In todays video, we explored a school near Hazard Kentucky that was directly hit by the 2022 Eastern Kentucky Flooding…..and what a tragic and emotional experience it was. The flooding had completely ravaged the school and it most likely will be a total loss. This is the second Kentucky disaster to hit this area in the past year.
The elementary school itself was an eerie post apocalyptic experience. Many of the walls and ceilings had shifted and collapsed inside both classrooms and hallways. The swift rising current dragged and moved heavy furnishings, equipment, and supplies all over the interior, blocking many hallways. The remaining water, dirt, mud, and of course sewage sat stagnant across the entire buildings interior floor, making navigating this place nearly impossible. So it was for these reasons that our explore of the elementary school was limited.
Nobody would have imagined that less than 8 months after devastating tornadoes caused a state of emergency and re-wrote the record books throughout western Kentucky , another catastrophic rainstorm would slam the state of Kentucky. By the time it was all over, the records books would again have to be rewritten with this “1 in 1000 year flooding.”
The rainstorm struck Eastern Kentucky on July 26, 2022 and would go on to dump more than 16 inches of rain water over the next few days.
When it was all said and done, thousands of homes were completely destroyed, many swept right from their foundation, and most tragically 40 people lost their lives.
As we left the flooded elementary school and headed back, we continued to think of the people. As it will take many years to rebuild the areas impacted by these atrocious floods, our hearts and prayers go out to all the people effected by them. I believe that was the middle school in Hazzard. Thank You for covering this and the tornadoes from December in western Kentucky. I live in Kentucky and it’s good to see someone document these things.

The flooding looks a lot worse than the twister in my view the aftermath is bad with the mud and water damage...mold...etc...

The school was not abandoned. Robinson Elementary would have started the school year with almost 300 students.
Was not, now is, until they eventually demolish it.
This could be fixed
Save the flag. Save the trophy’s! You can’t replace those. There are a few things that could be saved. 🤔

you should get some waders. You have no idea whats in that water, sewage, dead rotting animals. Its so sad seeing all those books go to waste like that and by looking at that torphy cabinet the school only closed recently. I wonder why?
