I'm from Fauquier and there are no shortage of jokes about this, it's on T-shirts... My cousin got in trouble in freshman year of college when it came time for introductions, because they thought she was being profane and irreverant.
So did they actually arrest anyone? It's not clear. Where did they seize the encryption key? Did they shut down any servers? This is horrible reporting. The only concrete fact that I saw was that they took over a website.
obviously, that’s not the case when they got caught lol. US has an issue of not training and hiring security specialists and they use legacy infrastructure. It’s not that difficult. spammers and scammers who use social engineering (little to nothing in technical knowledge) commit crimes and make off with the money. Their locations and identities are constantly exposed by UA-camrs and TikTokers with US cybersecurity assurance master degrees (but still unemployed). Little to no action is taken against the scammers even though they are 100% exposed.
It's a very strange thing to see how far humanity goes to destroy itself. I have to be honest with you... I just don't get it. 🤔 It doesn't make any sense. 🙄 Mankind ends up destroying itself over... what--digital boolsheet? Greed? "Dollars"? What good will that do anyone 60+ years from now?

You'd have to be incredibly gullible to fall for the scam. That's all I'm saying. Hard to believe anyone could be stupid enough to fork over their financial info without some type of an actual contract, which makes me think there's also certain amount of hype going on here.
@@fog- - Dude.. I could disable that crap on ANY infected PC in under 2 minutes. If you're talking about an iPhone, I've never owned one, so I could care less. Both ransomware and Lockbit (ooooh sounds scarey) are a joke to me.
Yep you're proving your ignorance again. Lockbit doesn't target iPhones. Infact, there are very very few, if any, ransomware groups that target phones at all - it's not worth the risk since the reward is unsatisfactory. When you say that you could disable the ransomware, please let me know what you mean. Are you claiming to be able to decrypt all of the files immediately? Don't forget that the ransomware gang now have your data too and there is nothing you can do about that. Also about your original reply, it's not a scam, Lockbit do genuinely give you a decryption key and allow you to get your data back. The media claims that they scam the victims but that's incorrect and that is only to deter victims from paying ransoms. And I will mention that no ransomware group will be signing a legal contract as that completely deanonymises their online presence. @@ShadovvV
Time for Lockbit to get locked up

I heard indictment. So we have formally charged these criminals. We will see how bad the US wants them if you hear about a trade in the future.
These talents are wasted in doing crimes.

You very clearly have absolutely no idea how ransomware works, or how Lockbit operates.
