the War Tunnels "Hohlgangsanlage 8" is one of many German tunnel systems that was built/being built for ammunition storage by the Germans on the island. after D-DAY it was turned into an underground hospital, as the German hospital was above ground located near Springfield football pitch in town. after D-DAY the Germans was not getting any food supplies from France, so they had to forage for food, fish, collect sea food like limpets, winkles etc to survive. this led to the Germans being ordered to do 4hr shifts and to save their energy. this is why most of the dummy's are lay in bed, to portray how it would have been.
if you are impressed with Damien's bunker museum, you should see what he keeps at his farm house. he has enough items to fill the bunker 3 times over. he also owns a Stoewer Kfz 1, which is a radio car that was stationed on the Island and is 4 wheel drive. but the best thing about it is that the back wheels can steer like the front. meaning it can do a U-turn in the middle of a street if needed.
