Yes, most financial institutions stopped using the undiplomatic courier boxes years ago. They should have sent the fifteen million four hundred and ninety thousand United State dollars via iTunes gift cards. ;-)

If it costs that much to send a key, imagine how much sending gift cards abroad would cost. If they want the gift cards, maybe they should send some money to you in advance to cover the shipping.

The only credit I can give these scammers is having the first comprehensible (if ridiculous) explanation for why they can't just deduct the fees.
Scammer: Im sorry sir. I work at the bank but i cant meet with the bank manager, I could ask for the money to send it to you and have the money recouped in afew days since.... well.... just send the money but not through the bank as its totally legal but we dont want the bank to know about it... because thats totally trustworthy... yea...
It was a pretty lame reason. Don't have enough money for stupid key? Wait til the end of the month for check or get loan.
On one hand, didn't send the key to prevent "customs" (the undiolomatic kind) from opening and inspecting said contents of the "box", on the other hand claim it must be opened in the presence of the un diplomatic courier. So-- which is it?

You should ask one of these reverend characters that you are going through a difficult time and are desperately in need of some spiritual guidance from them.
I like to think that because your first email was simply 'OK', the scammer proceeded to believe that was your name/nickname, and thus called you that the entire time.

When it's in intro I imagine a grown man walking up to strangers and aggressively telling them that he is not a small boy. It lifts my mood and makes me laugh way too much every time.
I also enjoy it when Kitboga calls his phone scammers the same thing. It's so satisfying when them asking for gift cards is such a juvenile thing.

Manuel asks scammer if his friend (Merton) can help recieving and using the money.
Merton almost immediatley tries to trick Manuel by telling the scammer "stop speaking to him, he's an idiot".
The remainder of the episode is explained by the title - from "attorney" to another "attorney", then back again (all are his scambaiting accounts)... until the breakdown of the scammer.
Mert going “away” for a while must have something to do with that job in Hatton Garden

No fee is required. Just a surcharge, to prevent fraud.

Suggestion: Annoy the next few scammers by asking repeatedly for discounts on the advance fee. Of course they'd be happy to rob you of $400 if you didn't have $500. But how far and with what ensuing hilarity can this line of scambaiting be pursued?

Is describing a code of conduct as a string of random digits really that outlandish when the scammer also claims that banks are churches, Germany and Belgium aren't part of Europe, and the UN is a delivery service? It seems like they're just throwing out random official sounding names

I love how, even after all this time, these scammers have no clue about the many red flags they send up, alerting many of us that this is a scam. I'm glad that it seems none of them ever learn how to do it better.
I'm afraid that's mostly due to selection bias, as Mr. Shrimp chooses the ones with the most comedic potential. Unfortunately some of them have been paying attention and have made significant improvements, but those ones are not easily baited.

@@jacthing1 the typos are actually by design. They rule out anyone who would be diligent enough to notice the obvious typos, filtering the potential victims to be people who are more likely to fall for the scam

Very impressive that the bank has dealt with 6 customers in Germany and Belgium considering they have only dealt with 5 customers in Europe overall
I had fun stringing along a scam caller who was after my Social Security number, but it only lasted about 15 minutes. This guy’s ability to drag the scammer along is outstanding. Very amusing.
Phone scammers are a lot less patient than E-mail scammers.
I would love to see you telling them that instead of sending them the money for the key, you will just come to Benin and pick it up yourself, since you really needed a holiday anyways.
They really like that "what does it profit a man if you gain the whole world but loose your soul" line, don't they?

The question "how can you fall for a scam" is psychologically explainable, however...
How can the scammer think he has "any" credibility past the point they leave their scripts and answer directly...
They are "supposedly" high social ranking people, but can't write two sentences without errors or capslock.
They have very low nerve tolerance and jump out of their persona, almost begging for the money.
I just can't imagine them feeling like "oh yeah, I got this..."
It's a filtering processes.
The people they're targeting are vulnerable, desperate, technologically illiterate etc. By making their emails obviously shitty, they cause potential marks to self-select, ensuring only those who they could successfully prey on respond to them.
If they were professional looking, many more people would get to the time to send money or details and see the red flags, and end the interaction there. That'd be a waste of time from the scammers perspective as it's not someone they can manipulate into sending them money.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you do to play these despicable scumbag benchodes. I was scammed out of my inheritance when my Dad died in 2018. £20,000. I was not helped by the bank or police who done nothing apart from saying 'You're not the first and you won't be the last!
My family no longer talk to me over it and called me stupid. I have now moved on and watching scambaiting videos cheers me up no end. Sometimes I have tears running down my face through laughing so much. I cannot thank the scambaiting community family enough.

I have to applaud you, your response to this scam is especially brilliant. I don’t want to judge any victim, but this scammer has a very low opinion of his victims if he specifically says don’t send payment by gift card, yes asks anyway. Maybe next time send them photos of the gift cards with the codes still covered. Maybe you can say, “here are the cards, I didn’t even have to pay for them”. Anyway bless you mate.
Edit: if you get this scam again, before they ask for the fee, ask for all the receipts of the $10,000 they have spent. Maybe they’ll screw up and it won’t add up to $10,000. Wait before they ask for the fee, if they ask for a tip like this scammer, ask if you can direct deposit the money into their bank account, maybe you’ll get lucky and they’ll write yes, and then later when they ask for the fee, bring up the direct deposit option. Then we can have some fun reading their excuses.
I believe in this scam, they start off telling the victim not to send money via the various methods to make the victim feel secure & that it's a valid transaction. But they wind a long and meandering story over the course of days or weeks, to where whoever does fall victim forgets that initial statement about not sending money via Gift cards, Western Union etc. By then he believes he must follow the "UN bank protocols" or whatever word salad they come up with that sounds legit, so they can receive the "key" and documents for their consignment box. Scammers are always changing their tactics, apparently even pretending to help formerly scammed victims, or put right in their message "how to avoid" not being scammed - even by them! Yet they are still able to trick people & catch them off guard.

While I love watching your videos and find them hilarious and interesting while conscious, you have a FANTASTIC voice for soothing me to sleep. It reminds me of when I was in school and would fall asleep in class, even if I found the subject interesting.
