    Good information.
Is there a reason why not give the glucose orally?
    Thanks

Hello. Do not give anything oral to an animal that is not conscious, or able to hold its head up on its own. There is a significant risk the animal will aspirate and die. Even direct gastric intubation has increased risk of regurgitation and aspiration.
The small bowel/intestine is able to absorb glucose well and quickly. The injection is most effective and safest. Great question!

Ive always seen cdt given intramuscular. Is it better to give subcutaneously?

Hi, Rachel! Thanks for watching our videos. Yes, per manufacturer directions it should be administered subq. Minus dexamethasone, banamine, and some meds given during delivery, most are given subq. Thanks!

Hello, Cameron. We give the injection within 4 hours of birth ideally. Our goal is to help prevent navel ill and the best method is to treat them within the first 24 hours. We feel, the sooner, the better.
