  • Participants share what it has been like to be part of the Ripple Effect - a two year creative well-being project run by Wessex Archaeology, artist James Aldridge and the Environment Agency.
Drawing inspiration from the River Avon - it’s past, present and future, this film is central to a special multimedia exhibition featuring participants’ artwork documenting the journey of this art, archaeology and ecology project. The Ripple Effect is all about connection - with the landscape and to each other so we wanted to be able to share the impact of this project with you too.

I am sooo happy that i got your notification for this at 1 a.m. Vancouver Canada time..I hurriedly put away my art project, grabbed leftover pizza, crawled into bed, just in the nick of time for the 10 second count down..your video was far too short. But O so Wonerfull, Beautyfull! Now Everybodies have said and hugged their goodbyes to the rivers, the sky, the mud, to each other..for now..and i am crying right now because all of you are very very fortunate -individually and your community-connectedness- for this enlightening experience that will stay with you forever. I cry because it feels, when watching this, like a refuge from the torments and sorrows on our Little Blue and Green, only-one-we-got Planet Mother Earth. Thank you each and every one you. Now I am going to go look at Google map for your Wessex county(?). ❤❤❤❤❤

That beautiful ending, reflecting on the life and environment that the river has seen. It had me in tears as I thought of the information we could each learn if we were to study our own environments, the way the water moves through the land, how all living creatures use water as sustainance and a cleansing. Water = life.
Blessings from South Eastern Australia, Dot

Wow! Came to same conclusion about composition. Looks like an old pyroclastic flow. I'd say it must be older than all the surrounding sedimentary.

What does this have to do with archaeology?
    More like Wessex Ecology.

Shame the government is allowing these rivers to be filled with raw sewage.
