    It‘s honestly one of the most rewarding things in being a product tester and content creator to see other well respected testers coming ti the same conclusions. I simply couldn‘t agree more on everything you said about Meguiar‘s Hybrid Paint Coating. It really really is the king if easy to apply coatings in terms of user experience.
    In regards to Sonax CC36, there are three things I wanted to add. First, it‘s durability claim is actually up to 36 months - hence the name. Plus, the gloss coat layer isn‘t actually a „ceramic“ product, it‘s a polymer one. That‘s why, as you said, if you see hydrophobics fail, you really can just reapply that one. Third, and most importantly, CC36 doesn‘t need any cure time after the application of the gloss coat, which means it‘s an almost ideal product for outside application and mobile detailers. I still would recommend giving it a few hours, but it theoretically can get wet right away.
    Considering how much you liked CC36, I‘d recommend you try CC Evo.

    Something you forgot to say about meguiars hybrid paint coating is it doesn't have a shelf like like 99% of the coatings out there which after being used once the coating won't last past a year in the bottle, hybrid paint coating can last 5+ years in the can and it won't go bad so there's a lot of value for someone who is only working on his personal car

    Great review, BUT, can you test self-cleaning properties? Maybe let the panel sit outside for 2-weeks, then hose it down, blow it dry and see which side of the panel looks the cleanest? Self cleaning properties/ Touchless cleaning is the #1 factor I look for in coatings, fewer touches, = less swirls/scratches etc,

    I was really looking forward to your thoughts on the Meguiars hybrid paint coating. So thanks for that! I stocked up on a few bottles on sale for around 30 USD on sale. At least here in the states it’s really hard to beat it’s value even at full price.

    Very interesting to see 3 separate coatings/brands compete side by side.
    Thank you for another EXCELLENT comparison video.
    I’ve been detailing on the side and worked as an automotive technician for about 11 years up until last year. I unfortunately lost my job at a local body shop, which led to an opportunity 3 months later to rent a 55x12ft. warehouse bay with electric, water hook up and floor drainage so I could take my professional detailing & paint correction services full time…
    I decided to take the leap and give it a chance since mobile detailing through winter in Vermont with a small Mitsubishi is not doable. It’s been an incredibly difficult past year with ups and downs, but I’m still learning and growing from my experiences, mistakes and keeping a positive attitude.

Meguairs Hybrid Paint Coating, on the other hand, has a "cheap" price tag of NT$2000 or $95 AUD. (Can Coat is not retailed here and as such, is priceless.)

    Superb, superb review that I have been waiting for a long time! Thank you my friend for the work done! 👍 👍 👍.. I like meguiar's HPC. It is a superb alternative to ceramic coating. Not super expensive for the capacity, the ipa, the applicator and microfibers. This makes it a good 1+ year coating. Because I know two people with meguiar's HPC on their cars, one who drove it daily and without maintaining it to perfection and was up to 1 year and 3 months old, the other drives daily too but with a very upkeep of the coating and has been up to almost 2 years! Meguiar's should thank you because thanks to you I think the sales of meguiar's HPC will be boosted!

    I had never done a coating or anything even remotely like that before. I probably had washed my cars by hand maybe two or three times in my entire life. I used Gyeon CanCoat EVO on my new car a few months ago and it was super easy for a COMPLETE newbie in a limited space with below average lighting. It took my son and I about 2.5 hours to do the entire mid-sized SUV - I reckon we could have gotten it down to 90 minutes if we were a bit more confident and put our foot down, but I'd say to give yourself two hours.
    Our car is red, so it's kind of in the middle in terms of "forgiveness" with respect to poorly applied products which was a risk for us because we had almost no idea what we were doing beyond watching Sandro, Pan, Brian from Apex, and a few others apply coatings countless times. There were a couple of high spots due to the poor lighting and our inexperience and we picked them up about 18 hours later when we took the car out into the sun for an inspection.
    Removing the high spots was pretty easy actually - for the minor one here and there, a quick spritz of Gyeon Prep on a plush microfiber and they buffed out instantly. Not kidding, one or two passes of the cloth was all that was needed. There was one "significant" high spot by the driver's side passenger door handle and we just re-applied some CanCoat EVO to an applicator, went over that entire door again, and buffed it off - it came out perfect.
    One thing that can't be understated with CanCoat EVO is how absolutely ridiculously rich it can make your paint look. Like I said, we had a metallic red paint but after applying CanCoat EVO and letting it cure, the additional colour saturation is magnificent. It's so much deeper and rich of a red. I went back to the dealership a few days later to pick something up and even the sales guy was like, "Man, that paint looks terrific."
    Without turning this into an ad for Gyeon, but if you want to make your CanCoat EVO coated car pop with gloss, every second wash, hit it with Gyeon Ceramic Detailer - legitimately, it's other worldly for gloss on top of the CanCoat.
    That said, the Meguires looks really nice, thanks for the tip, Sandro!

    • @CarCraftAutoDetailing
      @CarCraftAutoDetailing  8 місяців тому

      Thanks Larry, and I’ve had no issue combining/layer products with various traditional, ceramic or graphene content, in fact may brands do make waxes, sealants and coatings containing a variety of SiO2, graphene and more traditional polymers combined in the same product. If keeping Meguiars HPC’s hydrophobicity at peek, something like Meguiars own Hybrid Ceramic Detailer could be worth using - alternatively the new version of their Ultimate QD is meant to be far more hydrophobic also having a hybrid polymer bend of ingredients like Hybrid Paint Coating.

    Hi Sandro, thanks for product testing on these 3 spray ceramic sealants. As I have never applied a ceramic coating, I'm a little confused and trying to understand the difficulty in applying the product to the applicator by the liquid from a bottle and the spray from a can. Being a spray product, can it be sprayed directly onto the paint, and then spread out with the applicator? Maybe I'm just missing the concept of a spray ceramic product. Cheers.

    • @CarCraftAutoDetailing
      @CarCraftAutoDetailing  2 роки тому +2

      No you’re not missing anything 🙂
      It really is more of a gimmick having it in a spray can as like you mentioned you still have to apply it to an applicator which is just as quick and easy to do with a standard pouring bottle.

    • @dankuhn7496
      @dankuhn7496 2 роки тому +4

      @@CarCraftAutoDetailing One of the other advantages of a spray can is shelf life. Once you open a bottle of coating, the clock starts ticking which matters if you buy a larger bottle and don't use all the product in a short period of time. The aerosol can allows products like Meguiars to have a long shelf life as it only begins to "cure" once sprayed. You can recoat your car over several years with one can, in theory.

Ill feedback to you some tips about CanCoat applying the older version and the newer: as it is a spray coating it is made to be easy to apply and in fact you can coat a car in 20 minutes. How? Ignoring the instructions and using your own application process as on the video will indeed take a lot longer. Perhaps try following the manufacturer’s instructions and see. I did 4 cars, two layers, then two more layers 6 months later, then the rest to top Mohs Evo on all four, six months later. Then used it up on lawnmower, snowblower, glass shower, etc.

    Hey Sandro - thank you for the video and comparison. Wonderful. Two questions - First, why is MHPC so expensive in Australia? It's just $50-$60 here in the USA and after conversion that works out to $73-$87 AUD. But you paid twice that. Just curious if you know. Second, if these products degrade after only 2 or 3 washes with Multi X (and other similar chemicals) then what is the benefit of it in the end? Isn't a a cheaper version of them (TW Seal n Shine, or other spray waxes, hand applied waxes, point being shorter duration protection products, etc) the better/more cost effective alternative? I personally have used MHPC and loved it. But I also don't like long lasting protection products (6 month +). I love the once a month or every other wash application of protection. It's much more enjoyable for me. Thanks!

      Haha Seal n Shine is garbage compared to these products.
      SNS is only good at short term chemical durability tests. The kind of tests that are so far from real world exposure it’s not funny. Otherwise that product is between bad to average in every other attribute.
      Meguiar’s hybrid paint coating (for example) has much better water behavior, better self-cleaning behavior, gloss and shine, and real world durability.

    • @CarCraftAutoDetailing
      @CarCraftAutoDetailing  2 роки тому

      My pleasure mate and my guess is that Meguiars is so expensive here because the Aussie distributor is placing huge markups. Multi-X or really most stronger APCs shouldn’t be used and certainly not in an aggressive physical manner to clean a coating, they really aren’t maintenance products. Chemical resistant tests of sorts are conducted by many brands to predict durability. If you enjoy reapplying paint protection products more often there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, it’s really more of a personal thing, and in the end the market decides what people want and whether or not certain types of products will sell.

    Question - I had Gyeon Infinite Evo applied professionally on my car. Once yearly I am supposed to top it off with CanCoat. Honestly this looks a bit intimidating. Could the Meguair's be used to top off the Gyeon coating? Ive heard on several detailing channels that ceramic coatings tend to be compatible, but that its probably best to stick with the brand you have as a base. But if I am going to screw up the top off, leave high spots and ruin the finish, it doesent make sense to stick to that brand right?

    • @CarCraftAutoDetailing

      It’s really one of those things that’s very subjective and you will get different answers and opinions from everyone. I think it’s important to feel comfortable with what you’re working with and many of us that apply coatings for a living sometimes forget that’s there’s a learning curve we too had to go through. The Meguiars seems to look, feel and behave not all that differently to Can Coat so I feel it may in fact work just fine as a topper in your case and also give you a more friendly and forgiving application saving you some stress.

      I think it was close between them years ago when Lite first came out and I still think it would be close today with Evo. I’m not sure I saw a huge potential durability increase with the Evo updated coatings, just more slight, so I do think it would be close and could go either way.

    Fusso Soft 99 is better
    It won’t add extra gloss but it will last a year
    One can of Fusso will easily last the lifetime of the car
    It is not bad to apply and remove if you put a very very thin layer on
    It comes off somewhat like the old rubbing compound use to
    But the durability of Fusso for the price is unmatched
    Also you can top the Fusso with anything you want adding extra life and durability to it.

    • @CarCraftAutoDetailing

      Laying times will vary from product to product as well as environmental factors. Sometimes you can immediately apply a second layer after the first, other times you’ll need to wait several hours. Generally the quicker a coating/sealant flashes/bonds/cures the faster you can layer and vice versa the slower a product is to flash/cure the longer you’ll need to wait.

    • @CarCraftAutoDetailing
      @CarCraftAutoDetailing  Рік тому +1

      I have covered those topics in a few of detailing vlogs, but typically you should change your suede clothes every 1/2hr or use about 4 per car. You can put your wiping cloths in warm soapy water immediately after use and get some more uses from them but they will still degrade to some extent. I typically use sone good affordable short pile cloth that when bough in bulk are about a dollar each - and just dispose of them after coating use.

    7:04 Dang, you can really see the darkening effect of CanCoat on this panel. 10:52 Oh Sandro, I noticed right away that the Sonax was a touch above the rest, and that's saying a lot because CanCoat is very hydrophobic! But then again I'm not your regular person, and I'm a bead chasing maniac. It's not unexpected, though as Sonax has always been top notch and I've been blown away by a couple of their products (Germans are just amazing). 17:12 - 18:11 AMEN BROTHER! I could mention a massive name that's the biggest offender here, but I'll keep it to myself lol. I've already had discussions with him on his page about another topic, to which he implied I was wrong but then ended up giving me an answer that invalidated the whole thread and proved my initial point, beating himself alongside me without even noticing. Oh and he's THE industry leading "expert" that looks down upon the rest, while way more actually knowledgeable and talented detailers out there just share their passion and info without any smoke and mirrors or misleading content, kinda like you ;). Thanks for the content man, I'd always wondered what their ceramic coating was like, but didn't see any reviews anywhere and I didn't wanna be the guinea pig for it. I still to this day always keep some BSD on hand for use as a drying aid/"topper" as it's one of the most hydrophobic, bang for buck products out there, and the gardenia smell is second to none. Also, Perfect Finish has to be my most used abrasive ever. It's my go to for pretty much all 2 stage corrections, and most of my one steps as well (some times I'll have to jump to something harsher if I'm working on hammered and/or harder finishes to 1 step, but 90% of the time it's just SPF with a yellow rupes). Love the super soft modern Range Rovers, as their colors are beautiful and they can be pretty dang hammered and still come out near perfect with just the SPF/Yellow rupes combo because it's such soft clear, and that combo finishes down haze free with the proper technique and specially easy if I'm working in the shop with the A/C on.

    Big fan of yours but your application process for can coat is completely wrong. It's not supposed to be applied that thick and that slowly like a traditional ceramic. If you just hit the included towel with 3 sprays per section(half door) and wipe around quickly is basically flashes 95% of the stuff off. It's Hands down the best coating I've ever used. I also like that it last 12 to 18 months which is a perfect amount of time for light polish.
    Never understood why people bother with a 3 to 5 year coating which will need a light to moderate polish in a year or so(depending on paint softness) which than just removes the coating. 1 bottle can do close to 5 or 6 cars.

    • @CarCraftAutoDetailing
      @CarCraftAutoDetailing  2 роки тому +4

      Appreciate that mate but like I mention in the video I used it with the included towel and performed many more tests prior to making the video. The way it performed applying it more consistently in the footage was actually superior to how it performed applying it more sporadically with a cloth. So if anything the performance was better than typical here and more than fair, and the results certainly reflected that.
      I know you guys just watch a quick video, but I think you’d be surprised just how time, testing and consideration goes into each video, and it’s not always just following or accepting what the brand tells you or recommends you do, I try to bring my own experiences and insights to every video rather than just regurgitating what you can already find on the brands own website, so I hope you appreciate and find value in that.
