I love seeing these houses retro and untouched. I totally understand why you are so protective of the houses you visit. It’s a shame when people ruin them.
Nice house. Thank you for showing it. That sunroom floor is the old pavers that were originally the patio. The original owners changed a few things over the years as would be normal. Oddly it looks like the second owners touched nothing!
The curved ceiling is called cove. My mom would have loved the foyer wallpaper! We had similar in our house, plus the see through drapes were the thing. Olive or avocado green was very popular. Love these retro tours, reminds me of my childhood.
So many cool features in this house, the bathroom, the kitchen, those light switches. Thank you Ethan for another great explore, always excited to see when you have a new upload.
Those 50s houses really had a feel all their own, i believe the sun room/solarium was a add on, especially with the stairway to the cellar, and the step down from the kitchen. the sunburst clocks are in fact collectables now. Bull nose counter in the kitchen, window seat, the bias checkerboard floor. The raised area in the storage may have been an enclosed soil bank, many homes of that period & before had them. the old owners must have really loved it there. Good catch Ethan.
I really liked this house. Wouldn’t need to change much except some carpet and window treatments. Love the fireplace and the bathroom. Wonder if the fridge was red to match the sink. Really cool kitchen. Would love to have the vintage clock in basement and a few of the light fixtures too. My nightmare would be to be stuck in that storage room that has the crawl space. Loved the wallpapers. Enjoyed this exploration. Keep safe and keep making these great videos.
House #1 was updated sometime in the 1970’s Ethan. Those green bathroom fixtures and the green drapes and the green carpeting were all the rage in the ‘70’s. Avocado & Celery green we’re all the rage. My Great Aunt lived @2550 Lake Shore Drive in Chicago & she bought slime green deep pile carpet for the living room. My mom had those light plates. You can still find similar ones at Lowes in the United States. Love the multi-colored tile in the basement. I love all the time & care you take going through these homes Ethan. You do a really GREAT Job documenting these homes. 👍🏻
That was fun. I really liked the kitchen.....it may be an "old style" but I wouldn't change a thing. That bench by the window probably had a table in front of it. Perfect place for breakfast or have a sit-down with a friend over a cup of coffee. Thanks for sharing.
Yep. Ours had a half circle so it didn't block the entry. I would love to have several of the lights. Especially the pulldown white saucer shaped one. I had one of those over my desk in my bedroom and I just loved it.
Great tour Ethan. Again, your respect for these gems is heartwarming. I just about sob when I see those draperies on traverse rods as I am in search of some for the picture window in our '55 ranch house. They are impossible to find! Also .. that clock would go for $100's at an MCM show. Thanks for appreciation and enthusiasm for these gorgeous homes.
This is probably my favorite 50's period home. It is so retro and just remarkable that it's stayed largely in that era. I loved the kitchen and the bathroom, they should be showcased somewhere! Great video! Stay safe and take care! God bless, xxx Kat
Hi Ethan I like this house. The kitchen was really retro with that black and white floor. I love that sunroom, it’s so big and roomy. I like the entry wallpaper. The basement was creepy looking. The only thing I saw wrong with this house is the mold in the basement. It’s a shame that they have to demo this nice house. Looking forward to seeing the house next to this one. Until then stay safe and well.
That was a riot Ethan! It felt like I was back in my childhood home.Loved the kitchen! Our kitchen had blue countertops. Red,white & blue floors. Rounded shelves. Loved that bathroom(same coloring in 1of our bathrooms-the other was blue ) Our home is still lived in, only the 2nd owner. I won’t go on & bore everyone, but it really took me back. What a shame it won’t be saved. I loved it
What a lovely unique gem of a house. I remember seeing the red horse curtains a few places when I was a little girl. Also I remember a couple of our neighbors had the sunburst clock over their living room mantels when I was little. That would be roughly 1965-1975. The kitchen is definitely very cool. Another great find Ethan. Thank you for the tour.
What a gem you found!! You can tell that house was well loved. It's still a beauty! It was a step back in time and I didn't want to come back to now. What a shame it will soon be gone😢 Oh, I almost forgot to say that I am surprised you didn't draw attention tothe old glass door knobs.
Loved this place!!! I love all of the storage places & all of the little architectural features that they had in that era!!! Sooo very sad that it will be torn down to a lost era😰😢😞 Thank you Ethan for sharing this wonderful adventure with us!!! I loved it ❤
I like that house especially the kitchen and the floors are awesome that's my kind of taste. I like the house when the kitchen is huge and the cabinets at my reach like the sink is awesome and a light fixtures how they are red that is awesome the house is. 👍👍👍👍👍
Another awesome find, love these untouched homes of this era and your live for them as well..You have an old soul young man and nothing wrong with that ♥️
Wow what a nice retro home. I especially loved the kitchen , bathroom , laundry room. The Mac computer I bought one in 2003 when it first came out and regret having to give it up in a move. Thank you for sharing I wish someone could recover and reuse some of the features in this house. It's a shame to see reusable things destroyed love the colored bathtub and kitchen sink. ❤❤ and also the lightening fixtures as well.
Love this house!! Thank you Ethan for showing us such an awesome retro home. The kitchen is my favourite, reminds me of the retro diners like Wimpys with the checkerboard flooring and red accessories. I'd love to have that bathroom sink/tub/toilet. The quality of those pieces are incredible!! Really enjoyed this rare style home.
Whoa!!! I watch (and like) all of your videos... I appreciate what you do to bring these to the general public... That being said this house hit me...It is pretty close to exactly the house I grew up in from birth to age 9- Pittsburgh, PA....Hit me like deja vu... I spent several years in Knoxville, TN in a house just like this too... from age 9 to adulthood... Am I in the Matrix? I am just blown away!! thank you sooo much

Love the '50s home, so many cool features. I kept wondering where the laundry room was and you did finally show. Ty for this explore. God bless and safe always.
Love this house. Ok now that kitchen is fantastic. I would change the red sink all red light covers. I would love being in this kitchen. The round seat at windows love it. Also what you do with that put round table there and a couple chairs on other side of table. It would be great. Thank you so much Ethan for seeing that kitchen.
A brilliant find Ethan, the kitchen was amazing. But the bathroom was incredible. I think someone’s been slowly renovating the place and trying to keep it as authentic as possible. All the original fixtures and fittings are priceless. Would have loved to get my hands on so much of the stuff!
I love to watch the Albany houses that you be showing it's one I wouldn't mind seeing review again see if they tow it down on that it's the one with the all the tennis shoes I found in the house and closed they left in the house if you remember the one I'm talking about can you do an update on that one
Hi Ethan :) I liked some parts of that house,I liked the clock that was cool. The fireplace was really nice. The black&white and red kitchen was crazy,I never seen a red sink before lol. That bathroom with the black tile and green trim my grandparents did that in their bathroom but it wasn't pink hahahaha and their sink was old school to.Good cool video tho.See you next time Ethan😎🏎😁I am still trying to recover from covid, hope this goes away soon.Your videos help out alot to🏎😎
What a lovely home for it’s time , the kitchen was totally 80’s , my kitchen had the same floor , I scored a chrome and vinyl dining set and painted the vinyl red on the seats and back ! It was pretty cool ! Pretty cool house !! I pray someone took the clock to preserve 🙏🏻Thanks again Ethan for your work .
Wow the wallpaper is real loud and busy. I love the layout of the house. Oh man, I have so many ideas to update this house . I love the build in bench as well. I am sad that it will be destroyed. Thank you Ethan for sharing the video and as usual a very good find.❤️
Loved this house! A lot reminds me of my grandparents house. All those little touches you don’t see anymore. My apartment building is old so there are glass covers on the lights and one switch plate is polished steel. Oh, and the old school medicine cabinet with a slot in the back for razor blade deposit. Can’t wait to see the other house next door!
Asbestos floors were common back then but lot's of water damage. We have a sub pump and a French drain. I also think the kitchen had been updated due to the counter tops
The entry wallpaper is pure 1970s; the kitchen was more 1980s, when white/black decor was the fad. growing up in a 1950s ranch home, I don't recall ours, or any of our neighbors using wallpaper, that was something our grandparents used to cover up cracks and defects on walls, so boomers, buying their first homes, went the opposite direction, no wallpaper, no two-story homes, modern furniture. That was an awesome original old house 😍 there are so many cool design features and elements! The sunroom was awesome, and really loved the large windows in the living room, and the kitchen was really nice and design was great, but I'll be honest, black tiles are not one of my favorites; there are so many colors and options back then, that I probably would have went with something more colorful. The bathroom fixtures were awesome also, and the laundry room was so very cool, with the wash tub! Nice house Ethan. Bummer it's going to be demolished. Real nice kitchen. Weird basement, wonder if it flooded. Awesome about the subs Ethan. That's amazing. Congrats. Looking forward to seeing the next house. You stay safe out there. Who's your friend?
Very cool house I love the kitchen! Black white and red was very very big in the 80s. The whole house is not original. Some of it was redone in the'80s and some looks like it's redone in the late 90s or early 2000s. I love the basement steps. Each of different color. My sister did that with carpeting up to my nephew's attic bedroom using Remnant carpeting.
The laundry room was very cool in it's day. I loved that wash tub and that shade of yellow. Something about this time capsule made me so happy. Thanks so much!!
Ethan! The swag light in the front living room, the pendant lights in the eat in area of the kitchen and that clock in the basement.... Save those if you can. A very nice piece of history there and very mid century. Even if you need to donate them to a renovation project... Holy moly!
