      @@phurrnesh Hi. No I did not have to worry actually. I have an amazing "Thai Dwarf" red papaya strain that I've been growing for about 8 years, I've planted more than 70 of these papaya and never once seen a male, all have been self pollinating females.. Until last year I had 2 papaya trees that were very "male looking" for the first season.. all of my other young plants were setting fruits and these two plants had a very thick cover of what looked like male flowers and did not have any fruit.. So I was talking on video to my UA-cam viewers and telling them "I decided I would cut those 2 trees down soon, if they don't fruit". And after I said that only one month later they both put out just one fruit... and then I showed that to viewers and said "it's still not enough" .. and "unless they put out more fruit I will cut them down", that was early Spring, Now we are in mid Summer and they have gone crazy and packed on lots of fruit. Those two plants now have more fruit than any other papaya in my garden. Hahaha amazing.. I only had to threaten to cut them down hahahaha......... But seriously last year I planted another 20 or more papaya and now I have 2 more doing the same thing... all the others are setting fruit but 2 look like males and no fruits.. and yea I think these two will be the same.. no fruit the first year but I'm hoping they will have many fruit next year. 🙂 Amazing hey? Thanks Mate. Good to chat 👍🙂

    Why cut the female papaya, just leave it alone and just kill the male papaya. It's just a waste of time grafting it, now you have to wait 2 to 3 months and there's a possibility that it will not survive and the three friuts are wasted. If you really want a smaller or lowered papaya so you can harvest the fruit without problem reaching it, then you could have cut the male papaya much lower like 1 feet to 1 1/2 feet from the ground so you'll end up with a much smaller papaya tree. 😒😒🤔🤔

      Papaya is really strong, normally in warm but non tropical regions you chop it down in winter and in spring it comes back alive and will start making you fruits in summer.
      About what he did: there is no problem for the female plant he chopped, it will grow back, meanwhile the male one with the grafted female part will make him fruits much faster than to plant the cut in soil and waiting for roots.
      Or at least this is what I think.

    • @id6673
      @id6673 2 роки тому

      @@mikimosky4109 true, we live in Central florida and my mom has a papaya tree that's about 8 years old. When it gets too tall, she just chops it down a little and it grows back with more branches.

      Moreover I think this is totally fake. You can do what you want, but the "grafted" female will die out.

    • @simonbach3618
      @simonbach3618 2 роки тому

      @@mikimosky4109 well if that is the case it makes sence, then it is better then just removing allmale plants since you can take atvanrage of them alredy having good roots.

    What is the point of cutting a female papaya tree & grafting it on a male papaya tree? What happens to the female papaya tree trunk? Does it grow a new trunk & bear flowers & fruits?

    • @Spiritualsimplicity

      He likely had an extra branch. Just saw another person say that they chopped the male like this but left it alone and did nothing. Later two female branches emerged from the male without grafting.

    I don't know why people bother to do that. Papaya, even when planted from seeds, produces fruits in the first year. Each papaya has hundreds of seeds. If you need more female papaya trees, just plant more seeds. 😆😆😆

    So I think it would be better to leave the female alive and just get rid of the male one.Because un the long run one papaya tree had to diety friend.
