Great video. With my husband being from Louisiana we make the food here at home. I make gumbo, our daughter makes wonderful red beans and rice and our son makes shrimp etouffee. We’ve had alligator at his cousins house that lives in Louisiana and it’s wonderful. He marinates it in a Italian dressing for a while them puts lemon pepper in the batter and deep fries it, so yummy! And a Prince pizza is coming to the gas lamp quarter in San Diego. Have a great week.

I was just in New Orleans in December and I miss it already. Felix has the best turtle soup I've had. Looking forward to my next New Orleans trip. There and Vegas I can never get tired of.
Gena, if you haven't been yet, Commander's Palace has incredible turtle soup. Also, for martini lovers...25 cent martinis at lunch. 😎
@@RobdaVegasMailman Commander's Palace is one of the best restaurants in the city. The 25 cent martinis are Mon.-Thurs. for lunch and you can only have 3, which is probably enough.
@@DixiePokerAce Absolutely yes to both. They had a Commander's Palace here on The Strip for a few months back in 2006 but it never took off. I also remember Pat O's being on the end of Beale Street in Memphis many years back but that didn't last, either.

Hi! Glad to see you both having a great time in one of your fav cities! Now I remember when I was younger on my first NOLA trip I bought a lot of alligator jerky. But now I am adding NOLA again to try the fried alligator!!! Craving red beans and rice from the Mother’s Restaurant there, hope it’s still there and my muffuletta sandwich. I made a list of places to fly that are 3 hours or a little more than 3 hours from me and I have quite a list now, going to be adventurous and put the city names in a bag a do mystery draw when we get the travel bug…Thank you for sharing! Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop is the oldest building in the country that houses a bar. I think it was built around 1733. It doesn't look very crowded. You must be there during the week.
Went there on a Tuesday night.

Thanks for another great video of my hometown. Now, my stomach is homesick but at least I'm enjoying a Purple Haze while I have this. For any first timers going to New Orleans soon, Abita's Brewery is in Covington, across Lake Pontchartrain. They have many good selections but I favor Purple Haze. It's a raspberry wheat beer with a distinctive taste. Also, New Orleans weather can change drastically this time of year. You'll have a 70 degree day one day, then a cold front comes through and the next day is in the 40's and windy. A dollar for every day that I started working in shorts and had to change into long pants and a jacket by the end of the day. One last question for Bill and Lisa...did y'all ever try Killer Po Boys, behind the Erin Rose Bar on Conti? Seared Gulf Shrimp Po Boy FTW
We did try Killer Po Boys several years ago, it was pretty good! Might have to do a revisit!
