Ultimate Taiwan Day Trip - Shifen & Jiufen Travel Guide from Taipei

- Taipei is beautiful on its own but one thing we love to do is explore the countryside. If you got a day to spare do a day trip from Taipei to Shifen and Jiufen. This is a travel guide for First Timer on how to plan your Taiwan Day Trip itinerary from Taipei.
First things first head down to Taipei Main Station where you’ll take the TRA line towards Ruifang Station.
From Ruifang switch to the Pingxi Line towards Shifen. At Shifen you can fly the lantern at Shifen Old Street and you can also take a 15 minute walk towards the picturesque shifen waterfall.
When you are done take the Pingxi Line back to Ruifang where you’ll take bus 788 towards Jiufen (15 minute ride)
At Jiufen you can explore Jiufen old street for the street food and breathtaking views down the mountain and enjoy a cup of tea at Amei Tea house.
Note please book in advance the Amei Tea House spot as it gets fully reserved easily.

The waterfall does look amazing! As Helmi says, it's smaller than Naiagara falls but definitely worth visiting! Loved the video! Now, we badly want to go traveling.😍😆

Hey you two!! Great to see you on your Taipei day trip! Those are such cool lanterns you got to write on. We would totally do that if we were there. The waterfall was so beautiful as we are huge fans of waterfalls.. This is completely different than Niagara falls, but so stunning! We were cracking up when Helmi was holding the umbrella and you said "Asian mode: on" LOL!!! That's cool that the train comes through the middle of the town. Sucks you missed the one train, but glad you had some food while waiting for the next!! The drone shots are amazing!! Thanks for taking us with you and lots of love to you both!! Have a great week!

Peter and Yen, please don't fly a sky lantern. They're bad for the environment, wildlife and have been known to cause fires resulting in injury and death.

The Jiufen city looks amazing, but so is the view around it!!! We live for coriander! Gotta try it if we visit Jiufen!! So much good food!!!! You know what? Miyazaki never confirmed he got inspiration from Jiufen for Spirited Away! We got it wrong too! Don't know who started the rumor, but you can find some reddits about it.
Still, a very nice place! Love the old street and the huge teahouse!

Awwwesome episode guys! The train tracks look very similar to the one in Hanoi! The views from the top of Jiufen looked great. What drone did you use for those shots? The taro balls looked nice too, reminds me a little bit of es kacang or cendol kind of dishes.
