It is the Best shoegaze song i have ever heard. This is not classical generic shoegaze which slowdive and my bloody valentine created. It doesn't sound overloaded, you can hear every instrument very clearly and at the same time that dreamy shoegaze aspect is still here. Very unique

I did the live sound for malory two times, and yes, they have their own special sound - not only because the have a "stereoanlage" (which means, they don't use "normal" guitar amps"), but also because Dani makes sounds with her guitar, thast other guys wouldn't get out of a synthesizer... ;o)

We - the three men - tried to write and record some new, more electronic sounding tracks from time to time but had no time to finish anything because of our jobs an families and the distance between Berlin, Doebeln and Radeberg. After all those years I'm still proud of our work since 1998. Pearl Diver to me remains an interesting open minded album without being a copy of the "shoegaze heroes"
Pearl Diver is not just an "interesting" album, it's unique. Lots of shoegaze/dream pop bands sound the same as each other but I could never find anything similar to Pearl Diver. Maybe Ulrich Schnauss, but it's still quite far. Eventually I decided to create some similar stuff myself, lol. (so now you are a "shoegaze heroes" for someone) Are you sure you want to waste your awesome talent only on some ordinary jobs? Maybe you all can contact online and make new music this way? If it's mostly electronic anyway

All of the albums are great but Pearl Diver is indeed a very unique record. I do realize, few souls truly physically collect anymore. Well, I do. I am a late-comer to the Malory party. I will admit that. Adore the Claire classics, Airiel, The Daysleepers, ugh. Either unavailable in ORIGINAL ARTICLE or prohibitively pricey. Spent 1/2 of my Christmas stipend on "The Third Face." No worries, just needed to hold it... just a thought...
Dunno if that was a stab at Malory or not, but Malory has their own sound. I've never heard any other Shoegaze band that sounds like them. Soundpool's alright, but the same thing you talked about happens in pretty much every genre. I just move on if a band is too generic for me. I listen to Malory almost daily.
The problem with most nu-gaze (excepting soundpool) is the sheer blandness of the chord changes. They're very one dimensional and unsatisfying. The use of that particular synth seems to be popular too. Check out soundpool, for some good nu-gaze. They sound like Lush, and also have their own sound, as well as utilizing more artistically sophisticated aspects of modern technology.
Have to agree with you, based on samples I've heard so far. The chorus to this song, however, is rather compelling. Seems like most Nu-Gaze (erg) bands I've heard set up a mood, and warble random vocal notes over it, instead of actually writing a real song.
