Brandon Victor Dixon was awesome in this! His voice is amazing!
I never thought I'd like anyone in this role as well as I liked Carl Anderson, but Brandon Victor Dixon nails it!
He was fantastic!
I loved him in this. Disliked Legend in that role. It did not fit well.
@@sheryllbarker3482 That's really kind of you to say
I love every version of this musical because it's a Masterpiece
I can tell they had a lot of fun with this
Thanks for reinventing this classic
this version of Judas gives a whole different look as why he did why he did I love it
This is an unbelievably fantastic live performance!
I saw the original movie when it came out. Was living in Atlanta, was just a kid. I begged to go see it, and it was great. I went home singing all the songs.
They have vocals! They sound excellent!
Look, Alice Cooper just showed up, they didn't even give him a costume. Just walked up off the street.
He Dosent usually wear so much makeup though does he ?,I didn’t know who he was untill this performance
This version was such a delightful surprise! I believe it was a remake or at least heavily influenced by the British version with Tim Minchin.
Yes. My only complaint was Legend was slow on the uptake in the live. He had a visible adjustment to live stage vs "concerts".
I hope you post the King Herod number. Alice Cooper was so great in the role
Fantastic musical !
I really tried to like this. I saw this musical in San Francisco and loved it. This version, not so much.
Obrigada... Brasil 🧡🧡🇧🇷🇧🇷
De nada
Brandon Victor Dixon is amazing
I spy with my little eye...Michaela Diamond! ❤
I think this version of JCS is the best, and will be the most timeless.
You can’t be serious, John Legend has 0 emotion. 1973, 2000 & 2012 all better
I loved hossanah and Pilate and Christ from both this and the movie version with Ted Neely
John Legend was such a terrible miscast ... it doesn't get any worse than that! Check out "The Passion" from New Orleans 2016 (here on UA-cam in full length and as individual clips). Jencarlos Canela played Jesus so vulnerable and touching that viewers and cast were in tears. Jencarlos Canela is unsurpassed as an artist in singing and acting! This live performance in New Orleans was far better and more touching than any production of Jesus Christ Superstar.
I really seems that they were looking for the "hot musical thing" and hope for the best. Notice that only one after this was "Rent Live" and that was mostly STAGE CAST with the OC on hand (for obvi, IMO, dub over if needed).
Liked the show, wouldve loved it with Adam Lambert as Jesus though 😊
I have always love this movie JCSS. This is no comparison to the original.
Es mi oído o están tocando palmas el púbico con el tema, me parece ridículo, o será mi oído. Me gusta todo lo relacionado con JS desde niña
..❤❤❤❤
..Este hombre es excepcional, una maravilla 😍😍😍
IT was good. Except for John Legend. Felt like he was just there. Norm Lewis was perfect for Caiaphas.
That guy is amazing...why isn't he listed in the thumbnail?🤔
I would have reached out for Brandon's hand, not John's. Hell, I would have tried to climb on the stage. 😆
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👍👍
Is it available on DVD or Bluray?
Yes.
Is this watchable anywhere anymore?!
On Superstar he is touching Minchin and the original!
The title and description of this video should be corrected. It is criminal to only mention Brandon at the bottom of description, and the song Jesus Christ Superstar isn't actually the last song.
I saw it live on stage in the 1970's, and it was not Teddy Neely. Seattle.
I'm not opposed to John Legend coming out and greeting the crowd as he did. I think it could've been cool, but doing it right as Brandon Victor Dixon is killing it with Heaven On Their Minds and having a big moment was not the right place to do it.
It sucks he was being covered by the cheers, but it kind of works with the point of the song? Judas is wishing Jesus would listen to him like he used to and stop attracting so much public attention, but his voice is drowned out in the crowd. It makes the moment at the end where everything dies down and Judas and Jesus finally make eye contact so impactful. All Jesus hears is the last few notes; he doesn't hear why Judas is angry or worried, just that he is feeling that way. TL,DR; wish we could hear Dixon's epic vocals better, but it kinda works for drama.
@@deborahingle2301 That's fair.
That is intentional. It's the perfect juxtaposition to the words of the song.
That was done on purpose with what Judas is saying with people viewing Jesus as God as they cheer him on
Has anyone noticed that each character Brandon Victor Dixon has played has an association with another character close to his character dying?
Hamilton in 2016 as Burr...shoots Alexander Hamilton
JCSS in 2018 as Judas...betrayed Jesus and Jesus gets crucified
Rent Live in 2019 as Collins...loves Angel and Angel dies from AIDS
There were plenty of black actors who would have done a better job. Than Legend.😮
Turkleton is singing pretty good.
Nothing compares to the original cast recording. Nothing.
Tim Minchin is an absolute unit as Judas, his performance comes close to rivaling the original. But you are right, the original stands on top
Jhon Legend as Jesus is so wrong.
John Legend was the worst possible choice for this role. He and his voice are too wimpy. I knew it would be bad from the moment I heard he was playing Christ. This music takes a rock voice. Legend is not even close to having a rock voice. Just no. Judas stole the show right out from under him.
Omg you should see the Australian version from the 90s. So much better than this.
John so called Legend was horrid in this. Everyone else was awesome.
I just.. can't like it. Im sorry
This version is terrible
