I'm really disappointed you did not mention it can't detect External IPs. TPlink and Dlink can do this, but I have to get a static IP in order to use DDNS.
Fantastic video. It's been two years since it was posted. How's it holding up these days? I'm considering getting this router, installing OpenWRT, and using the USB port to connect a UPS (which only has USB) to enable automatic shutdown for the VMs on my Proxmox server.
My older Asus AC router have usb 3.0 port. I don't understand why manufacturers downgrade on things and cheap out on such small things. New hardware should have new connectivity options.
Jayce, thanks for this. I got a question, for home use, which scenario is better 2 x AX53U (we can use AiMesh, right?) or 1 AX55U. The cost is very similar here in my city. Thanks.
Hi i was wondering how this compares to the RT-AX55? Here in Thailand the AX55 is about $20 USD more, but it's also a year old. So I'm wondering if the AX53U would be faster or have better range. For reference, I live in a 2 bedroom 120sqm apartment with a 500mbps internet connection. I watched your AX55 review but it's a little bit difficult to get a full understanding of the speed and range differences. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi Jayce. I bought this RT-AX53U this week to replace my old Asus router. The problem is when configured with unifi, its not working. I have my unifi user name & password correct. I even restore the router to factory setting and start the configuration all over again. My RJ-45 WAN cable are correct. But the result still the same. Could you please help whats going on here. I didn’t see any wrong here.
Asus ax53u(ax1800) vs TP link archer 53(ax3000). I am confused since TP link has ax3000 compared to asus' ax1800 but asus has generally better routers. I am getting both for exact same price. Please help

Cost cutting...
USB3.0 somewhat sucks. Saturation problems..

55U is better

Hi bought this but would like to use this as a router modem combo. Is it possible to buy a sim card reader and plug in usb port???
Need 4G / 5G USB dongle.
Is dual WAN only for WAN and USB? Or can 1 LAN port be used as WAN port?
Good question. Please check with Asus Support. My review unit was returned. Can't check it here. Sorry...
Hi, do you know what's the maximum number of devices this can whitelist to connect?

Hi where did you obtain beta firmware from?
From Asus Malaysia.
@@jayceooi Thanks, unfortunately their support email wasn't helpful and said there was no such firmware
@@TingFeng77 I believe it is not stable enough for public use then. Just wait and it will come.
does the router have aimesh in its latest firmware? to clarify, not aimesh in the beta firmware.
Yes. AiMesh is on official firmware now.
How much max speed can we get by usb tethering the phone.
