Hello. Do not give anything oral to an animal that is not conscious, or able to hold its head up on its own. There is a significant risk the animal will aspirate and die. Even direct gastric intubation has increased risk of regurgitation and aspiration. The small bowel/intestine is able to absorb glucose well and quickly. The injection is most effective and safest. Hello, Cameron. We give the injection within 4 hours of birth ideally. Our goal is to help prevent navel ill and the best method is to treat them within the first 24 hours. We feel, the sooner, the better.

Ive always seen cdt given intramuscular. Is it better to give subcutaneously?
