Thank you for your video, it would have been helpful if you explained on how to fill in about the manufacturer, cause sometimes depending on where you brought the product, there is no manufacturer name on products
I started with Generic LISTING AND THAT WHAT MOST sellers from my country Nigeria use...brand name is great but as a beginner its good to start with this generic pakage

That would be the where you’re buying your products…the name of the business.. ask your supplier.. I went through that.. very easy to find

Great video, I have a question, if someone is selling the same item that isn’t branded (Chinese import) can I also sell that product under a generic brand? Or could they be selling it private label? If so how do I check??
the information was very good but you didnt mention about the variation part what did you put on the External Product ID and External Product ID Type since it is genetics
One another downside is that once you brand your product as Generic, then it's really difficult to change the brand name on the listings even if you have a brand registry and trademark for it.
You would have to delete the listing and relist

@@KaleemKhan-ox9gh Because Amazon mentions in their help pages that brand name cannot be changed once assigned to a listing. If you had to create a branded listing then you need to do catalog authorization and later on do the brand registry. You might be lucky if you can convince support to change your generic to brand name. Best of luck
What do you mean when you said your existing listing may be placed on someone else’s existing listing, does that mean, Can your profit, when that item is sold, the generic item, go to someone else if they have that same listing?

I have a question I have about 20 items that I want to sell but they are all different. What do you recommend for me to do as for the barcodes.. obviously it won’t be worth it if I purchase 1 barcode for each item.. I’m just a little lost on what to do??

I just starred as a reseller(mostly books) using fbm. However when adding a new product I am still confused on barcode etc when there isn't one on the book. Also, when you day brand your product or private label what exactly does that mean? I though you can't do that unless you are the one physically making the product ie homemade items etc.

If you do this, when you ship products to Amazon, do they apply the generic sku? I’m confused how that process works, or do I have to use FBM if I sell generic?
I am in the process and I just passed that step.. when you start the shipping plan, Amazon will give you the barcode and you send that over to your supplier who will apply it on your units… don’t let amazon do it.. it will cost you extra money..

As I am starting new as well and doing FBA I learned that you can exempt the product ID option. I did today and use generic brands, and my listing is live and active. But since i still need to place the order for the goods. Atleast once the shipment is ready I know I already created listing. Amazon need to do a better job in explaining the whole process for new members as there are a thousand ways to approach. I am planning to create small videos of my steps so I can learn and teach someone as well.

Hi Josh, great informative video! Think you can update the first step adding the product because process has changed. Checking the "I dont have a product ID" turns to "A GTIN exemption is required if you put a Generic brand name or checkmark the "This product does not have a brand name". So basically can't move past this part without adding a Product ID :( Any help would be awesome 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Yea you have to take gtin exemption and then after 24hr Amazon will allow you to list
Exemption is instant now. I just did it last night. Once exempted Product ID will be auto populated. It’s very fast as of 7/11/23

The condition of the product that you're selling (new, used, collectible, etc.).
So I’m partnered with a manufacturer and I have a product I want to sell that isn’t on Amazon but it’s a known brand. I can choose the brand but I don’t have a UPC code for the product. Do I still purchase a UPC code from GS1 for a known brand or do I ask the manufacturer for that UPC code ? Thanks

So, if I just buy 1000 widgets off of Alibaba and want to sell them on Amazon, I can? It will just be listed as "Generic"? Also, do I have control over my listing pages for adding images and videos, and all the finer details of this generic widget? I don't have a brand, nor any trademarks for anything I've made. I just wish to buy wholesale and markup for a profit. I am sure this must be 90% of the people selling on Amazon, no? Thanks in advance!
Don’t start with 1000 lol… especially if you’re trying generic for the first time.. start small to see how it picks up
@@mirlinesmith6083 I am going to create my "brand", I am just really confused on what a BRASND is... Is "Nike" a brand, or is Nike Sweatshirts a "Brand". Do I need to trademark each and ever item I plan to sell under my company's Brand Name, or each product by it's name. So instead of "The Fire Stick Flashlight by XYZ" to get approval to sell that on Amazon, do I need to actually TM the NAME "The Fire Stick Flashlight". That could get really time consuming and expensive! Thanks!

You’re not ordering upc if you are selling generic products.. Amazon will exempt you from buying one.. you will be given a sku number…200 skus will be generated from amazon and you send that to your supplier so they can place them over your units
Hey Josh, so I’m coming across a problem that I just know you can solve, well because your Josh!
I’m trying to sell baby products on Amazon FBA, however each application I’m submitting, there saying things such as you need to provide this and that in order to continue, then after I do submit my final submission with everything they were looking for they just basically we Decline your submission, without any reason on why.
Do you know anything about selling baby products on Amazon ?
Maybe it’s an area on Amazon that you could look into for us and work your magic.
I personally feel as in order too sell on Amazon that the product must come from a high end facility, but at this point I’m lost.

Rick don't worry I am an expert i was just watching the comments and came up to your comment . Actually baby products are considered gated , Now gated products are the ones which are high sensitive and you need a lot of certifications to sell them . Baby products is a marvelous market but it is hard to get into it at start , at this time i don't know what certifications have you submitted if i would have known i would have suggested you on that too. At this known information i could not help you more but just advise you to open a case with amazon or hit me up we'll look into it .

Do a video for variations, they are a pain in the ass with no product ID.
Is it easier with Product ID? I’ve just learned GS1 started selling as minimum as 1 UPC.

you do not "need" a brand name, but it's highly recommended. Very few customers will purchase a "generic" product unless it's heavily discounted or a seasonal item.

Use the FNSKU label that Amazon will provide you with if you're not using the UPC barcode. Amazon will prompt you to download these when creating your shipment workflow

you're selling seasonal or one off items. you do not i repeat DO NOT want to sell a winning item under this ... others will hijack your listings fast. you will be lucky to last 1-2 months before someone undercuts you.
