Ra's Al Ghul Origin - Once A Noble Turned Into Monstrous Batman Villain After His Wife Was Killed!

- There is no dearth of Batman villains, but few of them are as famous as Ra's Al Ghul's. Ra's is immortal and has been dubbed as Batman's true nemesis over the course of his many years as a Batman villain. Dennis O'Neil and Neal Adams created this complex and memorable character in the year 1971, and since then, he has been part and parcel of the Gotham crime scene.
While we know him to be a deadly villain, this video will dive deep into the origin story of Ra's al Ghul to give you a perspective about his early life and time and all the various events that led up to him becoming an accomplished and feared adversary. What is most interesting is that Ra's is nothing like other DC villains that we have seen over the decades. He is special and different, and there is a much larger story at play leading up to him becoming an assassin. Want to know more? Keep watching!
This guy is one of Batman’s most iconic villains this video is long overdue.
My favorite Batman villain. For the sake of learning I will exert myself to the upmost. - Ra’s al Ghul
IKR, a traitorous sensei, what will they think of next?
Utmost
Birth of the Demon is an excellent read and Ra's is my favorite Batman villain too! Great video.
Ras not rash
Wow! I never knew that Ra's Al Ghul was created in 1971! What an incredible and fantastic backstory for one of Batman's most famous rouges.
I hope in one of the possible sequels of The Batman, we will see Ra's al Ghul against the "Detective".
i would love this youg robert pattinson's batman/bruce to fought of many foes and have multiple love interest inluding talia and see her call "beloved" and him returning the same feeling. i also want to see him with poison ivy.
You never know
You don't cheat death. You whimper in fear of it - Batman
Ra’s Al Ghul deserves a Spot in the DCEU/Snyderverse, Ghasson Massoud would make an Exquisite Syrian Film Actor for Ra’s Al Ghul in Ben Affleck’s Batman Movie Universe with Ben Affleck as Batman/ Bruce Wayne
Especially considering Ralph's role as Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter franchise, but his top priority at the moment is being the director of MI6 in the current James Bond 007 movies
How about making him Arabic not European for once lol
@@nikeman2045Ghassan Massoud?
8:27 It doesn't excuse him wanting to commit genocide but seeing the worst of humanity for centuries and losing hope it could get better explains his mindset.
Ra's Al Ghul, the only villian who looks for an adversary for a son-in-law by any means necessary. When he says he's seen some tihs, he's not kidding.
Especially since said son-in-law was one of his prized pupils before their falling out
@@damianprock1650 Batman was never his student in the comics.
@@davidogundipe808 well, Batman did travel all over the world trying to hone his skills, knowing that Ra's al Ghul was one of the people who trained Bruce to get the skills necessary to become the Dark Knight just takes the cake, it might not have been shown in the comic books, but it could be heavily implied
@@damianprock1650 it is never implied in any comic book that Ra's was Batman's teacher.
@@davidogundipe808 you never know for sure
I think Ra’s was done better in Batman Begins then he was in the actual comics. He’s supposed to be Batman’s greatest foe but he’s rarely depicted as such not to mention he doesn’t really feel like a Batman villain. Batman villain are usually psychos in Halloween costumes but Ra’s isn’t that at all, he’s more like a James Bond villain
He's the Batman version of Fu Manchu.
Let's hope that for The Batman sequel they recast Liam Neeson as Ra's once again.
No white washing
That I'd like to see and with the 1st Robin fighting alongside Batman in that endeavor
always thought Liam Neeson really was Henry Ducard, and Ras Al Ghul is just a title to the current leader of the League of the Shadows. the same carried over into Arrow, except we do not know his original name.
No mention of him on Arrow and Gotham is kind of dissapointing....but then so was his appearence on Gotham.
Love the Lazerous Pits ritual on Arrow Season 3
Not to mention his appearance from DC Superzero Bimbos.
Kinda weird if you ask me
@@damianprock1650 Are you talking to me ?
@@aidanhever3369 I was talking to BlackSamurai
@@damianprock1650 Oh, I see.
Done well virtually everywhere when attached to Batman but was UTTERLY USELESS and UNINTELLIGENT when they tried to attached him to Green Arrow in Arrow.
I really enjoyed liam Neeson as Ras al ghul he was brilliant
You mean-As Henri Ducard.😀
@@matthewschwartz6607 technically speaking, he's Ra's al Ghul
Ra's al ghul never trained or mentored Batman/Bruce Wayne in his formative years! In fact he was never even conscious of his existence until Talia already had a previous encounter with Batman. The League of Assasins/Demon objective was Bigger than Gotham.
Batman: I don't kill humans, however everything else will be put on a t-shirt.
I still think Liam Neeson is the best Ra’s Al ghul but I didn’t like the reveal that Ducard takes up the Ra’s Al Ghul title. It should’ve been he always was Ra’s
The comics as far as ras al ghul goes is more on the science fiction side of things. Which is fine, I just think his portrayal in chris nolan's films was a lot more accurate to real world. The Lazarus pit and him being resurrected is great but I think it works better if he's sort of haunting Bruce from beyond the grave as he does in the dark knight rises.
I love this Ra's Al Ghul video. Can you please also make a David Cain and Lady Shiva videos next?
David Cain is still in continuity?
@@matthewschwartz6607 I believe so.
Good call bro
Imagine in a Plot Twist that after Batman/Bruce rejected Ra's Al Ghul's Offer to take over his League of Assassins, Ra's replaces him with The Red Hood/Jason Todd (who seems like the Perfect candidate for the job)!
I don't think so, according to the *Shadow War* DLC side op in *Batman:Arkham Knight,* his daughter, Nyssa became leader of the L.O.A after Ra's started lying on his deathbed, his last words to Batman were "proud.....of......you"
@dr rock perhaps
@dr rock maybe
Red Hood actually was considered as a leader for the LOA by Lady Shiva in the Red Hood and The Outlaws New 52 run.
@dr rock maybe, but of course Deathstroke has it more out for the Teen Titans, even though he lost his eye in a fight with Batman
Well this has to be the one time "Bruce Wayne" did not have to foot the whole bill
So, Birth Of The Demon is CANON? I loved the graphic novel, but I always thought that it was basically an Elseworlds (Based on the ending with Ra’s killing Bruce with a shovel, it basically had to be .).
DCAU Ra's was better than Nolan's and CW's Ra's
Ra’s Al Ghul is definitely one of my top fav villains.
Nolan & Liam did a great job with Ra's in Batman Begins and his story was still central in the 3rd film - fitting for a rogue of this caliber
I actually like his origin being a mystery. I like the idea of ras al ghul being more of a title passed down to each league of shadows member thus "being" immortal. Instead of a literal pit. I like the Nolan version where he's like ex British special forces turned mercenary then joins the league
MCU Thanos ripped of his whole character
MCU rips off plenty of good things about DC .
@@DCMarvelMultiverse DC did too
what about Ra’s al Ghul from arrow?
I agree but you missed Gotham live action.
That was a weird ass episode of Batman Beyond.
Was fucked 😆
One of my favorite Batman villains.
Liam Neeson was such a great cast.
"RAYSH al ghul"
*Immediately closes video*
Ras is my favorite Batman villain followed by Talia.
What if he became a vampire?
Yep, instead of riling on a on a pit full of dangerous chemicals he can spend eternity drinking blood or he can become a werewolf their immortal creatures too. Or since he's well versed in magic he can cast a spell to make himself immortal.
They should make an origin an origins movie about him how he became the villain. He is one of my favorite villains ❤️💯💣💣
Ra's al ghul is the best of batman's villians
I think the Batman who laughs is better
@@sommershadow He started out great. But DC overused the character so much, that most of the readers have had enough with the character.
@@seth9655 That's the Authors Fault. The Character was insanely Great and something new. I agree that they overused him in the end, but still his Batman stories are some of the best narratively. I would put them in the same echelon of Series like the killing Joke
One of the best so far you mean
@@damianprock1650 yes but to pick between anime and live action is a challenge
R..A..S... No fucking H. Ras, Ras. Simple. Raaz.
Nice
He's not a villain, just abstract and unorthodox thinking
it's RA'S not resh
Amazing
Second only to the Joker as a nemesis
i think mandarin and rasa ghul should be friends
In some weird way, they might
That's not how you pronounce his name.
Ra’s al ghoul is middle eastern too
Ra's al Ghul's ethnic origins may be described East Asian in accordance to Birth of the Demon and The Resurrection of Ra's al Ghul, and Byzantine/Eastern Roman as addressed by Talia al Ghul in Batman Annual #26. Ra's al Ghul's Eastern Roman background is further implied in Batman and Robin (vol. 2) #23.3.
@@leedusty1262 Hmm this is interesting perhaps it could be assumed that Ras has multiple roots from different cultures.
Which makes senses since humanity was more densely packed back in those days.
@@leedusty1262 He and Talia also claim to be direct descendants of Alexander the Great and Attila the Hun on multiple occasions.
This video seems like a Apologist perspective on Nolan's interpretation of Batman instead of a pure representation of the source material.
He basically bin laden if immortal
Why can't ra's al ghul resurrect his dead henchman and wife?
I prefer this guy over joker. Joker is overused and overrated. Just a opinion..............
Rah like Jah
Millions of BTC has been lost to broken hard drives lost cold wallets and lost passwords. BTC can never go to zero because it will always look like someone is holding BTC to all inactive coin
His professional strategies are mind blowing. never thought I'd be able to make as much profits as I'm making. I started with a thousand dollars I was able to monitor the trade
To be honest I invested as low as $2,000 because I was skeptical initially. Receiving my profit gave me more confidence to reinvest higher
please how can I contact Mr. Wilson Moore? I've heard Alot about crypto turning people into millionaires
@Liam Taylorsville ohk, Thanks alot
Funny enough a friend that I referred to him received $35,050 profit after 10 days of investing.....i became jealous...Lol😂
Say it with me shu re ken ..but spelled shuriken
it be cool if Raj killed batman like for real takes up batman mantle crime goes down.
Rash not make sense but ras al guul make sense is arabic word mean demon head
Actually, there is no word for "demon" in Arabic as "demon" is derived from the Greek "daemon" and Ancient Arabs regarded Greeks as a "Pagan infidel culture" to be avoided like the plague lest Allah or Ahura Mazda`s favor in the afterlife be taken from them. The nearest equivalent would be "spirit" or "ogre".
1971? Hmmm .... I thought it was sometime around the 1st or 2nd Punic Wars ... Carthege, etc. ... oh weeeel okay. 1971 (musta been the same time after the world was created by HOBBY LOBBY and David Green.
i never knew he was a chinese nomad i thought he was a white guy trained in japan and became ninja leader lol
It's RAAZZZ, not "Raysh."
RAAZZZ al Ghul
Am I the only who hate when they say his name wrong🤣🤣bout time somebody said it right
No no, ““RAHZ al GOOL”
Raysh not Rahz. I am Denny accurate.
Is Ras.. not Rage…..
He's not saying rage.
Also no. Its not raz.
More like Raysh.
He did say DECARD, though! It’s DU(As in OOO!)CARD!
Raz is the actual pronunciation and is far more intimidating. Raysh sounds soft tbh
Two things, first i respect the effort that went into this deep dive of this character, second...OMG learn to pronounce words correctly! There so many mispronunciations it took me out of the discussion too many times.
This channel is weak sauce.
the character is based on the real life historical figure Hassan Al Sabbah.
Read on that. Its much more interesting than this trype.
