- After a hot NASCAR weekend in Nashville, Dale Earnhardt Jr. gets back behind the microphone for another episode of Dirty Air. In a race that took five overtime restarts to complete and produced an unexpected winner in Joey Logano, there was a lot to chat about: a box of Butler’s pickles and the Titanic Lego set, the rivalry between Denny Hamlin and Kyle Larson, whether Carson Hocevar deserves a penalty, Christopher Bell’s strong performance, the issue of unlimited overtime attempts, and what to do about extreme temperatures. Race winner Joey Logano also calls in. I used to cook in a kitchen for 8 to 12 hrs a day in 140 to 160 degrees. 4 hrs in a hot car, hydrate properly.

When a monitary fine is levied, the literal translation means legal for a price. Dale is right; hit them in the moment. That has the broadest impact and reach. I had to go looking for Hocevar's fine amount. If he had been parked for 3-4 laps, that would resonate throughout the field, the fans, and any future decisions about screwing around during a caution.
should be NO contact under yellow. Denny should have been penalize for bumping the 5
As far as the heat goes.....I remember hearing that Bobby Allison used to train by driving around an Alabama summer with the windows closed tight and the heater on full blast....

re: the hot races. in wec endurance racing theres a rule where the cockpit temperature may not exceed 90F or the car will be parked to get their ac repaired. Prototypes have to have ac to maintain the temperature limit. 90F is pretty "low"but this is mainly a concern because some races are 24h with 6 hour race stints
@@WillowCreative noone does a 6 hr stint. Thats not even legal. The max i think is around 3 hrs per stint. Maybe a little more based on how some drivers will do a quad stint at le mans with 45 minute fuel runs. 45 mins × 4 is 3 hrs. Maybe like 3 hrs 15 mins or something. Ive never heard of anyone doing more than 4 at a time and even that is rare. And they are absolutely wiped out after 3 hours

Denny says under caution the bullshit stops and calls for Hocevar to be suspended. Literally, in the same race, under caution, he ran into Larson multiple times. Double standard Denny, the owner/driver/policeman.

Bring back more Saturday night racing in the part of the country where the temperature is too hot during daylight hours. Plus ,Saturday night would help with working on Monday .
Here is a question for you in regards to penalties in the moment vs later in the week. Would you prefer NASCAR to make a snap judgement call with possibly incomplete or opinionated information and possibly make the incorrect call, or would you prefer them to take their time and weigh all the information and facts and then levy penalties as necessary?

Honestly, the whole reason we stopped going to joliet was because its too damn hot & humid there in july. I live close and ive never been able to deal with it. Then they put in lights, ran in september and it got down to like 40 lol. Ppl thought we were nuts bringing blankets in earlier in the day 😂 i think the merch guys had a great night for blankets and jackets that night lol.

Aric has always been a very laid back man! It's hard for me to believe that he would be the agressor in any situation! Bubba on the other hand is a hot head! It's shocking to believe that Aric would be the agressive one of the two!
Aric proved to be a hothead last year at Charlotte when he shoved Bubba during a rain delay. These two have history going back to when the raced late models together.
22:41 you can’t talk about Carson hitting Burton under caution, and not talk about Denny hitting Larson under caution…during the same race.
Hamlin also looked like he tried to spin him under yellow when he was doing that. Right before the last hit he swerved to the left and then got back on his bumper. I think Gabehart in his ear is the only reason he didn’t spin Larson

On the hot races issue, there's really no reason we should be running Day races this time of the year in parts of the country where the daytime highs are regularly in the 90s. It's pretty obvious to me that NBC strong-armed NASCAR into putting this race to the mid afternoon because they prioritized the Olympic Trials.
The track was handing out ice cold dunked in cold towels at the entrance! I love the heat it was great

15:34 my thoughts on Denny/Larson is that there is NOT a rivalry. That is racing. When those two go at it when there’s something on the line…what else could possibly be considered racing? That half throttle, 5th place, middle of the stage filler is hard to watch.

I know it’s probably a TV thing, but with no Football or any sports on that people watch, what happened to the Saturday night races. It would be better for the fans at the track and might sell more tickets. It would be better for the race teams. I think it would be better for everyone!
Conspiracy theory to consider the caution and spin by Cindric really helped Logano win and the spin by Cindric spinning all by himself. Just throwing that out there
It took 5 restarts for Joey to win. When Cindric spun, Joey was around 15th.

I agree with not changing any overtime rules. If course, if we had overtime back when his dad won the 500, maybe he doesn't. With that, how many more races would he have as he was incredibly awesome at restarts. As for yellows, if that car that cause it is still running and can make it back to the pits without leaving parts all over the track, STOP BRINGING THAT DARN FLAG OUT!

Chase didn't get his spot back. He just didnt get.passed bu to many people and he stayed on the track till the pit lane opened . So he didnt go a lap down.
I thought it was a great race, kept me on the edge of my seat and Joey Logano won!!!

Either race to the scheduled end of the race, or bring back the overtime line. I also think that in overtime, if there is a caution, they should race back to the Yellow and the White, and then finish under caution instead of re-racking the field.

Formula One has a great system of managing penalties during the race. I don't always agree with what they dish out but the system is good, and NASCAR should take a long look at it and adopt something very similar.
Maybe the feedback part is not just about the car, but about what type and the manner in which it is given. My guess is that Hailie will be right there listening in and talking with Joey about what he's looking for and feeling to try and learn from that as well.

Why were people complaining about Kyle Bush getting back in line after 1st try for green white checkers , but nobody said anything about Chase not going to the back of the longest line for bringing out the Caution , or Lawson passing cars under Caution to go into the pits. Am I not understanding the rules 😮
Who won Chicago last year? SVG , who was the main front runners in V8 Supercars Australia the last couple years , SVG (triple8racing) and DJR( Penske co owner back then with Scott McLaughlin) I think Penske think they can take on SVG from previous encounters and experience
Can't speak on inside the car heat but as far as in the stands it really didn't seem that hot out, cloud cover and nice breeze made it very tolerable

Maybe Cindric had serious health issues because of the heat. That could also be some reasons to other racing issues. I wonder what OSHA has to say about these temperatures and also why haven't they already???

1. Should Have Started Later Time Around 6Or7pm.
2. Carson Should Black Flag For Incident With H. Button Under Caution.
AM Racing is just trying to make sure they're in the race with 40+ cars trying to qualify for the event. Deegan's qualifying attempts at the 3 road courses this season has been 35th or worse

So the AM racing team called Joey and said the seat will be open. I agree with Dale Jr. I could see that happening on an oval, not a street course. So I’m thinking that ford and Hailie have split ways.

Not a total fan but isn't that what NASCAR did a couple weeks ago. Some cars stayed out while others pitted then a rain delay then the cars that stayed out were allowed to get fuel and keep their same spots on the grid. How is that okay?
