thought this is by far the best version-- Page, Plant, and crew are at the top of their game with this one! Thanks for posting!!!

CD version of the LP version LOL, still prefer this original mix to anything page has done to it since.... I agree Jonesy is sic on this. Proof that Zeppelin wasn't just one person.... and Page says they werent Heavy Metal... its stuff like this that influenced a generation to play heavy hard rock...Heavy Metal.

Yes I don't know why they chopped up the re-releases. There's so much incredible stuff they edited out on a bunch of the songs. They edited just about every song and not for the better. And even removed the part before the song remains the same when Robert says Good Evening !! In between last time we came and this time we managed to get an album out called Houses of the Holy , why they removed all that awesome stuff I don't know. It's completely different, every song is different they even removed parts of Moby Dick that were Bonzo at his best. The original 1976 release is by far superior.
I remember when I got this for my 10th birthday in January, 1986 (a day after my 10th birthday on January 25) and I remember my dad buying me this as I was already on a Zeppelin quest as of July 1985 (seeing them on Live Aid made me a fan) and to my delight the double live album was spaced on two cassettes. Cassette one had Sides 1 and 3 and cassette two had Sides 2 and 4. I was surprised as I saw the movie on MTV a few months earlier and was surprised that Whole Lotta Love was longer on the album as was The Rain Song and Rock and Roll, No Quarter, Dazed and Confused and Moby Dick's solo were partially different on the album compared to the film. I have both the original 1976 remix and the 2007 remix (I enjoy the added tracks and the fact that The Rain Song was not edited on the album unlike the rest of the songs and also Heartbreaker and Dazed and Confused were in full but the edit on Whole Lotta Love was annoying but at least it was not like the Nick Davis remixes of the Genesis catalog nor the Jon Astley remixes of The Who catalog nor the Justin Shirley Smith/Joshua Macree remixes of the live Queen shows which compressed everything).
Started my Frisbee career in summer of 77.. Yakima Wa. I was 14 yrs.. my good friend refurbished a 67 Dodge charger 442 RT.. we blasted that "8 track" of this concert only on Fri nights to start our weekends.. great at parks, friends places, keggars, Grange Hall parties.. and boom boxed at the river sides watching our home town hotties in bikinis.. simply beautiful it was in the late 70's.. frisbee Wizard "Abatar"

The shorter version cuts @the1:33 mark. skips ahead 1:30, amazing how much can be missed in just a minute & a half with the twists & turns of Bonzos magical journey. Every night all these improvisational movements were varied but never exactly the same. There's some funky ones later in the mid to late 70s
I don't why this version wasn't included in the TSRTS remaster. That lovely funk guitar bit Jimmy starts at around the 1:35 mark was chopped out. I really dug that part and the later version feels like its missing something.

Some of the camera angles were so bad the footage couldn't even be used. That's why. The band and Jimmy Page did all they could do with the bits of live footage they were given.

Couldn't agree more!!!!!! All Page needed to do is add the songs that weren't on the original and remaster the whole thing. Instead, he gutted the album and ruined it. Worse sin for me on the album was taking the best 2 minutes of No Quarter out and throwing it in the trash.

I OD'd on this album every day when I was a teenager. That riff at the very where they change keys every measure is mind-numbing.

This version of the live album was released in '76. Recorded in July 1973 though.

@@EllPhillip....because of the amateur cameramen on the stage that ruined so many parts of this performance. That's why it's edited in the movie. Some of the camera angles were so bad the footage couldn't even be used.

The band and Jimmy Page did all they could do with the bits of live footage they were given.
I must have bought this album over 30 times in vinyl, cassette tape, and CD forms. Mr Page has ruined it with remixes to avoid paying royalties to others. Thanks for posting.

Yes, this is the best version taken from the original album. This one has the Crunge part. Not sure why other vids of this song here on UA-cam have deleted that part.
Page deleted it along with other parts of the live album. In my opinion Pagey fuck this re-issue up.

Couldn't agree more!!!!!! All Page needed to do is add the songs that weren't on the original and remaster the whole thing. Instead, he gutted the album and ruined it. Worse sin for me on the album was taking the best 2 minutes of No Quarter out and throwing it in the trash.

Es cierto, quiza queda mejor Whole lotta love, detras d Heartbreaker....mucho mejor, como en el film y en la edicion 4 LP, del 2007, pero en el vinilo original del ' 76, antes del theremin, hay un groove increible, lo mejor, d todo...que falta en la reedicion y en el film.
