    In first corona year I did such kinda head for a friend . I installed 1.5 mm oversize super alloy on exhaust as old was worn, 1.5 mm oversize stainless on intake. Both bronze guides and ported both intake and exhaust port . Then planed to raise compression at least 1 point.... Now the engine runs very well and startermotor only gets it going when throttle closed as otherwise dynamic compression is too high...
    Charged only couple of bux as the fun seeing him doing the lawn with much better track times and fuel efficiency is worth it. 😁

    • @jameslmorehead
      @jameslmorehead Рік тому

      Install a compression release on the intake valve for them. That takes the strain off the starter, or your arm, when starting a higher compression mower. I had a tricked out walk behind mower when I was mowing lawns as a teenager. I did so much work to that motor it would make your head spin. My neighbor saw me pull starting it one day, lifting the whole mower off the ground if I didn't get the pull timed just right. He offered to help install the pressure release and boy oh boy did it make a difference.

      Compression ratio is MAYBE 8.5:1. That little amount of shave barely increases static compression. As it looks like the head gasket previously used was not a mls gasket, even torqueing the head a bit more than you should will give more CR than this shave.

    Very interesting, I'm working on a power washer, the customer said, it won't run, I think it has bad gas. I checked the compression , none. I pulled the head, valves look bad I'm going to.have a machine shop do a valve job next week. I'm sure this thing will run better than it ever did before. The customer may not like the cost, but if he doesn't want to pay, I can sell it I'm sure.
    Very good work.
