- A short documentary created for educational purposes to teach my classes about Andy Goldsworthy and his artistic process.
Andy Goldsworthy is a British artist known for his site-specific installations involving natural materials and the passage of time. Working as both sculptor and photographer, Goldsworthy crafts his installations out of rocks, ice, leaves, or branches, cognizant that the landscape will change, then carefully documents the ephemeral collaborations with nature through photography. “It's not about art,” he has explained. “It's just about life and the need to understand that a lot of things in life do not last.”

Some years ago Andy was exhibiting in the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh where my son Mark Parry worked as a graphic designer. One day Mark rang to say ‘ Guess what! I’m careering round Edinburgh in a van with Andy Goldsworthy’. Mark bought Andy’s beautiful books for me. My much loved son died 16 years ago . Andy will probably not remember that time when they were both young and enjoying life but it is a precious memory for me. Thanks to Mark I got to know Andy’s inspired works of art.
THIS IS SO HELPFUL. I have my DT GCSE exam next week and Goldsworthy is my artist study. I cannot tell you how amazing this is, thank you!!!!!!
Andy Goldsworthy is such an amazing artist. Way ahead of his time to be honest. Amazing work and amazing man!
He's before back and through ...he's emulating nature
This is SO cool!!
I never knew about this wonderful artist , until a friend and I found ourselves at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall one night . I was more interested in looking at the programme for the musical events at the hall . Until the movie documentary started . Then inwas enthralled by this mans creations.
Working with nature and knowing that the creations do not last . They are temporary . I loved what I saw.
Thank you I was exposed to him in college and forgot later in life when I wanted to see more of his work
I am 8 years old and I LOVE nature ❤️🔥👍
It's good to hear that . Nature is for you . Keep on loving nature . I am older than 8 but I still love nature .
Thank you so much for creating this! I have been teaching my 6th grade art students about him for 10 years now and have been showing various clips from Rivers and Tides, which is clumsy and time consuming. You have beautifully put together all of the things I want my students to see in a reasonable amount of time for the classroom!
Thank you so much for this! Amazing material for art class
I did a piece, inspired, in part, by this man. I took photos of the piece after I made it, and a photo some days after the piece merged somewhat back into the environment.
Whats so good about this
tell me when you know👍👀😃😎✔👍🙌

I saw a book of Andy´s work some decades ago...now I remembered him and saw this video. What can I say...his work can not be understood by words..it´s the language of God, the creator. Thank you, Andy, for listening to His voice.
Fascinada.Não tinha visto tanta beleza comtemplada e executada do efêmero.Simplesmente o olhar pleno do belo de passagem.grata pela sua criação.Me fez pleno o coração.Do Brasil um abraço.

I think it would be quite interesting to hear from the 44 people who gave this video a thumbs down, explain why they were displeased by the video, and also why they were compelled to state their disliking of the video by clicking on the thumbs down icon.

This is GREAT! Thank you! I'm going to share this with my class. Much appreciated!
Yeaa !! Same
Wow! a wonderful experience, thank you. We watched his DVD Rivers and Tides, Magical!!
Did they ever release a higher quality version of that documentary? The original DVD I own has an image quality of 480p which is my only complaint about the documentary.
@@ThinkerOnTheBus I do not know the answer sorry, we watched his DVD and feel blessed there is such a tremendous Artist out there in this shared world of ours. He can perform magic in his Artistic expression, Peace.

Spectacular artist. Public speaker? Not so much. His atrocious blathering “art-speak” does him, and his work, a tragic disservice. Stop speaking like an art college grad desperately trying to impress their colleagues, and start speaking like a rational, level-headed adult talking to a grownup or friend whose intelligence you respect.
