    😲Things wicked fast! A tip on gear mesh that I do is I pull the pinion all the way away from the spur gear until it's teeth are almost almost touching the spur gear then I spin the spur and find the out around spot that hits the pinion gear and mark it with a white dot on the spur or a with a marker and then set the gear mesh to this spot so it will be perfect with out no binding. you can also use a little piece of paper and put it in between the pinion and the spot marked on the spur and that should set a perfect mesh... lastly another tip use a dab of shoe goo goop glue go around the motor screws making sure its on the motor screw and on the motor plate and you will never have a motor slide out of position ever again. 😃

    the metal spur gear bearing race is a very smart thing, i waited for mine to break and had to rebuild my rear diff when the plastic bearing race failed.. so its cheaper to just get it before it breaks

      Yeah I don’t want to seem rude or distracting on stream so I turned my mic and cam off for awhile. I do a lot of RC maintenance on those calls, but also want to show what I’m doing. So I’m not all that engaged in the RC hangout sometimes and I apologize for that. Got good content though! Haha

    I enjoyed the set-up portion! Very good tips especially on the steering adjustments. I actually forgot to set my ESC to LiPO mode as well. Great bash too! From fence, to jump, to building, the Rustler held up well...considering. Shock cap seems to be an automatic upgrade. Bummer it made your out drive pop out.

    • @netcruzer
      @netcruzer  5 років тому

      The card says it ships in NIMH mode but then when I checked my ESC it was already green, indicating lipo. Confusing! I checked it a bunch of times thinking I read the card wrong. Yeah it held up ok, especially for that wall hit. I just did find a crack in that axle out drive. It’s a new weak point, I shared it on my Facebook and Instagram. Check your axles. One side of each U joint is chewed up and weaker from assembly. 😩

    the easiest way to mesh traxxas 4x4s is to use a piece of printer paper between the pinion and spur, push the pinion against the spur, snug the slider screw up and pull out the paper and BAM! perfect mesh.

    love your video… I want to ask you the consensus all across every channel is that the 3 cell system will definitely destroy your driveshafts… Are you planning on putting in metal ones? Also you can get 40 miles an hour by putting in that 17 tooth and then using a two cell battery Lipo is that not anything you would like if so why? The car is awesome by the way I'm sure we love it… By the way my car is ordered I'm just waiting I think I'm going to go crazy waiting for it

    • @netcruzer
      @netcruzer  Рік тому

      I didn’t keep the rustler 4x4 as I have a Granite 4x4 which was too similar so I only kept it because I didn’t want to spend all the upgrade money on the Rustler. but if I did keep it there is a newish plastic option now for getting 3S reliability. The Extreme kit from traxxas uses the MAXX axles and should hold up to 3S bashing. I’ve not tested them though. Metal MIP X-Duty or Tekno metal axles would have been the upgrade to do in the past and is still a good option too. But they don’t recommend RPM arms with the metal driveshafts as the extra flex might bend them. The 17T pinion is going to produce a lot of heat on 2S or 3S and that’s why they say it’s for pavement speed runs only. Grass/dirt bashing is harder on the drivetrain. Enjoy your Rustler 4x4!

    Hi I haven’t removed my rear end yet. I see how you say the metal bearing casing is a must as you install it. Now in this video, was that the $70 differential upgrade that you added that metal bearing casing to? I believe you said slipper clutch? If I go ahead and get the differential will that eliminate a metal bearing casing upgrade? Glad you showed those shocks also, I can’t get that damn body off of the front, or put it on w/o looking. I like the new concepts though, and tire tread.

      The maxx is a lot stronger but also handles a lot worse as stock. That’s why maxx has widemaxx accessories. All are waterproof, that does not mean submersible. Rustler is a lot of fun if you don’t need the extra ground clearance and handles better out of the box.

      @netcruzer  4 роки тому +1

      It’s usually 4000 to 5000 Mah batteries for decent runtime and punch.

      Those are nice, but I already have enough stuff to upgrade these. Aluminum shock caps to start. Then I might move my track tuned GTRs from Slash to Rustler.

      I broke one yesterday. I nailed a corner with one wheel at a good clip of speed and it cartwheels and barrel rolled a bit. It’ll still drive. It’s 75% broke lol gotta order new one.

    Do you think this is a first time rc car for my 11 year old son or should I just go vxl 2wd or xl-5(?)
    Thanks in advance

      I have this same car and my 11 year old and 9 year old can drive it no problem! I would say go with this one. It is awesome to drive and with the TSM it is very easy to control. Remember you also have training mode so he could learn at 50 percent.
