Academy Loremaster can actually work in a instant/flash deck. Where you can draw cards during your turn and cast instant/flash spells during other turns. I've played it against opponents and it surprisingly survives as they either don't care about it because it's an available card draw source or not worth a kill spell as it doesn't do anything if they don't draw that extra card.
Right?! I was watching it and he literally just talked about a bunch of flash prison effects in azorius control. Anywho calling it now lore master is going to be the glue that holds any blue control deck since its essentially draw an extra card every turn for you and for your opponent if they take the bargain they lose tempo if they don't your up on resources. Limited 2/5 Standard 5/5 (if control exists)
if you can repeatedly remove the lore counter from Phasing of Zhalfir, you can just keep phasing out your opponents entire board (if they run out of stuff you have to start phasing your own stuff, so be careful)
So you have the creature/tank from Panzer Dragoon but what about an actual dragoon from SCI or the stalker from SCII? Both have four legs rather than the three legged model in the cinematic.
Cut Down feels like half of a Fatal Push and likely should be compared to a Shock which can never go face. (the slight upside to destroy a 2/3 or 1/4 will hardly not matter in Constructed).
I honestly don't see how Academy loremaster won't be a mandatory 4x in blue control decks. Card seems nuts busted, like almost snapcaster mage good. You don't cast spells on your own turn, so you get zero downside for double card draw. And if your opponent takes the extra draw, great, their spells cost more now, slowing the pace of the game, which is literally the best possible case for control decks. And If they don't take the extra draw, you lose nothing and gain free resource advantage. I'm not seeing a downside. Yeah, you have to not counter a turn 2-3 spell, but I seriously doubt that would make a serious difference in the outcome of the game compared to the advantage generated.
So at what point are you going to review viewer made cards, it would be hilarious. Especially with all the crossovers they are doing with DnD and stranger things , etc.
Things can resonant outside of gameplay terminology yanno. That was a such a weird thing for the guy in chat to even say, I don't even know why it ws addressed. Perhaps an attempt at "oh look I know industry buzz words".
Isnt 1 damage for 2 life fair?!! Yeah its at instant speed and maybe you have a real damage dealing effect like a bolt and now your bolt does 4 damage suddenly (cause you have 2 life to spare) yet top decking 1 damage isnt amazing.
Day9 set reviews are what I live for
Amen to that!
He's 100% right 25% of the time.
Same it's such a fucking event
"We're big on corruption here." This is the kind of hard hitting honesty I watch Day9 streams for.
1:19:43 The best re-review yet!
I starting laughing and then I started coughing and I hurt myself. xD
Just rewatching this made me spit out my coffee again

1:47:14 is the kind of content I come to see out of day9. That joke was a 5/5
Omg the griffin review had me crying
The flavor text on sengir connoisseur is hilarious. "We cannot afford to let the Phyrexians win. They taste terrible"
Academy Loremaster is great if you're flashing everything on the other player's turn

I think Phyrexia was inspired not only with Beksinski but also Giger. Love that style and cant wait for return to phyrexia :D
I could have lived a good long life without that Griffin Protector erotica
Watched the Twitch vod, just popping in to give the like and comment bump.

1:12:45 is why Day9 is my favourite Magic player
What does punt mean?
only entertaining set reviews to ever grace the internet

The highlight of any set release.
Time for the best time of the year, Day9 card reviews
Great job, loved the timmy voice
I have the same ringtone at 1:39:58 and I tripped up cause I thought I was late for something. :(
angel is going to be very good in midrange decks for most of standard imo

Wingmantle Chaplain: your statues gather peckers to shit on your opponents.
Whoa an actual set review!?

Finally... new set reviews!
51 minutes in, battlewing mystic is the most broken card so far. 3 mana draw 2 with a body, even if you discard 1 or 2 it's still pretty damn good.
How about birds vs fish?
15:34 Unicorn?!? Pegasus dude, it's a Pegasus.

@1:19:41, so this must be the best improve ever? Or are Sean's dreams freaky+awesome?
(note how I didnt say "freaking awesome")
This is the good stuff.
They really trying hard to associate mahogany sun gods with a certain bege colour

Cant wait for all the "nothing" theme decks to be door to nothingness decks.
The internet has not been kind to Day9. He is just a karen at this point lol
