Couple reasons for the missing glass: one, less risk of vandalism of people breaking it. Second is to try to keep out squatters because it makes it much colder in the winter.
I went to that school. And you were close in finding the pool it was in the gym through the shower/dressing room. You just didn't go far enough. The smaller building next door was Spaulding an entirely different school
It was slated for demolition. You may already know this, but the school recently burned a second, the fire starting in the attic. The attic and most of the roof is gone. Strange seeing you walking thru the very area where the fire would one day start.
🤣 homie I gotta say you are braver than I going into these schools solo. Not because they are abandoned but because it’s in Gary Indiana. I am 2 towns away from Gary, no thanks I am fine.
@@JaredCokerUrbex Well we are going to see if I can make it half as long as you did, my son really wants to do some urban exploring and unfortunately there are not too many places that are abandoned close that is not in Gary. The boys home in Cedar Lake is amazing I have been there more times than I can count.
Great video, this was a cool explore! Very weird about the new flashlight; with that happening, and the yelling person, I could see how you'd be freaked out...but you pulled it together for a good walkthrough. Hope the new light starts working consistently again. It was funny how, as you were preparing to leave, you passed that post that had a "never give up" sticker on it. Thanks for sharing, see you on the next adventure! 👍😁
Thanks, the flashlight just needed to charge, you'll see the issues continue in next week's episode, but the problem appeared to be as simple as it needing a charge. Just kinda odd how it just goes off completely instead of getting dimmer.
I still chuckle over this being the only town that the buildings do not have windows. I highly doubt it's because they don't want urban explorers to cut themself :) The never ending stairs going down was pretty wild. Had that at my high school, William Chrisman, during my freshman year of gym class (1986-ish). Not only were the locker rooms downstairs, but when we did a Hunter Safety Course put on by MO Dept of Conserveration, it was another level of stairs going down behind a door. There was a range set up down there for BB guns. Also in there was another hidden level going down that was blocked off. My mom went there in the late 60's and said there used to be an underground tunnel in Independence at 24 Highway and Noland Road where students could enter from the street and it would wind up where there gun range was. I heard that tunnel under the intersection was closed in the 1970's because a body was found down there.
I mostly got into it from watching other youtube videos of people doing it, and because I was already an outdoorsy person and wanted to try to find some cool new areas. My biggest tip that I never really hear anyone else give is to start small. Like when I started out, I just went to a few smaller little rural houses, barns, etc. It was a while before I really got to hitting bigger spots like hospitals and schools and whatnot. I think it kinda helps when you slowly level up till you get a general feel for the environment.

I saw a news article of it burning, it made me sad, sucks this one will be gone.

I'm way too desensitized to this stuff for my own good

Emerson closed after Horace Mann but it looks worse. The last building you were was a separate school. It was an elementary school named Spaulding.
The pool was filled in and became a computer lab.
RE Baker estate vibes, being in that attic.
The window frames were all aluminum. The aluminum is very expensive and gets taken and sold at the scrap yard.
I believe one was an elementary school the other was a middle school and then you had the high school

Awesome video! If you don’t mind me asking, how did you get into urbex? What tips would you give to someone starting out?
