I do find it surprising that you didn't do the DLC, considering how the absolutely shower you in unique gear at every step. I'd say the DLC are some of the most interesting areas in the game to do this challenge in, so I'd definitely be interested in a part 2.
Fun fact: many (including myself) believe that Ocellote, the son of Oceiros, was actually supposed to be in the game, but was removed for a good reason by fromsoft. Halfway through the Oceiros fight, he screams his sons name and smashes the hand holding what is supposed to hold his son into the ground, and we can hear a baby’s crying that then ceases, meaning he just killed his child in his own confusion and mental deterioration. So in my opinion, you can’t send Oceiros’ son to an orphanage, because he’s dead.
The cut content version of the audio is even more graphic than what's in the shipped game, combined with a datamined older model of oceiros holding ocelotte it's pretty much confirmed that he was supposed to squash the baby against the floor.
@@caseyking8394 yeah I’m glad elden ring brought more people to these amazing games as it provides more content creators making content for me to watch
@@RandomPurrsone very true, it feels honestly weird to have this many people talking about souls games but the amount of great people who have found the games is definitely a plus.
@@caseyking8394 yeah it’s nice because when I get bored of the games because I don’t have any build ideas I can just go to the elden ring or souls like section on UA-cam click on any video and have an idea based on that video
I did an invasion challenge like this! The goal was to use only area equipment + spells from the previous area if applicable, and I can tell you now: it had very high highs, and _very_ low lows. The best one was Road of Sacrifices and Crucifixion Woods; you get the Sellswords, Heretic's Staff, and Great Magic Weapon to make a pretty damn viable Spellsword build. You could even mix/match Sellsword, Exile, and Black Knight armour to your liking! The worst was Anor Londo, though. The best I could scrap together was the Silver Knight armour + shield and Drang Twinspears, with the Archdeacon staff and Great Deep Soul as a sidearm. Even the Catacombs/Smouldering Lake wasn't as bad, considering the only things I wore were the Old Sage's Blindfold and Carthus Bloodring. The Carthus Curved GS is still a phenomenal weapon btw!
wake up babe, new Mr Metagross video just dropped Edit: I think it would've been cool to use gear from the Dreg Heap itself on the final boss, since it's sort of the same area, like the spinny-glaive. Love what you decided, though. Would love to see a part 2,!
Great video man. Love the music! I can recognize Ruby/Sapphire music from anywhere. Also, including screenshots of the typos in your script is hilarious.
Honestly I cant believe this is your first non-DS1 challenge! Cant wait to see you come out with more challenges in soulsborne games, hell even other games you enjoy
Since I'm a bit of a nerd, here's a few tips for the bosses. Gundyr can be parried during his first phase. Don't worry about a party tool either, just disarm and you can naturally do it, then swap back after. Vordt will always charge 3 times during his second phase. And staying behind him is good but occasionally frost particles can reach you. The crystal sage and be baited into a parry by standing close, they swing with their right hand going left. They'll follow up with two more attacks, if you miss the first parry you can roll and immediately parry to get the third hit. Be careful though, they might use a melee spell or their grab attack during second phase. During the second phase of Abyss Watchers, you can roll past the guy after his flippy slam move with the explosion to get a backstab. When fighting Wolnir, try to get his right bracelet first. It moves around less during his first phase. I haven't seen past these bosses yet, so please excuse me if I point out anything you state. I'll edit it after. Pontiff can be parried aswell, and reliably on his first lunging attack. I usually try to parry his greatsword, the other one is a bit too fast. But be careful, missing a parry could get you combo'd. Aldrich is pretty weird, I've never had a fight that was similar to the last. Something either goes incredibly wrong or I just steamroll the jelly. Either way, use the (not broken) pillars to avoid the first arrow fan. And when the arrow rain is following you, run in a circle after it reaches you. Don't make it so small you run back into it, and not so big that you're likely to mess up. A consistent speed and shape means it'll never reach you. Yhorm doesn't really have anything special. I've only killed him with the gimmick weapon and it's straightforward. When the dancer starts her biggy spinny, hide behind a piller while against the wall. She'll eventually stop and you can run out to smack her. She's a great roll punish, if you panic she'll combo you, just like pontiff and nameless. DLC stuff Friede is backstabable, and probably parryable but I've never done it. She suffers from chronic "cool pose" syndrome after a few of her attacks. Which will let you get a stab in. Usually after her 3rd phase blackflame leap thing. Just roll through the explosion and stab. The twin demons have a choose your own adventure system. If you kill the demon in pain first, the final boss uses lasers and a nuke ability. And if the demon from below is first, then you'll be dealing with meteors, explosions, and AOE stuff. DISCLAIMER, I might have it backwards, it's been a few years so I could very well be wrong. Always google before taking anyones word as true. That's it for my tips, the rest either don't have a tip, I've forgotten the tip, or just simply don't matter.
Please do the DLC Dreg Heap would be interesting and Ring City has a Lot of cool stuff! and the Ashes of Ariandel ha the Onyx Blade Crow Talons Valorheart Vilhelm's Set and more!
18:35 "because he can swing for 20 minutes straight apparently" perfectly summarizes why i didnt care as much for ds3, sekiro, or elden ring. the bosses just dont have any quit
I haven’t gotten into runs like these yet. I’ve only been playing from soft games for about three years now and started with ds3 and since then I’ve gone back and beaten all the souls games except ds2. I’ve been playing elden ring since day one and am basically just doing runs either using incantations only or focusing on a specific weapon type. Currently doing incantations and a separate fist weapon run but have done a good amount of different ones. Maybe I should try a used only what’s in the area run
The fallen knight set isn't really toxic, the wearers are. It's just a middling armor set and it's what it looks like and where you get it that makes it get a reputation
Whatever the game says, an 'area' for the purpose of a run like this has to have at least one boss. So Anor Londo is not a separate area. So road of sacrifices is not a separate area from crucifixion woods, for example (the boss being crystal sage)
Pro tip (actually, tip I got FROM a pro), The Crystal Sage always has purple magic. The clones shoot blue. I saw Prod guess right everytime, second phase, once. I rewatched. Then verified. No idea where he got it
well, too bad...I was really expecting you'd do the "bare fist" fight against the Soul of Cinder because I've done it before. It was a bit difficult but not impossible by a casul like me..
Im gonna bust your balls but in archdragon peak you can kill the drake knight for the drake sword, it has 3 way split damage but it has magic as well as lightning. Lightning would be good for first phase and wouldnt be bad and the magic and physical for second would make it a breeze + it has the hollowslayer moveset.
5:37 whenever i miss that quick grab/drop down in a new run i have an overwhelming urge to delete my save file astora GS is my fav UGS because it's the only one you can spec into and commit to and still use a lot of other fun weapons. The weapon art is also great (at getting you parried) dude i fuckin hate wolnir. everyone always acts like he's the easiest fight in the game and i stg i struggle more with him than many other bosses.
the fuckin creaking skull thing caught me off guard at the end there, also do you know where that joke came from? ik its an aria of sorrow boss but I've only seen people reference that in a discord server my friends use, so this got me really curious again
