I saw Stig in Les Mis in about 1997 on the UK national tour when it was at the Theatre Royal Plymouth. My very first Les Mis and it was completely and utterly overwhelming and Stig was amazing. My heart was full and I was bursting with emotion at the end. He had one of the most beautiful male voices that I have ever heard. I have seen Les Mis on a number of occasions since in London and not once has anyone in Jean Valjean's role eclipsed Stig.......although I am planning to see Alfie Boe.
Stigs voice is more soothing and more modern. I like that he doesn't have vibrato on every note and every line. I respect the other Valjeans, but Stig's voice is soft when it should be and he "builds" the song and adds dynamics to it. Falsetto is gorgeous and airy at times...love it
The perfect tonality of his voice...it honestly is perfect. He is perfectly hitting each notes, and with his vibrato he leaves a little signature onto your heart. Exceptional.
After listened to a lot of versions, I choose Stigs interpretation and timbre of Bring him home.Devote to the music and lyrics, sincere on repeate with tears in my eyes. Thank you for the music,Stig Rossen.
I saw Stig perform as Jean Valjean in Cape Town in I guess about 1996. Afterwards I was speechless for about an hour as it just sank in the magnificence of what I had just witnessed. It was one of the highlights of my life in terms of musicals. Stig, your voice is angelic. Never stop.
Like a previous viewer, I saw Stig perform this role in London around 1997 and thought he was brilliant. I've been a fan of his and a fan of Les Mis ever since that first time seeing it. Many years later, having the privelege of playing Valjean myself, one of the most challenging male roles in musical theatre, I still remembered his performance and drew on it for my own!
Stig Rossen is simply gifted and very talented. There's no need to compare his rendition of BHH with others. He has given the song everything it needs to convey the story and emotions.
@@StigRossenOfficial just a bit, so many times in the Musical. Hopefully one day, we can sing it together. Hugs from an old Valjean to another fabulous Valjean.
WOW! So many great voices on people I've never heard of! Glad I'm not competing with Stig tomorrow for role of Valjean. Soooo many great singers over-sing this when doing so detracts from its self-contained beauty, sweetness and simplicity.
This is one of the most respected singers in Danish history. The falsetto was maybe a bit too low for him, agreed. But listen to some of his other performances ;)
I am shocked at how few views this video has had. I love Stig - he has the most beautiful voice that I have ever heard. Please come back to the UK because you have an incredible talent. I saw you in Les Mis in Plymouth and it was amazing. Please do more recording in English.
@raddwest I have said this before and I say it again, there is no version on youtube so far that can beat Mads Beldens version. A pretty unknown singer from norway, pretty unbelievable and he did that performance at age 17. link youtubedotcom/watch?v=f0u0sCFe19A change dot to . Also check out his "Mary did you know" it's just so beautiful and effortless. It breaks my heart he doesn't have more views and others who sing shit do.
No where close as to Alfie Boe's performance in the 25th Anniversary Concert at the O2 (and I used to think no one could top or match Colm Wilkinson, but WOW).
just watched alfie boe do this at the o2 stig is too technical, not enough feeling when alfie boe got a standing ovation for this song he nearly broke down in tears himself...was a great moment
@gottagotothecity From everything I've heard, Alfie Boe is phenomenal in Les Mis at the Queen's. Critics and audience all say that Alfie disappears and all you see onstage is Valjean. Which is my problem with Stig here. He has an amazing voice, truly beautiful. With classical training, he might have rivaled Alfie. But Stig is acting here, while Alfie is praying. That's the difference.
Jamie Pugh is ok but he got nothing on Stig.. Jamie's got a wobbling vibrato - unbalanced support and lacks confidence. Stig's interpretation and execution is awesome. Enough with Jamie Pugh..
However effortlessly he sings this song, it lacks emotional substance. I didn't FEEL his plight. Watch Colm sing this and the raw power of the songs shines.
This is a another version sung by somebody, who is very courageous, singing it in front of so many people without owning a voice! Sorry, it sounds very flat to me.
I disagree. Having seen him portray Jean Valjean onstage literally dozens of times, I can attest that Rossen appreciates the complexity of the character. Perhaps it's the setting (in a suit a suit at his own concert vs. in costume, kneeling by a barricade, 2 hours into the story) that takes us out of the moment. His vocal range in this song is especially impressive, particularly his freedom in the higher notes. Truly, if you have a chance to see him in Les Miserables, it's like the role of Jean Valjean was written for him.

Again Stig wonderful. Your voice, Stig, is bell-like. So rare!

HELT UNDERBART.
The perfect tonality of his voice...it honestly is perfect. He is perfectly hitting each notes, and with his vibrato he leaves a little signature onto your heart. Exceptional.

I agree Jan !!!
Oh, I love Stig Rossen! I saw the Les Miserables the musical in Århus theater the other day. So amazing!
There are many good renditions of this beautiful song and this by Stig is absolutely one of the best!

This is the best performance for this song out of all the 5 that I listened to!
Fantastic voice control!

I have just discovered you! Wow, amazing Stig. This is a fantastic rendition which is right up there with the best I have heard...

I would say he may not be as amazing as Colm Wilkinson but he is still so amazing and better than a few others I have heard!
Colm Wilkinson, there is ONLY ONE, and its that gentleman...
bravo, bravo, bravo
WOW!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
@kense75 Yes, he did - altogether he has played Jean Valjean 1500 times in 10 different countries. Not bad for a modest Dane:-)
Best Jean Valjean

HOW
Jermany Clarkson: "Some say that he can sing the song Bring Him Home from Les Miserables, well he's called the Stig"

Not impressed. He lacks the format and depth required for this song. Besides I'm quite disgusted by his "I'm a super star" attitude.
